1 Who Am I?

It was just a normal day for me. Skipping school. Going around the town. Hitting on chicks. Failing on hitting on chicks because I'm a minor. Seeing a truck overspeeding towards a KID!!!

OH MY GOD! THE DRIVER IS SLEEPING! A KID IS GOING TO DI-

Oh... it's the snotty kid in town.

Fucking kid, look at this little shit, he's even using my little sister's old bike! Go die!

However, even though I thought those words, I leaped and pushed the snotty kid out of the way.

I don't know why I did that.

Is it because there's kindness, bravery, and heroism in me? Or is it because I realized that my little sister's bike will break too? Or because people will blame me for not moving to help even though I saw the truck from miles away?

Anyway, I pushed the kid out of the way. I pushed hard so that he will taste some pain for smearing snot on my hands.

Goddamn snotty kid, you're on another level. It was just a little contact and I got slimy hands?

I now regret saving you.

After I pushed the kid out of the way, I closed my eyes and prepared for the worst...

...

Huh..?

It seemed like the truck is still far. I better move away. I just want to push the snotty kid. Worth it, somehow, if not for the snot on my hands.

Wait! There's a coin in the middle of the road!

That's an additional 3 minutes at the cafe shop! I picked it up but fuck my life, my hands are slimy, the coin slipped a few more times before.

Ah, got it.-

Bam!*

.....

There are countless universes in the multiverse. One is different from the other. Laws are different and physics are just plain wacky.

But with a countless number of them, there are also some that are similar to the universe we know and love. In one particular universe, in a galaxy that has yet to be named, in a solar system humans there have yet to explore, the third planet is called "Ruhuna" and it is inhabited by millions, if not billions, of living beings.

What's the difference between Ruhuna and Earth?

In Ruhuna, unexplainable natural energy is everywhere. People there call it Qi. In every kind of nature, there is different Qi- Earth Qi, Water Qi, Sky Qi, Star Qi, and so on.

And no, Qi Qi has yet to be found, much less Qi Qi Qi.

In the continent of Muriam, go south and you will see the Humming Wind Province.

Humming Wind Province is called a backwater place by the others as the Natural Qi, an umbrella term for all types of Qi, is weak.

However, that didn't stop people in this province to cultivate.

Cultivation is the act of taking the Natural Qi and placing it within the dantian which is located at the head, the chest, and the center of the body. The more Qi one takes into these three, the stronger they get.

So what's the difference between Ruhuna and Earth in terms of living beings?

A punch of Ruhuna people can kill a person from Earth!

That is still an understatement. Instead of technological advancement, the Ruhuna people focused on developing their cultivation techniques. Breathing is not the only way to take Qi.

Taking Sky Qi for example needs the understanding of being able to fly, and so, the Sky Soaring Cultivation Technique is created by the powerhouses.

Further into the Humming Wind Province, there are a couple more dynasties to cover but that's for later. Here, we shall see the peaceful Gentle Breeze Valley.

After the near mountains, there are grassy plains and light forests scattered everywhere.

Wooden houses were placed onto the foot of the mountains, standing high from the ground with long wooden stands to support themselves.

It was a small town on a small valley but that didn't stop people from being noisy and bustling. On the paved road on the middle, people were going to and fro. Ignoring them and going at the end of the valley, there's a solitary house that is sheltered by the trees surrounding it.

It is considerably small compared to others.

At that house, there is the husband, wife, and an eight-year-old child. The most unfortunate of all is the eight-year-old child.

"Who said you can relax and lie there all day, go back to cultivating!" the father shouted.

The child was resting on the net attached to a pair of trees and used it as a cradle when he heard his father.

"But I just finished my four-hour regime! I'm tired." replied the child.

"No buts! I'm out here working hard to find a job and you get to rest?! If you do not reach the First Stage of Body Refinement at the age of 10, I will beat you up! Why can't you be like your friend, Lin? He's on his way to First Stage of Body Refinement!"

"Argh! He's 9, I'm just 8!"

