Chapter 5: Live

"Haru!"

A cheerful voice echoes while calling my name from a cramped dimly lit room with only two metal beds. Despite the atmosphere, the girl's smile was warm and innocent, not appropriate for the surrounding and situation were in.

"what?"

I answered her casually, shifting my gaze elsewhere as I lay on one of the bed and began to look up at the ceiling. Soon, strands of long brown hair came into my field of vision, and that smile was back in my line of sight. I squinted my eyes in irritation at how bright she is.

"Let's stuff ourselves with delicious foods and live our best lives after we leave this place!"

the girl spoke with optimism while giggling as she look at me.

"Will that happen?"

I asked in a sarcastic tone since I knew that dream of hers was impossible to come true. i look away from her but cant help but to feel a bit of hope.

"yes!"

Pit.. pat...

I feel numerous drops of liquid drip on my cheek, The upbeat voice I typically hear from her is beginning to falter

"Just trust me...."

Now I slowly realize she isn't so bright anymore.....

Were both being pushed to the edge.

"ugh..."

When I opened my eyelids, I could feel something wet on my cheeks and eyelashes. The same white ceiling soon welcomed me as I sighed in relief when I realized it was only a dream.

"....hey"

when I turned to see who was speaking Seo shin was sitting in a chair at the side of my bed.His voice was firm yet had a gentle quality to it, but...

'Why does he look like that?'

My back began to sweat profusely as I noticed that his face was stiff and that his brows were furrowed so deeply that he almost appeared constipated. Is he suspicious of me?

"um.."

I spoke in a raspy voice but my body feels light. did the transferring succeeded?, I wondered how long I had been asleep while I attempted to rise up my upper body but suddenly a hand was placed on my shoulder firmly staying me down.

"Don't move"

"seo-ssi?"

"Don't talk too"

Though dumbfounded I complied with his demand and remained silent. Despite what his actions suggested, there was no sign of hate or anger in his brown eyes when I looked into them. he made a small movements and took a glass of water off the side table. However, he didn't hand it to me instead he let go of my shoulder and he put his other hand under my head, raised it slightly, and brought the glass of water to my lips.

"...I can drink it myself." not expecting a cold guy like him to act like this, i immediately feel goosebumps on my body. He ignored me and gives me the impression that my hand will easily break if i hold the glass of water, even if I'm fine.

"drink"

I can't help but just scoff inwardly at how a S rank hunter can act like this, The public perception of him as I learn from the butterflies is that he's a righteous and vigilant person but I don't see it at all Because of his persistence and such attitude, I simply drink the water that he pushes me to drink, even though I have no trust in him, I'm well aware that he's capable of killing me easily and that doesn't need to poison the water. after emptying the glass he seem to be satisfied and gently laid my head back down to the pillow and place the glass back in the table, I waited for him to sit down again before saying what was on my mind.

"how long was i unconscious?"

"two days"

'.....two days' i cant help but to sigh in satisfaction inwardly while i closed my eyes.

It wasn't surprising as I was pushed to my limit using my butterflies and receiving Adonis's power, I expected to stay comatose for a week but gladly it only took two days to wake up but in the end I pretended to be shocked and in disbelief in order to avoid further suspensions, and he nodded as if he had expected it, confirming that what he had said was true.

"That ability of yours... is dangerous"

Seo trail off as he spoke seemingly found out why I'm in such state making my eyes widen but immediately calmed down

'They probably figured it out because of the healers'

Only healers can know how hunters acquired their injuries but cannot know the reason, for short they are like doctors in the hunter world, they would see if one injury came from a ability, weapon and more.

In my case they probably figured out that it was because of my ability, its quite obvious too since I only received internal injuries.

I nod at seo not saying a word as I look down at the white blanket that was covering me acting to be sad soon my eyes turns at him, his eyes are full of curiosity as he slowly leans his face to me showing his well defined jawline, tall nose and his attractive features.

"Tell me"

his large hands slowly went towards my neck warping it around giving a light squeeze as if giving me a warning that he could break it easily making me smirk and scoff internally

'How can they kill their precious information?'

He's probably just doing this to make me spill out the truth by instilling fear on me, I slowly placed my hand into his hand as my eyes innocently looks up to him.

"Seo-ssi... Will you believe me?.."

'Will you believe my lies?'

I ask innocently at him as he saw this his eyes that are pure of coldness has a hint of softness. Making me smile internally as I found his weakness

'So he likes innocent ones...so naive'

"I will"

He replied with stern tone while looking into my eyes seemingly trying to find a flaw, I laugh slowly in my mind as I look back into his eyes

"My abilities... are very unsual..."

I started to speak making him let go of my neck as he confirmed that I wasn't trying to lie making me think of multiple things.

'Is he really this easy?'

"This ability of mine eats my insides to acquire power for short they have their own consciousness..."

It's true... this things are alive unlike normal abilities that a hunter can control, abilities arent alive and hunters can control it in their own free will like wind, earth and etc.

"....What?"

Seo who was listening cautiously look shock at my revelation and now was seemingly in deep thought as his face turns cold again

"Thats impossible.... is it a beast contract?"

He asked sternly not believing me at all making me go dumbfounded

'I thought you'll believe me you b*stard?'

I rant and grumble internally as I secretly roll my eyes at him

"No it's not a beast contract..."

Beast contract are acquired by a special awakening, they are beast that has their own consciousness and will form a contract with you but the capability of your beast only depends on how special your awakening is, the usual beast contracts is acquired by a S class hunter awakening but they're are special cases that A hunter ranks acquired this beast contracts too.

Seo face turn more grim as he heard this and soon stood up from his chair while looking at me but immediately turned away and walk towards the door

"Rest"

He coldly and shortly spoke while leaving the room seemingly in a hurry making me let out a sigh of relief
