47 First we feast

"Tyler," Dave looked at me, "that was pretty fast, I mean I though training with a B-ranker will take a long time."

"Well, to be fair, that bastard's definition of training is pretty board. Also that thing wasn't "training", we had to literally run for our lives. I also had to feel how it felt to be completely vaporized." I whined like a little bitch.

Dave hearing my complaints and whining could only give me a wry smile, and then there was an awkward atmosphere in the room.

I really didn't want to fix it, since I didn't need to.

"We should probably eat some food, I probably know that the gauntlet will have in store. And trust me, you don't want to be doing it in an empty stomach." Osiric warned us.

I didn't know why he had said that, after all, with the flow as an energy source I could live a year without water and a decade without food. And after reaching higher ranks I didn't even need to eat, sleep, or drink - even breath if I am C-ranked.

But even then, I still nodded to him. Even Emma nodded, after all, if Osiric was worried we would have to be as well.

"Ok," I turned towards Dave, "let's go."

And like that we started walking downstairs towards the kitchen. And going down stairs, the aroma got even stronger. It actually made my stomach rumble a little, thankfully, wind magic and just the raw flow made me just stop the wave from propagating.

"Osiric, your mother really is good at cooking, isn't she?" Dave turned towards Osiric.

Osiric answered with a smug face, "Yeah, she has won like every single annual cooking competition in the village."

We already knew that, and it would also make sense that she wins. Since only like 60% of the population has skills high as that. And we are actually in the 10% of the people having skills in level 7.

"Wait, this village has an annual cooking competition?" Dave asked Osiric.

"Yep." Osiric nodded, "Why did you ask?"

"Well, it's just that, its pretty rare for a village to have an annual competition." Dave said.

Well, he was right, it was very rare for a village to have an annual competition. That's because they couldn't pay a lot of money for the food - most of the price comes from the transportation.

You may be saying, that's dumb, after all, aren't horses in the world too fast and there's a road that allows the vehicle to exist in every single state in both space and time. Well the thing is, labor costs are stupid high in this world.

I mean with how much people reach F-rank, about 60% of the population, we are getting paid more money than normal. There also isn't that much problem with the monsters.

You also the demon lord, but the people are too desensitized due to how many times the lord as came and gone.

If I just counted how much money Dave earned for travelling 1,000 km is probably about 5 gold. That's very high, since you could live a rich life - or what you consider to be a rich life back home - for a month.

"Mr. Rind pays for the transportation, so there isn't any problem. He does have 10 grand platinum to his name, after all." Osiric answered Dave.

10 grand platinum, or about 100,000 gold coins. If I was somehow able to convert it into dollars, or just a rough estimate, it was probably 100,000,000,000$.

Well this made me feel even sadder, if it was back home, we had just scammed a guy from hundreds of billions of dollars.

Though I quickly forgot my guilt. We then reached the ground floor, and then Osiric started to walk towards the kitchen.

Well, it was a little surprising. We didn't need any help getting to the kitchen, as I could feel Osiric's mom presence and that the aroma was quite strong.

So he walked first to the kitchen out of his own will.

While Osiric walked towards the kitchen, Emma still didn't talk with us - though she had started talking with Dave. I didn't worry about it, since, not only would it distract her from her family. I think it was probably for the best.

It's not like I made myself think that because I felt a little bad ignoring her, and would feel a little bored since I could only talk to Osiric today. It was not like that, at all.

"Oh, Osii!" Osiric's mother happily called him out.

Osiric just said hi. He then went to sit on one of the chairs around the dining table.

I just turned towards and look at his mom and hi. It was the same with Emma, Dave had already talked with her so he didn't say anything.

I had seen how his mother looked, since Osiric was pretty good at making mana figurines. But still, seeing her for real was really surprising.

She was very beautiful, even more than Emma - and she was way above average, even in this world. It made sense, after all, Osiric was more handsome than anyone I had ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if some guy's heterosexuality was broken due to him.

Her blond hair, blue eyes, her fair skin, and her body all made her look absolutely stunning. Though, if Osiric was a girl, he would still be more beautiful.

Then I went and sat next to Osiric, Emma sat on my side. Though she still didn't talk to us.

"Here you go!" Osiric's mom happily gave us some food, "Thank you!" I and Emma thanked her.

She then sat next to Osiric, "So, how was your time as an adventure?"

Osiric then started to talk about the adventures, thankfully, he didn't talk about the first week. That would make me, Emma, and Osiric lose our appetite due to how much of a fucked up experience it was.

Well, I and Emma didn't talk with this mom, since we wanted to give him some free time with his mom. Not because food was soo good that I and Emma were starting to tear up, eating it.
