10 Undead vs Humans

The Undead Giant threw all of his weight into the club, pushing Ariel down slightly.

'I said all that, but this will be a tough fight.', blood began dripping down his forearm.

"Hah!", pushing himself to the right, he allowed the club to smash into the cave behind him, beginning the collapse of his temporary home.

Dust and rocks flew into the air, crashing into trees and splitting them apart, ruining the aesthetics of the area.

Thud.

His eyes squinted as a rock smashed into his back, forcing him to stumble forwards.

"GRAAAAAAAR!", pus splattered across the ground, a mixture of spit and murky yellow liquid drooled out of its mouth as it twisted its head towards him.

The teeth-covered club hurled through the air, aimed at his back.

'Not enough time to counter, if only I had my arm.'

"Tch.", clicking his teeth, Mana rushed through his body, fortifying his back.

Crack!

Dull pain spread through his back, the club collided with his 'shield' but only a few cracks spread through it.

'The sudden increase in Mana made my control unstable.'

The Mana covering his back began flashing and dimming in brightness, "GHUURGH!", the Undead Giant dashed towards him, its speed contradicting its size.

The earth beneath his feet rumbled as the Undead Giant grew before his eyes.

'No, it's not fast, the problem is that it's too close to me.'

Raising his arm towards the Undead Giant he sent as much Mana into his hand as possible before it would crash into him.

Bang!

His body slid down a tree in the distance, his spine and arm aching from the impact, 'I overestimated my ability, normally my chances of winning a fight against an enemy of this scale in my current state are close to none.'

He gazed at his missing left arm, "So that's the difference between having one and two arms."

Thud... Thud... Thud...

It was slowly walking towards him, its pus-filled mouth rose upwards slightly as it looked down at him.

He smiled back at it, "I think you're forgetting something."

It stopped walking, the smile on its face frozen.

Rumble...

He lifted his hand upward, raising his index finger first.

"Number one, you're an Undead, with each movement you make, you increase the rate at which you break down."

Splat.

"URGHH!!!", the Undead Giant fell face first, its right leg squishing beneath its feet, worms squiggling outwards, the rotten flesh flattened into a pancake.

This time, he pointed his finger towards the ground.

"And number two, you forgot about the cave that just began to collapse beneath your feet."

The rumbling increased in frequency, the earth split apart with no warning, mutilating the undead giant into an unrecognisable blob of meat.

"Phew...", picking himself up, he walked towards the hole in the ground.

'No EXP gained, it's not dead yet.'

Looking down at the mixture of flesh he watched as it pulsated faintly.

"You're one tough bastard."

Hopping down into the hole he punctured through the flesh that still pulsated, ending its existence.

[10 EXP Gained]

Satisfied with the EXP he took his time climbing back out of the pit.

"Now let's leave before that other bastard arrives.'

-----

Dark purple Mana enveloped the land.

Squelch...

Yellowish red liquid squeezed out of the Knight's left hand, staining his armour.

A rumbling purple breath left its mouth, "Hoooh... The rat is smart.", it looked around and observed the battlefield.

"Destroyed ground, undamaged club and an Undead Giant that has been slain.", letting the rest of the liquid flow out of its hand it observed the mutilated body for a moment longer.

"But this Knight should be strong enough to deal with the rat."

Swoosh...

The purple Mana surrounding the area began clearing away, leaving behind a still Knight.

"Must. Kill. Rat."

Its previous intelligence nowhere to be found.

Back within the throne room...

Tap. Tap. Tap.

The Lich's fingers tapped at the armrest consistently.

"But it's weird, the rat has no traces behind it, but why?", its fingers stopped tapping.

'And it's not the first time either.'

A brief period of silence passed within the throne room.

"A coincidence?"

A small chuckle left its mouth.

"Heh, I don't believe in coincidences."

Raising his left hand towards the sky, a detailed map of the continent built itself out of the Lich's Mana.

"The rat will most likely go south.", an ensemble of blue dots could be seen marching towards a location full of red dots within the map.

