40 The Adventurer's Guild

The Adventurer's Guild is almost the same as The Guild of Magic, except that it was restricted by nation, and a lot less powerful than the latter. It also accepted almost all professions and superhumans, including magicians, not that many opt to join this establishment. This fact also prevents the clash of ideals and interests between them and the Guild of Magic, allowing them to survive thus far.

It was a local organisation to the Leon Kingdom, and therefore enjoyed its support to an extent.

All of these factors combined to produce the Adventurer's guild, a gathering point for all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds, allowing them to either accept missions, apply for the creation of missions, or just hang out with others from the same profession in the bar on the floor above.

Unlike the Guild of Magic, the atmosphere here was 'Rowdy' to say the least.

Walking in, no one paid much attention to the group, especially since the one who stood out the most was actively using some sort of cloaking magic to completely extract himself from and senses directed in his direction. Furthermore, Luke himself also tried to mask himself completely for the low-levelled NPCs, and try to at least mask his appearance from the rest of the people.

Naturally, there would be a few who would be able to see through his magic, but they would be too high-leveled to be spies from The Resistance.

Looking around, Luke found a few traces of his energy to the door far on the right side of the square building.

Without bothering with most people, Luke walked forward, followed by the completely visible OriginalMagus, and the ever elusive old geezer Mark.

However, just before they reached the seemingly ordinary door, Luke stopped in his tracks. Seeing this, OriginalMagus also stopped, seemingly understanding that something was wrong.

"Hmph, such a weak illusion." Mumbled the old geezer Mark under his break. However, he did not take any action, afraid of disrupting destiny. This was something he had learned from his previous premonitions. The more he interfered before he received the 'solution', the harder it would be to receive said solution.

Instead, he just waited by the side, watching the situation like an unassuming bystander.

Luke frowned slightly, but ignored the old man's actions and instead turned his attention back to the door.

By now, he was using his Mind domain spells to cover both himself and OriginalMagus, thereby avoiding most people's attention.

Luke then Lifted his hand, pointing his open palm towards the door, while casting some sort of spell.

He did not have any skills or talents in the field of dispelling. Therefore, he had to first analyze the spell himself, before coming up with some changes to the structure of the spell to dispel it.

This was an extremely tedious task, and would take any Level 24 Novice Mage almost half an hour. Naturally, there were exceptions to this, like specialists who took on specialisation related to dispelling, or had unusual bloodlines.

Luke fell into the latter. This was the first time he realized the special ability of his Spectator blood. It greatly increased his perceptive abilities, as well as analysis and memory strength.

Without it, he would not have noticed the illusion in the first place.

Within 12 minutes, Luke cracked the spell. He could have finished the job in a few seconds by blasting the spell runes, or just blowing up the door entirely, but he was trying to keep a low profile for obvious reasons.

The Great Luke was definitely not afraid of some resistance chick. He was merely biding his time.

As soon as the door opened, Luke looked in, and saw Lucy. Now dressed in a tight fitting hunter's gear, standing in line with another 5 men and women, with similarly blank expressions. It was clear from the emptiness in their eyes, that each of them had been subjected to enough cruelty to make them lose their sense of self.

In front of them, was a man. This man was clearly not a native of the Leon kingdom thanks to his distinctively tanned bronze skin, and chiseled face. Leon kingdom was situated in a sweet-spot of the continent, with temperatures ranging from 15 degrees during winter to 31 degrees during summer. Therefore, most of the people here had light peach, or pale white skin, with rounded out facial features.

However, the Roland Theocracy and the Holy Kingdom of Islesat were located in rather arid regions. Temperatures ranged from 25 to 45 degrees in both countries, with Islesat using many methods to block their citizens from the worst of the heat. This was because the kingdom strived to ensure equal treatment among its people, in order to create the perfect kingdom for their Lord's descent. Therefore they were also rather white. However, these methods resulted in rather strong winds occurring throughout the Kingdom, which has resulted in most citizens evolving to have rather squinted eyes, with slightly longer eyelashes. [1]

On the other hand, Roland did not bother with such puny problems, and treated anyone who complained about the heat as a coward and weakling, not belonging to the kingdom. Their skin naturally turned distinctly bronze, with chiseled features.

Seeing them man, Luke and OriginalMagus both activated their [Inspection] discreetly. The latter very naturally received nothing, with all question marks, while Luke got to know the level of the man.

'Level 25!'

[1] Yes, I made them Camels. What will you do about it huh? XD
