12 Chapter 12: Exchange

Just as the mother of the child came to him, Wan removed his hood.

His face cannot be seen so he removed it and showed those people a smile.

Meaning that he meant mo harm or he was just happy that somebody came forward.

the mother of the child naturally bowed to him before speaking something that he doesn't understand.

"maybe that means thank you?"

he concluded that it was a thank you gesture of some sort thus he waved his hands like saying 'no problem'.

Wan then pointed the three candies on the mat.

Around four people came forward because they saw wan wearing a smile on his face.

Other than the mother, three were old men with seasoned skin from the fields also came.

"He is so young"

"A young noble doctor. "

The villagers around also saw his face and saw him smile that they began to talking to each other.

of the four people beside him, the mother of the child told the others to just remain quiet.

"He won't understand us so don't talk anything unnecessary, lest we confuse him or yourselves."

Wan saw the mother talking to the other four and he raised a thumbs up to the mother then he smiled, he then put his thumbs down then he frowned.

This shocked the other three men and made them shiver, afraid that they might have angered the noble.

Wan then brought a thumbs up and showed a bright expression.

Then another thumbs down accompanied by a frown.

By this time, the mother looked like she understood him and also put up a smile with a thumbs up.

"Oh yes! A genius! A freaking genius! Women sure are intelligent. This aunty may have the best brain in here. Id just talk to her more. Is the word 'talk' appropriate?"

Wan pointed the candies and then he took out a coin made out of bronze, looking like a cent fron a certain country's currency back from earth. Then wan pointed the candy and again pointed the coin again. By this time the mother immediately reacted and took out a coin also from her pocket. It looked like an old bronze coin with rough,round edge at the size of a finger and presented it into wan.

"A freaking genius! This aunty might be sent by heaven for me. I hate how nobody could understand me here. Me watching silent movies was not for naught. I can convey messages through non verbal actions easily. Well, maybe for now."

Wan raised a thumbs up and smiled.

He then picked up the candy and handed it to the mother while getting the copper coin on her hands and then he made a thumbs up gesture again.

"He's selling things! I see! His robe was somehow similar the merchants who came here. I thought he was a doctor! Wait, he may be a noble from the other lands but ended up not being able to use his money here. So he came here for a trade"

The mother told the other three men of her findings.

"How did you say so?

"did you see the bronze coin he was holding? Its incredibly shiny has markings on it. If I'm not wrong, the markings was a Man's face. Maybe a king! Kings love to print their faces on their currency so its only exclusive for them to use."

"Then why is he here?"

"He doesn't know our language, he has no money but plenty of luggage. I guess he might be traveling then he got lost. Maybe he came from the east, after all the east has a different language and culture from us in here"

Then a man suddenly remembered about the candy that the noble exchanged for a copper coin.

"Wait, so we can buy an elixir for 1 copper?"

"That might not be case"

"How? Didn't he just gave you one?"

"You see--

As they are talking, the noble took out a silver coin and did the same as pointing the elixir and then back to the silver coin

"Ho--how? Why?"

"The copper might only be a reward for me and for me only, seeing that I can understand him, he gave me this for a price of a single copper. I think the elixir might be even cost for a gold, I've seen some before being sold for even a hundred pieces of gold or so."

"I remember that you have experienced the capital. That must be how you can perceive things easily as us old farts."

"I just widened my horizons there, im just lucky the chief brought me."

As they were talking, and old man came from the crowd and walked to them.

"Village chief!"

"Village chief!"

"Chief!"

"Old man! Here!"

The four of them called to him to come quickly so they can discuss the details about the noble selling elixirs.
