10 A Murder Investigation

"Investigate a murder?! I can't do that!" Rainn exclaimed as the next text appear before his eyes.

There's a law department here in Al'Modred city who is responsible to make sure people are obeying the law.

They are called the Federal Bureau of Royal. They serve as the only department that can conduct any punishment for every law-breaking activity.

And they are very strict. Rainn can't just go into investigating a murder. Or he will be a suspect.

"I can't do that, Tut," said Rainn while shaking his head.

'There's a punishment if you don't complete the Quest.'

"What punishment?" Rainn asked with an uneasy feeling.

'You will have to fight a certain amount of wave of monster.'

Rainn thought the punishment is worse than the Quest. So Rainn doesn't have a choice except to complete the Quest.

'Don't worry Systema will provide clues for you. You just have to follow that clue and complete it. It's not as hard as you think actually.' Tut explaining.

"Why do that?" Rainn feels confused.

'Because this power wants to help you. But, it will not just give you power for granted. You have to earn it. And also, Systema itself cannot just solve problems. You have to be the one who solves it. Systema will only provide help.'

"But it's not my problem." Said Rainn.

'It will become your problem in the future.' Tut answered like it's just a matter of fact.

Rainn's eyebrows curved. "You know the future?"

'I only know the certain part that Systema allowed me to know.'

Rainn mumbled as replied. "So the murder is already happening or just a prediction?"

'It's already happened when the Quest was announced.'

Rainn nodded, "Okay, then maybe I should get moving."

'Don't need to be hasty. It's a one-week quest.'

"But its a murder. If I don't move fast there's nothing will leave at the crime scene." Rainn said as he begin to stand. "The faster I moved the better."

Rainn goes to the shower. After a few minutes, he returned and get dressed. He looked at the clothes Vyra gave him before. And planning on returning it soon.

Rainn grabs his notes and pen, then head out.

'Where is the murder happening?' Rainn begins to speak his mind again.

'It's in the city library.' Answered Tut.

So Rainn heads out to the city library. But one thing is concerning his mind. He is investigating a murder case alone. A sixteen-year-old boy. Rainn hopes he doesn't come across any of the Bureau officers.

The city library is a large three stories building. The building is made of red brick which looks so striking because it is different from the surrounding buildings which are made of metal or brick which is duller.

Rainn just visited this library about two weeks ago to do his school assignment.

When he steps inside, he already can feel the silent atmosphere and scent of thousands of books that have been here for a very long time.

'What should I do next? I don't see anything wrong.' Asked Rainn.

[ You have arrived at the Main Quest location. Clue will be updated ]

The translucent text that appears in front of him becomes the answer.

Rainn walking further inside. There are not many people in here. Like always. The library is never been a favorite place for many people.

[ Go to the second floor ]

Rainn followed the instructions. Then he arrived at the second floor where the archives room is located.

[ Inspect the door ]

Rainn began to inspect every door that led to the archive room. Every door is closed and locked.

Except for one.

The door at the most end of the corridor is slightly opened. Rainn immediately heads there and takes a peek inside.

What he sees is something Rainn already predict. There's a dead body there.

'Like I thought. I should just call the Bureau right now.' Rainn thought.

[ Check the body ]

Rainn sighing. But it's not something he completely surprised. He takes a look at his back to check if anyone sees him. But nobody seems on the second floor right now.

So Rainn headed inside then closed the door behind him. He walked to the body and examine it.

It was the body of a middle-aged man. His fancy clothing was covered in blood. He looks like a noble.

Rainn squats beside him and touches his forehead. Still warm. But this guy is so pale. Like all the blood in his body was sucked dry.

[ The first clue discovered: the blood of the body was sucked dry. Seems to be the cause of death ]

Rainn takes a closer look at his neck which seems to be the source of all the blood.

At first, Rainn thought that the wound in his neck are a stab wound. But then he discovered two holes in there. Adjacent to each other.

'What is this?' Rainn looked at the hole wound. It's the first time he sees something like that.

[ The second clue discovered: two hole wounds ]

So this man was killed by something that sucked his blood dry by making a hole in his neck. What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Rainn thought.

Then Rainn discovered a white leather wallet beside the dead body. He opened it.

'Shit, it's the House Saniar.'

House Saniar was a noble family who was well renowned for their big influence in the kingdom. Somebody who was murdering him must be some kinda lunatic.

[ The Third clue discovered: The man was from a noble House called House Saniar ]

Rainn has brought himself to something bigger than he can handle.

'Tut, I think I can't do this.'

But Tut doesn't answer. Rainn suddenly has a feeling that he must get outta here. And fast.

Rainn run toward the door then peeked outside. Seeing nobody was there, Rainn headed outside and walked away immediately.

When he was outside the sun felt stung. Then Rainn heard the alarm sound from inside the library. Looks like someone was discovered that body right after he leaves.

Rainn sighed in relief. His guts were real.

The car patrol of the bureau stopped suddenly in front of him. Then two officers came out. They wore a black coat with a black breastplate that has a symbol of shield and hammer.

"What happen kid?" Asked one of the officers to Rainn.

"I don't know. I just came out and then the alarm started." Rainn answered with genuine surprise and panic. But for a different reason.

The bureau officers didn't reply and they just walked hurriedly inside. Rainn walking away.

Suddenly all of the panic and worried Rainn had felt a couple of seconds earlier vanished. He smiles when seeing the text.

'Congratulations, you have leveled up.' It's Tut's voice.
