1 New life

In a dark room, a blue ball of light floated over a throne in front of a big crystal. The red crystal had the size of a Beachball and was floating around a meter above the ground, illuminating the room in a red hue.

The blue ball of light was Tom, who died and got reincarnated as a dungeon master. After he died, he woke up in the darkness and heard a voice that told him about his second life. The voice told him that he could do whatever he wanted, but he had to build a strong dungeon and release monsters regularly to hold up the balance in this world. In this world, humans have been at war with stronger demons for more than a hundred years.

Before he came here, Tom, also known as the Evil Mage, was about to rob a bank when suddenly his archenemy crashed through the roof. Before he could use a spell or even think of it, Tom was already chained. But this time his enemy did not throw him into prison; no, he swiftly snapped Tom's neck.

'Sigh... i was the most feared and famous supervillain in my homeworld and now this! Well, i can't change it anymore. Who would have known that the heroes would kill me this time and not imprison me like always? Let's just look into the dungeon menu and do what that strange voice wanted.' Tom thought when he lazily floated to the red crystal and bounced against it.

-Dungeon Menu unlocked! Dungeon Menu can now be opened with a thought-

So Tom gave it a try and it was surprisingly easy. Just after thinking of it, a blue transparent screen appeared in front of him.

[Dungeon Core]

Dungeon Master:

Name: Tom

Race: N/A

Dungeon Core:

-Threat Level: 0

-Floors: 0

DP: 0

Shop:

-Monsters

-Floors

(Starter Gift) x1

------------------------------------------------

With that, he also got headaches, but they quickly disappeared only leaving a few memories of information about dungeons and this world. Tom put the pieces of information aside first and just looked at the screen again.

'Hmm, let's check monsters first!'

-Slime

-elemental Slime (Air, Fire....)

-King Slime

-Goblin

-Hobgoblin

...

A nearly not-ending list of monsters appeared in front of Tom. Next to the monster's name was a price, but he didn't pay attention to it because he had a fortune of 0 DP. The Floors tab looked like this:

-Add 1 Floor

-Add 2 Floors

-Add 5 Floors

...

-Decorations

-Traps

-Layout

But the last thing was the most interesting for Tom now! He placed himself on the throne again and opened the Gift by thinking about clicking it. After that, a new window appears.

-1000 DP

-1 Free Floor

'Nice, but i still don't know where I am or what is in front of my dungeon.

If it was a forest, everything could be fine, but a town could be a problem.' Tom floated up and down in front of his throne while thinking.

He was just sitting in this dark room and couldn't see what was on the outside, so he was a little worried about what would happen if he activates the first floor. The description said when he activates the first floor the dungeon would automatically open. He thought about summoning monsters first and sending them up to the first floor after he activated it, so he was now looking for fitting monsters. But then he also did not know how big the floor would be, so if he would buy a hundred monsters it would be a problem if the floor was just the size of a small room.

After thinking for a while, he just clicked on the 1 free floor from his starter gift and the whole room started to tremble. On the other side of the room, a hole with a stair leading up appeared, letting dim light shine into his small room. Tom flew closer to the stairs and inspected them. He couldn't see the end of the stairs despite being illuminated by torches every few meters. When he was about to fly up to investigate his first floor, a new screen outlined in red popped up with an alarm. The screen showed two men in dripping wet clothes standing in front of a cave opening panting heavily. They had bows strapped to their backs and each held 3 rabbits tied up on a rope. Strange was that the cave opening was in the middle of a wide grassland and Tom could hear them clearly through the screen.

"Haaa...Haaaa... perfect weather for hunting, you said! Sun and a light breeze guaranteed, you said!" The younger-looking man said, panting.

"Ahh come on it is a little rain! And your wife will surely be happy about what you bring home!" The other older-looking man with a thick beard said.

"Yes, surely! But now she won't be happy when i come home la... Where are we?" The younger man asked in shock when he looked around.

"Don't.... don't tell me a dungeon opened here! This was a normal cave a few days ago!" The older man said looking around with wide-open eyes. But then smiles widely and said.

"If this is a Dungeon we have to tell it the village elder! You know what that means?" He looked at the young man and grabbed his shoulder.

"That this is dangerous and we have to move somewhere else?"