An audible smile sat within its words, "With this, I will soon control half of Reynadral Territory."

-----

"It's no coincidence that the Undead Giant found my location, the Essence Ground is slowly beginning to recognise my scent, leading to the minions unconsciously finding my location."

Still, on high alert, he sat down next to a withered tree and regained his breath.

'Going north is bad, the further north I go the denser the Liches presence grows, I must backtrack.'

He began drawing a map within his mind.

'If I consider the location where I arrived the origin, then I'm currently North-Westish.'

'Originally I went directly north but my encounters led me west, if so then going directly south from here is my best option.'

He bit his lip.

"There's one problem, the Lich would expect me to do exactly that."

As he was planning, the pain returned to his body.

The veins on his face grew visible as he clenched his teeth, enduring the backlash from his fight, 'Not only did I not get the chance to stabilise the increase in strength, I went directly into a battle afterwards. I have to leave this place before I ruin my foundation permanently."

The pain began to subside.

'Another increase in Mana right after I increased my Mana a little while ago, he would beat me up if he saw what I was doing.', a small grin sat on his face.

He looked up at the dim skies.

"It wouldn't be so bad if he beat me up though.", a rare look of longing settled down on his pale face.

-----

Creak...

The Knight's helmet creaked as it turned its head towards the south.

"Lord says south."

BOOM!

The trees surrounding it were flung backwards, the powerful pressure from its movement destroying them.

"So south I go."

-----

"HURRY! ASSEMBLE AT THE WALLS!!!"

"THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!"

Alarms rang all over the fortress, men and women hurriedly put on their gear, their hands shivering and their teeth clattering as they prepared for war.

On the opposite side of the spectrum...

A lady with blonde hair stood sharp on top of the gate, the suns light glaring down upon her, illuminating her fresh expressions. Armed with a bow and loose robes, her back stood tall for all to admire.

Her dark eyes observed the approaching armies, a wave of dark blue Mana slowly culminating around her body, condensing and purifying itself over and over again.

Holding onto her bow with her right hand, she ran her soft fingers across the string of the bow.

"I hope to see you in the next life...", her quiet voiced laced with melancholy.

The man who had ordered the assembly of soldiers stepped up towards her.

"Helena.", a hint of guilt within his voice.

"What is it Suet."

His expression froze.

As he gazed at her back, her previous admirable posture turned into one of a frosty lone wolf.

Lowering his head, he continued speaking.

"I'm sorry for requesting your assistance."

"Heh.", she gave him a side glance.

"Don't try to honey your way out of it, that wasn't a request. It was an order for me to join you in death."

Just as he was about to continue speaking.

"Sir! We require your assistance!"

"Coming!"

Giving her one final glance, he stepped down from the top of the gates.

Leaving her alone.

She looked at the waves of Undead approaching the walls.

The fortress grew frosty as the footsteps of tens of thousands of Undead prepared their assault.

"GRAAUUUU--!!!"

"WARRR!!!"

"HEKEKEKEKE!!"

Freakish bellows attacked her.

"10 Squires are commanding this army.", her dark eyes turned pitch black, enhancing her sight by many magnitudes.

"Each squire is armed with a mace and a full set of armour, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them also know large-scale healing or attack magic."

'But there's something weird.'

She continued searching through the army.

"Someone is missing, the Knight who is meant to lead the army is missing."

The hand clasped around her bow tightened in excitement.

"There's hope!"

Turning around, she held onto the wall and amplified her voice with Mana.

"THE KNIGHT LEADING THEM IS NOT PRESENT!!!"

"Not present?"

"The Undead Knight is missing?"

"Ha!"

"HAHAHA!!!"

The army of soldiers broke out in laughter, but most importantly.

A glimmer of light existed within their eyes now, the shivering died down and the soldiers who had previously given up were truly prepared for war now.

Suet looked up at the blonde-haired lady.

"Maybe requesting you wasn't so bad."

"What did you say, sir?"

Suet scratched his nose.

"Nothing much."
