54 Return of the Sage

However, Luke knew that only legendary points and levels were not enough. What was a long lifespan if you were crushed at a moment's notice. Luke remembered his days as a player where he sacrificed lives like they were god food.

There were so many dangerous missions he had taken on in order to grow stronger as quickly as possible, only to learn that others had already moved ahead him.

This time round things would be different. Not only would he quickly gain levels, he would also take everything else, leaving nothing for the players, or other NPCs!

Muhahahahaha!

Back to reality, Luke told Lucy to get ready to leave while he washed up.

10 minutes later, the two departed from the house and walked around random alleys. Luke remembered the way that he had travelled countless times before the Rachel incident. The path that he had chosen to walk, the path of dark justice. It was the path that led to one of MI9's bases.

Entering the base, he found the old man still seated behind the counter.

"Hey old man? You are still here?"

"Hmm?"

The old man looked up from his work. Being the middle of the afternoon, the shop was open and although there weren't any customers present, the old tailor was still working on some pants. Apparently, to make the shop seem less suspicious, it would be open for business like any other shop.

Looking at my face, the old man was slightly confused. Luke waited patiently, and the old man began to look closer at the black mask on Luke's face. Naturally, he had not written the words 'The Sage' on it.

He had learned from past experiences, and instead of flashing around his name with those masks, he would rather keep a lower profile when needed. He did not need to be a beacon of attention, and had come to the conclusion that living a life of adventure and action like the one he had planned out for himself in order to live longer, he would make a lot of enemies.

The enemies would slowly increase in strength and would definitely be stronger than Rachel. If he had to escape, and was walking around with a nametag on his face saying, "YOUR ENEMY IS HERE!" then he would die for sure.

Luke had already changed the writing on all the masks. He had used certain materials with energy in them, which was expensive, however expenses were necessary for his mask collection. No expense would be spared! Such materials were called Luke used the materials to erase the gold plated and painted words and made them into blank masks.

While he had been at this, he had spent some more money to create 8 more masks. These ones were special masks which did not have much effect other than improving the energy efficiency by 0.1%. The main reason Luke had created these masks was that they had a symbol on the forehead. It was just a symbol burned onto the forehead part of the full-face mask, which made the mask incredibly easy to make. Just take a normal full white mask, and burn the symbol onto the forehead before sprinkling some energy material powder onto it.

The symbol itself was the backs of three cards placed together at the base in the shape of a slight fan. This was the symbol of Cards of Destiny which Luke had come up with.

He could finally feel that his hard work of creating a secretive organisation was working out.

The old man stared at the pitch-black three-eyed mask that Luke had on his face and was still confused. Luke sighed and threw something at the man.

The old man caught it and looked at it. This was a card of identification, with a picture on it of a man in a white mask with the words the sage written on it, along with the words 'MI9 Agent' at the top.

The man's eyes widened as he turned towards Luke and Lucy, and Luke nodded.

"Tell them The Sage has returned."
