2 The Beginning

It all started when I woke up early Monday morning in cold sweat, although I didn't dream. I sat up, breathing rapidly, telling my self to calm down while my cat hopped onto my lap, trying to calm me down with his purring.

I grabbed my phone and checked the time, which read 6:30. "Shit" I whispered while rubbing my cat's head. I got up out of bed to my cat's dismay and hopped in the shower.

After soaking in the hot water and toweling myself off, I wiped the bathroom mirror and looked at myself.

My dark eyes were glittering with mischief that caused the teachers to put me in the front so I could be watched under their eyes and my dark, thick hair also added to my elf like appearance, even though I stood at a height of 6'2".

I went back into my room and got dressed in some clothes. I completed the look with my classic jacket. I was officially ready for school, at least physically.

I went into the kitchen, where my mom jumped. "Jesus, Sean!" my mom exclaimed, startled at my sudden appearance.

I couldn't help but chortle. I keep forgetting that I rarely made a noise everywhere I go, walking or running, which made my job easier.

Anyways, my mom was dressed in her nurse scrubs and she was getting some breakfast in a rush, hinting that she was needed at the hospital.

"Is there something wrong at the hospital?" I asked, seeing my mom scrambling for something to grab and go.

She didn't even pause when she replied "There's some sort of illness going around at the hospital and it is spreading like crazy. They are understaffed, so I am needed"

"Damn" I said, "Make sure you wear a mask or something"

My mom found a breakfast bar and slipped on a jacket. "It is cold outside, so please bundle up"

She gave me a kiss on my cheek and walked out the house, almost slipping on some ice that formed.

I shrugged my shoulders and grabbed my bag. I headed towards the bus stop and stood next to the girl standing there, who was shivering.

"Didn't you know to wear a jacket? It might even snow with how cold and wet it is!" I exclaimed while the girl squinted at me.

"Shut up" Sam said, as I put my arm around her, pulling her close to my warmth.

She snuggled into my side and leaned her head against my shoulder.

"Why are you so warm?" she inquired, clearly feeling my body warmth.

"Its my metabolism" I replied, looking down at her.

"Oh" She stated, "I forgot, because of your..."

The bus pulled up, causing Sam to be cut off her sentence. We got on and managed to find a seat for us.

"Shit, I forgot we had midterms again" Sam said, while burrowing into my chest.

"Yeah, it's only math today" I said, as my friend Russell peeked over the edge of the seat.

"You say 'only math', like it's easy. Actually, it is easy for you" Russell stated.

Russell was easily one of the only friends I had at school. Sam doesn't count, cause she's my girlfriend. Well, we were friends first.

Anyways, the bus pulled up to the school and we hopped out and went inside to the cafeteria to wait for 1st Period. We sat down at the table and were joined my a few of our other friends, Sara and Jason.

"Damn, that chill is something, right?" Jason said, pulling off his beanie to reveal his blonde buzz cut.

"If you had hair, you wouldn't be as cold" Sara stated, giving me a look that said 'This dude'.

"Shut up" Jason said, giving her a snide smirk.

We all started laughing, enjoying teenage bliss. That was until we heard a deranged yell.

"SEAN!"

We all jumped up and looked towards the source.

We all saw a young man in all black standing there, holding a shotgun in his hands, which he shot into the air, causing screams and the other students to scatter.

He pulled the pump, causing the empty shell to fall to the ground.

"We haven't finished what we started, asshole" said the lone gunman.

I recognized the voice as the one that almost put an end to Sam's life.

"Graham" I growled, pulling Sam behind me as he pulled off his mask, revealing dull, green eyes, a broken nose and an evil smirk.

Graham lifted up the shotgun and shot at me. Seeing this a mile away, I grabbed Sam and dropped to the ground behind the table that Jason pushed over.

I heard the pellets hit the table and I looked at Jason and Sara, who were clearly terrified.

"Sam and I are going to get his attention. He is focused on me, so make a run for it" I ordered.

They nodded and I reached into my jacket and pulled out the first weapon I had: A sharpened pencil.

I turned towards Sam, who also nodded.

"Start running first, stay in front of me. We are running to the bathroom" I said to her, and Sam gave me a thumbs up.

I heard Graham shout "Come out Sean, I'll make this quick"

I turned to my friends and held up three fingers. I mouthed '3,2,1'

I stood up and threw the sharpened pencil at Graham, who staggered as it penetrated his shoulder, letting off another shot as Jason and Sara bolted out and Sam and I ran into the bathroom.

We stood on either side of the door, and heard footsteps. Graham tore into the room, where I kicked the shotgun out of his hand.

Sam punched him in the gut and I kicked him in the knee, which folded with a snap as Sam pulled out the pencil and stabbed him in the thigh. I then hit him in the face with my fist and slammed him into the ground.

Sam and I were breathing heavily as we started to restrain him. I pulled off his shoes and socks as Sam pulled the laces out and tied his hands behind his back.

I shoved a sock in his mouth and used the other sock to tie it in as Sam finished the knots.

I turned to her. "You are perfect. We knocked him out, and neither of us got shot"

"I know, the training you gave me worked out" She stated, flexing her fingers.

I couldn't help but smile, at least until we heard a bunch of footsteps, and the door getting kicked open.

All I remember was a SWAT officer coming in and slamming his rifle stock into my head, causing me to black out.

Well, fuck
