41 Culprit?

It should be known, that as levels increase, the disparity between each level also increases. A level 0 can injure, or even kill a level 10. During this period, strategy, skill, and luck mattered a lot during battles.

However, as the levels increased, it became harder to kill someone of a higher level than you. A level 17 would only barely be able to gravely injure a level 20 with a little luck, but wouldn't be able to finish the job.

A level 24, would definitely not be able to kill a level 25 under normal circumstances.

However, these were not normal circumstances.

The first thing Luke did was to quickly scan through the man's status, to find something rather useful, while he prepared for battle.

He signaled to OriginalMagus to prepare for battle as well, and the two waited for a few seconds while preparing.

Luke's Mind affinity was incredibly high, allowing him to affect those even higher level than himself, to a certain extent. It had even worked on that scary Rachel… ahem irritating. Definitely not scary.

Since this man was only a single level higher than himself, and was not even paying much attention to his surroundings. He was focused on instructing and questioning the slaves in front of him.

After a few seconds, Luke had finished preparing his attacks, and so had OriginalMagus.

He temporarily stopped using Mind magic and instead attacked using the three spells he had prepared earlier, while using the now freed space in his mind to weave together even more spells.

As soon as his attack was released, both he and OriginalMagus received a quest notification, along with a quest completion notification merely 2 seconds after that along with another notification of killing a level 25 human. On top of that, Luke received an extra notification for getting the finishing blow on the enemy.

You have dealt the finishing blow to a being who has reached the level of a mini-boss in phase 1 of Version 1.0

You have received 1000 exp for being the first to do so.

Phase one was the first 2 in-game months for the players. Version 1 would last for nearly 100 in-game years until the war was over. Therefore, all Versions were divided into phases. Phase 1 of Version 1 lasted 2 months in-game from the release of Version 1.

At this moment, Luke re-initiated his mind magic on all the low level people in the guild.

"Huh? Did you see that explosion?"

"Idiot! You have been drinking too much."

Similar scenes occurred throughout most of the tables, excluding only the sharpest of adventurers and those who were too high-leveled for Luke's Mind Magic to work on them.

Without another word, Luke took out 10 silver from his 3 gold savings, which equaled to half a gold coin, and placed it on the floor as payment for the damages.

This greatly reduced the malicious stares coming towards him from the second and third floor of the guild.

He then continued to write a note,

"Hi. I am sorry for the disturbance. This man kidnapped my slave. I came to retrieve her. He is also a spy from Roland. I assume you know what this means. I'll leave it at that. Regard, The Sage."

With that, he took out another mask of his and placed it on the thoroughly impaled, burned, frozen, sliced, and completely unrecognizable body of the dead man.

He then walked over to Lucy, and undid his Mind Magic on her, allowing her to see him, which caused tears of both joy and fear to well up in her eyes.

"Its alright. I didn't rescue you for my own business back at the slave shop. And nor did I come today to punish you."

Hearing this, she calmed down slightly, before she began walking out of the guild with OriginalMagus, and the invisible Old Geezer.

Once they were outside, the girl finally gathered up enough courage to ask,

"Then why did you save me?"

Luke looked over at her before smirking.

"Don't you want to know the real reason behind your family and villages' destruction?"

Hearing those words, a shiver ran up Lucy's spine, as he mind was thrown into chaos.

'The culprit wasn't bandits? Who was it?! Who was it that killed my parents!??!'

[1]He has received the same amount exp as when he killed the twin-headed eagle creature, since the disparity in strength was similar. Exp does not depend solely on the enemy or the task. It depends on how difficult it is for you to complete the task or kill the enemy.