"NO! Adventurers will come to our little village! When Adventurers come then also Merchants will come and that means money!"

"But wouldn't they just go in and destroy the core?" The young man asked, placing his belongings on the ground and sitting down.

"No, the Adventurers Guild prohibited that. Dungeons are a great source of Magic stones or Monster cores, Items, Treasures, ore, and also Monster materials! And another important part is the adventurers use dungeons to become stronger!" The old man answered happily when he pulled out dried meat from his bag.

'Interesting seems like i can build up my Dungeon in peace!' Tom thought when he was eavesdropping on their conversation. With that, Tom opened the Dungeon menu again to change the environment to something like a forest. Under the layout tab, he found a lot of possibilities like Forest, Desert, Jungle, and many more. When he chose the Forest option, the whole Dungeon shook again to the surprise of the two visitors. Like crazy, they grabbed their stuff and ran out. Tom just shrugged his not existing shoulders to that and flew up the stairs to see his new floor personally.

The closer he came to the end of the stairs, the brighter it got, and when he finally reached the end he couldn't believe what he was seeing. It was so bright, and when he looked up, he got blinded by the sun.

'Wait! The sun? Isn't this supposed to be underground? Maybe a Dungeon floor is something like its own small world. I need to investigate this more! Well, first I have a little to work on this floor!' He thought when he started to float in the opposite direction of the staircase. After around 5 minutes he saw a small chest in the distance.

'So treasures would be placed automatically huh? That's great, so I don't have to bother with that!' He thought pleasantly surprised.

'I can't bother with that now i have to make sure nobody will reach my core! Who knows if what the two said is true. Let's change the environment to something that will make it harder to get through!' With that, he opened the Floor Layout tab and looked for something fitting.

When he chose Illusion Forest, Fog started to appear all around him and hindered his sight. The Illusion Forest is a foggy Forest that will constantly change and let you get lost or walk in circles.

'Oh shit! I didn't think it would happen like this!' Tom thought when he looked around only to find himself in a foggy forest where you can't even see further than 20 meters. The layout cost him 250 DP, but he was happy to see that he couldn't see that much.

'Hmm, what i need now is monsters, but what kind of monsters should i pick? For this may be undead would be fitting!' Tom chose to buy 10 skeletons because they only cost 5DP each and come in groups of three. When he confirmed his choice, nothing happened.

'Hmm, i thought they would just suddenly appear in front of me. Huh... okay, seems like when i choose monsters they would directly be on the floor, interesting!' Tom thought when he suddenly saw a skeleton passing by as if nothing had happened.

'Baah, in my former life i sometimes used illusions to scare off bank employees, but this is the real thing! Disgusting! Hmm, can i command them? Hey you, do a flip! Ohh! Well, it tried.' Right after Tom thought the command, the skeleton hunched down and jumped up and crashed with its back first on the ground with a thud. He could not help but laugh. They just looked like one would imagine, with no clothes and no weapons.

Flying around on the first floor for around an hour, he found several places where treasure chests were hidden. But this place is way too big for just a few skeletons to be an obstacle for Adventurers. So Tom also brought a bunch of Will-o-Wisps and a pack of wolfs, which cost him exactly 200 DP leaving him with only 510 DP. The strange thing here was that all 12 wolves immediately came over and gathered in front of Tom. The Wolves were just average gray Wolves.

'Go out and hunt some animals, but only kill them inside this dungeon!' Tom ordered. He wanted to check if he could get some DP like that. Furthermore, he actually wanted an intelligent monster that was able to talk, so he would not get bored, but they were expensive. He could also buy himself a body, but the price...

Tom went back down and sat on his throne to wait for the wolves. He opened the menu and looked into the Decorations Tab; there were, lamps, statues, fountains, and he could even change the Dungeon entrance. Most things under this tab were cheap because they didn't help him defend the dungeon, so he bought a few torches to light the core room a little.

'A little more time and i make a real throne room out of this.' Tom thought happily.

After waiting for around an hour the first wolf came back, it has carried a rabbit in its mouth and as soon as it was only a few steps inside Tom could hear a crack. After that, the wolf just dropped the rabbit and walked out again.

[+5 DP]

'Hmm, not much, but it surely it will help!' Tom thought while he was playing around with the menu.
