As the auction progressed, I removed my cloak. It was getting stuffy and I didn't need its protective abilities with Killian, Niles, and Aleran around.

What I didn't expect was to see Killian scrutinizing my jeans and the blouse.

"Do you have a change of clothes?"

"Yes," I confirmed, oblivious to his intentions. "In case I get dirty or wet, I got replacements."

Killian cocked an eyebrow at me, and I realized that he didn't approve. Considering designers' pieces that are filling my closet, these looked plain. The things I was wearing were expensive clothes, but they were not good enough for vampire royalty. Will he ask me to put the cape back on?

I knew that Calista was wearing fancy dresses and gowns, custom made for her by famous designers, and I would always dress up when going in public, but I didn't think that applied to this situation.
