30 Chapter 30: 1 Day Remains

"I am very sorry!" I apologized to Emma and Dave; Emma was still a little angry; while Dave just gave me a wry smile.

Osiric was behind me, looking at me. He was pretty happy, especially since he could finally start training with someone who was his equal.

Osiric actually didn't get a lot of experience from us, unlike the massive amounts of experience we got from him. Since, we were too weak to be a bother for him.

But now, I could fight with him and even win; he could start getting stronger faster. I should also be able to train Emma for a while; since I had level 6 skills, while she didn't.

"Ok, but make sure to not lose control again." Emma replied.

Dave couldn't do anything other than giving a wry smile.

But it was enough for me, I was very happy. Even though I knew that we would be together after a day or so, it still was a little sad.

It was about 6 am now, so Emma went to prepare some food. I wanted to ask her if she wanted to go to Osiric's village or not, though I knew her answer, I still had to ask.

Emma was the best cook among us; she was way better at cooking. Even though I liked cooking, my cooking was still average due to my lack of talent.

It was a little depressing before, but now, I had seen Osiric's talent in cooking. Which made me very happy - even though I know it's wrong.

Except for swordsmanship and pure magic, Osiric doesn't have talent in anything, no, it's more like he has negative talent. If Osiric cooked food, perfect following the recipe, he will, somehow, make food soo bad - it would be better to eat shit than consume it.

You will want to starve to death rather than eating his food, but now with his new curses, it will be even worse.

If you couldn't use magic to fill yourself up, Osiric won't be able to survive in the wild - due to his cooking.

...

"Really! You won against Os!" Emma was shocked.

"Yep!" Osiric answered, I only had a smug expression. Dave only looked at us, smiling kindly.

"Is that amazing?" he asked.

Emma looked at him, "Yeah, it is; we have fought Osiric over 100 times, and have lost over 100 times. And not only did we lose, but we also lost pathetically."

"Ok."

I then turned towards Dave and asked, "Dave, can we do the delivery faster?"

When Dave heard me say that he was very happy, since it meant his work would be faster. In an escort quest, the one being escorted had to consider the adventurers as well.

Since, adventurers were just helping them; and were not their bodyguards - though they were quest where you had to agree to do anything the provider says. Those quests tend to give high amounts of money; they are called guard quests.

A single G-rank guard quest would cost a person 10-25 gold. They were very expensive and were also rare. Guard quests are mostly given in person - so they weren't available on our cards.

"Sure! That will be very good!" Dave was very happy; not only did this party accept his quest for free, but they also wanted to the quest faster.

Adventurers were very lazy in nature, and would try to best their to rest as much as they can. It was one of the reasons the guild had introduced the deadline system.

"Then let's go!" I asked him, we had already eaten breakfast prepared by Emma - it was great as usual.

Though I was still surprised to find out that Emma still hasn't gotten her cooking skill. It's probably because she only uses basic ingredients.

Osiric had said that if she uses an intermediate monster's meat to cook, she will likely get the cooking skill.

We then started "slowly walking" - our speed was about 30 km/h. The horses could move faster, but the products were very fragile; so this was the max we could go.

The destination was about 1000 km away. Most of the way was through the Dark Forest - and due to Osiric's curse - we had to stop many times. Currently, we had only covered about 240 km.

I think the destruction I had caused last night should've scared away most monsters. If there were some remaining, we could easily kill them.

So we could travel a lot today.

...

It was 7 am, we have been on the road for about an hour or so. I thought that is was the perfect time to ask, "Hey Emma," I called her, "Yeah?" she replied.

"Do you want to go to Osiric's village? He said that he wants to go to his village after ranking and classing up - which should happen within this quest." I asked her.

"What about our schedule?" she asked.

But before I could answer, "We should be fine." Osiric answered.

Osiric then explained his reasoning, "Really! Tyler just got level 6 skills when fighting against you?" she asked in shock.

"Pretty much." Osiric answered.

I was still smug; Emma looked at me a little annoyed; but I didn't worry about it. "So, if you and Tyler and equal, who do you think is better to train with?" Emma asked Osiric.

"Probably Tyler, I only know melee combat, and am pathetic at ranged combat - the thing you specialize in. Plus, training with Tyler will be faster for you." Osiric replied.

His words made sense, so I agreed; Emma looked at me, "I am only going to be doing it because he said it, ok!"

This made me laugh hysterically inside; Emma knew that she was the weakest - combat-wise - in our party. But she was satisfied that there wasn't much of a difference between us - especially considering she had a support job, but because I beat Osiric, the balance had shifted.

She should have felt annoyed, since even back home, she was very competitive. So, me winning was always irritating for her.

And, due to the amount of trust; we had for Osiric's combat advice, she had to follow them, meaning she had to train with me. I would've rubbed her off if I hadn't done that.

But, alas, I can't. Otherwise, I will probably face her wrath.

Osiric then changed the subject, Emma ignored and started talking with him. It was satisfying; I also joined the conversation. We just talked about trivial stuff - it was fun.

"Well, seems like some monsters are coming near." Osiric then looked at our right and our left, "It was kinda weird that we didn't have monsters coming to us. But it seems that we - mostly Tyler - have probably killed most of the strong monsters in the area."

Osiric continued, "4 from the right and left, both strong mid-elementary class. I think Emma should kill them."

Osiric pinpointed eight monsters and their power with just his raw senses and instincts. I also had sensed eight monsters, but only knew that eight of them were near us.

I didn't know from which side they were coming from, and most importantly, I didn't know how powerful they were.

We were happy that Osiric could sense monsters easily; he said that it is because of his training sharpening his instincts.

"Ok." I agreed, though Emma just nodded - as she started to focus.

If we are talking about combat, Emma and I both used Gate of Babylon-esque attacks. We used them because it was cool and that we would have an omnidirectional attack.

Relatively, she would be better at that style of combat due to her having the archery skill. I didn't get archery because I was using spears, and since I already knew spearmanship, it would be inefficient to learn archery.

But at the end of the day, I would have stronger projectiles - relatively as well. So I don't want to learn archery; since it will be hard to manage magic, spearmanship, and archery - when with spearmanship, I could be almost as good.

Emma made about 8 arrows; this was because instead of brute force - like me - she focuses on precision - like Osiric.

"Ok, they should come in about 2 seconds; they are pretty fast." Osiric said to Emma, "You should be able to hit them on the head if you try."

"Ok," Emma then closed her eyes; and launched her arrows.

The arrows were pretty fast, not as fast as my spears; I was way stronger than her due to my levels and skills.

They were about Mach 10, way faster than what a mid-elementary could react to. She should also get some levels, especially since with how precise she was with her attacks.

Then in about a second, I sensed 8 beings just fall and stop. "I did it!" Emma said excitedly, Osiric and I congratulated her, though she looked a little angry when I congratulated her.

We hadn't stopped or told Dave that we had killed some monsters, so I came to the front of the carriage and said, "Dave, we have killed 8 monsters."

"Really! That was pretty fast, I didn't even see them."

"That's because Emma killed from afar." I answered, Dave, understood me.

"I will see you later if there is anything that happens." after saying that, I returned.

Osiric and Emma had already started talking, so I joined them.

Today there wasn't anything special; Emma killed every single monster before they could come to us. She said that she wanted to report her growth at night, Osiric, and I agreed with her.

...

We traveled for about 15 hours straight - though if you count our lunch - we only had traveled about 14 hours - which meant that we had covered about 420 km. Meaning we could finish our quest tomorrow.

It was about 9 o'clock, and we were preparing the camp. So, I and Osiric; were going to ask Emma about her growth.
