59 Roberto

Luke had finally destroyed 'The Resistance' and was now on his way to return back home. Suddenly, a thought came to his mind.

'I should get a proper home.' He thought to himself.

Up until now, he had been living in a rented apartment penthouse of a 7-story building. But this made a lot of things incontinent for him.

Therefore, a proper bought home was needed. And while he was at it, why not make a full-blown base for Cards of Destiny while the players are offline? It would be a surprise for the players as well.

'Since I need to expand the common members to a large enough degree to be useful, I will need a large base. But that is talk of the future, since my finances are not skyrocketing anytime soon.'

While Luke was travelling in the underground metro system of MI9, he was busy counting sorting his finances out.

He had spent a bit on equipment for missions, and some more on food and other daily necessities. But overall, he had not blown away his money, and had accumulated a good amount of around 5 gold coins through various means, roughly translating to 1,500 bronze.

However, he would need to collect around 2 more gold, 1.6 gold to be exact, 2,000 bronze.

At this moment, Luke's mobile phone finally rang and a message popped up.

[Meet me at the base. I need to talk to you.]

[Phoenix]

'Hmm?'

Luke was confused at the sudden message. Although it did not seem urgent, the fact that Barton used a message instead of sending a more reliable, and unshakable subordinate over meant that it was something urgent.

Luke quickly replied [K] before closing the phone and slipping it in his pocket.

'Just how long will MI9 keep their technology hidden?' he thought to himself.

Due to his ties with MI9, he was able to get all the advancement knowledge needed up to 40. Now he was already at level 40, which was the max level of players for the entirety of Version 1. So now all he needed to do was to accumulate exp, and when the version update came, in a hundred years, he would be able to instantly shoot up in levels.

And that was his initial plan.

However, on the way back, he decided to get something to eat, since he hadn't eaten much over the course of the entire mission to destroy the last 'Resistance' bases, which was coincidentally their main base.

He got off at one of the stations in a nearby town Roberto, around 2 villages away from the capital of the Leon kingdom, Sozra.

Since he was involved in a tremendous number of missions, and had a lot of top-secret information with him due to his special status, he was not allowed to bond with any single team, and was continuously changed from one squad to another.

However, in the process, his own renown in MI9's lower to middle management and field members rapidly grew.

By now, almost all MI9 members who had not been away for the whole 1 and a half years since Luke's return knew about his existence, and were on slightly friendly terms with him.

Waving the people in the metro goodbye, Luke walked out of the watch store, which was the cover for the metro station.

Looking around, Luke quickly found a bar that was open at 3pm, and walked in, immediately being welcomed by a thick stench of alcohol and sweat.

Along with a resounding crash, a chair was flung in his direction.

Not being prepared for something like this, Luke only realised what was happening when the chair's leg had already begun to hit his mask. Although a little flustered, Luke quickly regained his clam and activated his barriers silently as the chair was deflected by his black '3-eyed Draconic Mask', with no loss in durability.

At this moment, a new notification popped up.
