20 The Lifeless Father

Days passed by again and Zhang Min Luo's poison was getting cured. He only needed approximately three more days before he is completely healed. By then, his Qi-Hampering rope should be secured.

Meanwhile, Da Lok was searching for Feng's parents. The problem is that once they were taken, their names would not be used as a slave. In other words, they can only go by appearances.

"I'm sorry, but I'm becoming too obvious and Yong Li might find out what I am doing."

Through these days, Feng learned who Da Lok truly is. Decades ago, he was just living normally as a sect member of a now destroyed sect under the Xi Dynasty. He was not a promising sect member so when the sect was raided by the Fanged Tornadoes back then, he was too weak to fight and die.

Easily, he was caught. There is a saying that a man can be captured but a strong man can only be killed. Da Lok's time as a captive was hellish but soon, he learned that he has talent at medicines for treating his own wounds and his fellow cagemates.

Not wanting to have a grim fate, he revealed his skills and was recruited by the bandits for healers were extremely rare for them. Healers are usually clergies who have strong faith in their religion.

In Ruhuna, there are three major factions: Holy Force, Unholy Force, and the Unbelievers. Churches all around the world are in the Holy Force and clergies are mainly in them. Why would a "Holy Person" work for bandits?

That is why Da Lok's status is very high. Resources were coming to him as if it was raining since he became a proper Physiker, making him breakthrough so much.

What does this imply? It implies that Da Lok has no real connection to this house of bandits. Him, betraying the bandits is to be expected and does not question his loyalty as he has no loyalty from the very start.

In other words, Da Lok's betrayal in the future will be pretty slim!

The contract doesn't state that they cannot hurt the contractor, putting Feng's life at risk. He was very lucky that he found Da Lok after putting into a very unlucky situation.

'Karma does work here... but how much is Da Lok exchanged for?' Feng immediately shook his head, thinking that this was karma. If it is, he would just become paranoid over his parents' fates is used to buy Da Lok.

Meanwhile, in the past few days, Da Lok had been progressing great at his mission. It was normal for him not to treat non-fatal wounds and diseases so no one questioned him shooing patients. Furthermore, he has a mission over saving Zhang Min Luo's life.

87% that's how much he progressed. However, the greater the percentage, the slower his progress becomes which is pretty understandable.

Zhang Min Luo was the same for Da Lok, they were both waiting for him to reach 100% to see if this is really true. If this is not, Da Lok may only let Feng explain. If he couldn't a proper explanation, he would at best, bring Feng back to slavery. But if Feng's reasoning is just bullshitting, Da Lok would execute this little fox.

Feng wasn't worried about this. He was 99% confident that there's nothing that would go wrong. The 1% is his doubt that it may go awry since the gap between their cultivation level is too wide.

However, on the surface, the scene was pretty lighthearted. After knowing that finding his parents are not that easy, he tried to hide his anxiety and depression behind his humor.

Thus, laughter would always resound from Da Lok's infirmary tent from time to time.

After another set of days had passed, Feng and Da Lok had been preparing a plan to escape. The plans, however, didn't include Zhang Min Luo. They had reached an unspoken consensus that the old swordsman will only consider joining Feng's side if Da Lok's became successful in completing the mission and getting the reward without anything shady going on.

Only 3% more until Da Lok completes the mission. Furthermore, about the content of the plan, it was still skeptical. Without Zhang Min Luo's help, their chances become lower. Only when the old swordsman enters the Fighter Guardian Realm would they have a chance to fend off Yong Li and his core fighters, all at the Fighter Guardian Realm too.

However, Zhang Min Luo killed two out of seven of these core fighters, making him definitely at the peak of this level. He just can't break through to Fighter Guardian Realm so if Feng's treasure is as good as he says it is, that would make him quite an asset.

'But I don't have any more time... Surely, his last mission would take a month at the very least.' Feng thought that is why he was avid on making plans without the old swordsman.

He wouldn't take the chance that his parents must be still safe.

At that moment, Da Lok brought sudden good news.

"Feng! I think I found your father!" he enthusiastically said, "I've ordered for them to find your parents for the reason of taking them hostage which they didn't doubt. Now, a possible person might be your father. Don't bring your hopes up to much since I may be wrong."

"B-bring him to me!" Feng immediately replied.

"Sure thing!"

Seeing this side on Feng as he "overreact" Da Lok found it amusing. If Feng is always calm and collected, his suspicion of this kid would heighten. But now, he's showing quite various emotions.

After an hour or so, a bandit kicked a man into the infirmary tent. Feng remembered the man's face and ingrained it in his mind. His eyes then rolled down to the man that is kneeling on the ground, his head drooped down, and wounds and bruises were etched all over his body.

Feng slightly trembled. He knelt and met his father's lifeless eyes.

"Dad!" he exclaimed from being overexcited. He didn't think why Boqing had a face like this since he doesn't want to talk about it. He continued to call.

There was silence within the tent as Da Lok and Zhang Min Luo heavily looked at the scene. They were not cold-hearted cultivators, they felt pity over this father and son. Knowing that Feng's father is only at the Third Stage of Body Refinement Realm, he must've been handled quite roughly.

Only when Feng slightly shook Boqing's shoulders did the latter looked up. Seeing someone familiar, Boqing took a moment before he processed the situation. He had already thought the worst-case scenario and seeing his son in front of him greatly baffled and lifted his spirits.

"Feng...!" Boqing finally responded.

[Hu...]

Feng heard a sigh of relief in his head but he didn't think of it that much as he was overjoyed.

"Yes, it's me, Feng!"

After hearing this, Boqing's smile widened. He began to be conscious of his surroundings and saw two men behind Feng. He gritted his teeth and even though he was exhausted and at the edge of his life, he jerked and went in front of Feng.

This lifeless man has suddenly endowed the image of a fierce animal, trying to protect his child.

"Woah, wait..." Da Lok waved his hands and whispered, "We are not enemies. We're not going to hurt your or Feng."

But this didn't stop Boqing from being desperate, scared, and dauntless. Only when it was Feng who explained what happened did Boqing was baffled and relaxed. Letting him sleep. Da Lok gave him a low-grade pill that would rejuvenate anyone from the Body Refinement Realm while he was asleep.

Soon afterward, his state got better and better as seen by their naked eyes. What a wondrous pill, Feng thought. But he just didn't know that cultivators at the Body Refinement Realm are just too weak that any cultivation resources to them are wondrous.

Zhang Min Luo gave up the best bed for Boqing to lie down and rest.

[It's fine now Feng. With your father here, surely he will know your mother's whereabouts.]

Feng just closed his eyes and replied to Rumia's reassurance inwardly.

'Don't give me false hope, Rumia.'

[So-sorry...]

'But still, thank you. I feel a lot better now.'

[Ah.. is that so...]

After a few more moments, Boqing woke up and looked around, thinking that seeing his son was just a dream. But when he saw Feng again, his eyes lightened up.

Feng then explained what happened but still kept the Cosmic Overlord Manual as that would just confuse his father. So without it, about half of his story is just made up.

"I-I see..." Boqing replied which then Feng finally asked.

"So, Dad, have you seen Mom?"

Tears began to appear on Boqing's eyes before nodding. This made Feng's clench tighter than ever.

"Fei... she's taken away. I don't know where she was taken but..." Boqing then broke down as his last memories of her resurfaced in his mind.

I didn't fell in love with you not because I seek strength

But just because you're the one I fell in love with.

...

You can cry, you know.