"You dare speak back to me, Feng!? Where are my sandals, I'm going to teach this kid how to be respectful!"

"Ah! Forgive me! I'll go out and cultivate, okay!?"

Feng pleaded as he escaped towards the nearby light forest.

"Hmph! You better not slack off or I'll skin you!"

Amidst the trees, Feng sighed and just dropped onto the ground.

"Why can't you be like your friend, Lin blehblehbleh." he made faces before erupting in frustration, "You're already in your thirties but you're still on the Third Stage of Body Refinement, why can't you be like your friend, Lin's father who reached the Fifth Stage!?"

After releasing his anger, Feng lied down on the ground.

"But I'm tired. If only I have some cultivation technique I should be on the First Stage of Body Refinement already but we're so poor. The cheapest cultivation technique is around thirty silvers... I haven't even seen a silver coin all my life!" he talked to himself while time passed.

Having nothing to do, he sat cross-legged again and repeated to cultivate. Since he had no cultivation technique, he had to make his own.

Starting from scratch, the most basic form of taking in the natural qi is by breathing.

"Suuu--...." he inhaled and then exhaled, "Huuu---..."

Feng repeated this process. He was just eight years old and with no talent. Truthfully, his friend Lin has a Leaf Turning Physique and that's why he was able to jump onto the First Stage of Body Refinement so fast.

So fast in the standard of the Gentle Breeze Valley, that is. It's just an Earth-Grade Physique which is, in other words, common.

Feng was just feeling the natural qi and finding out the most efficient way of integrating it into his dantians.

The first dantian, which is usually called the center dantian, is the one that stores all qi that is compatible with the body.

To enter the First Stage of Body Refinement, Feng learned that he should be able to fill up his first dantian first.

And to his surprise-

'Why do I feel empty!? I've been cultivating for two years straight now!? Am I that useless!?'

However, he didn't give up, or so he thought. Not even an hour later, he gave up. But as he dropped on his back, letting his body free fall due to fatigue.

Thud*

His head hit a rock he didn't see was there.

'What the-'

His life flashed before his eyes. It was extremely short and all he just saw was him cultivating day and night for years.

'My body is extremely tired. I'm so weak that fall might be my death... if I reincarnate, I will never cultivate again and just enjoy life as it is...'

Feng's body lied on the ground for hours until the sun settled down and the cold wind made his body shiver.

"Huh...? I'm not dead?"

Slowly, he opened his eyes to see the moon above him. He felt chills all over his body and when what really happened came back to him, his eyes widened.

"I was hit by a truck! No, I hit my head on a rock and died uselessly! Wait, what strange memory is this!?"

Feng recounted his experience. He suddenly remembered life in a world called Earth where he got rejected by chicks over and over again.

"Why the fuck am I doing here!?" he sharply cursed.

"Wait, no... I am still Feng but am I... I forgot my name on Earth... huh... so Feng it is."

Feng felt he lived sixteen years more of life. It felt so natural but not at the same time. It shouldn't happen but here it is. He felt like two different people but the same.

The world spun as he contemplated the meaning of life...

"Nah, Earth can go to hell. In Ruhana, I can become a strong cultivator! Wait, no! I can't cultivate, useless! Useless!"

Feng was about to throw a tantrum towards reality when his father's voice resounded.

"I knew it you're just lying around and doing nothing!"

"Huh?" Feng sat up and tried to escape, "No, dad, I wasn't, I just finished cultivating!"

"Little bastard, how dare you lie to me!? I came here earlier and saw you just lying around as well!"

"Ah! It's already night, what the fuck?"

Feng's father's eyes widened in a stupor.

"F-f-f...? What did you say?"

"Umm..." recalling a memory, Feng gulped as he remembered cursing is punishable by ten whips.

"What a luck? My luck is very questionable... hehe... he."

"... ten whips for you little kid."

"NOOOO!!" Feng was dragged into their humble home and was whipped by his father on the Third Stage Body Refinement
