My System Laughed

"What the!” He exclaimed, subconsciously grabbing his chest but the orb had already gone in.

‘It went into me right?’

‘Obviously.’

He couldn't help but remember Lord Gajeel's words. 'The higher an orb is suspended from the ground, the more potential it's likely to have.’

The height, the glow, even the size, everything about those two orbs screamed weakness. He couldn't believe it. He was doomed.

His guide let out a deep sigh.

‘I guess you got the screwdriver after all.’

‘Shut the fuck up!’ He screamed internally.

‘Yea!’ She also screamed like a scared little girl.

‘Who knows, maybe you're the one who jinx me earlier,’ he frowned.

‘I’m innocent.’

He wasn't going to fall for it this time.

‘Your nothing but innocent.’

'Then how do you want me to ease you? Oh! I got one. While you bath I'll……..’

'Argggh!’ Art exclaimed. She was just too impossible. He had been having problems with bathing because of her. If it was up to him, he wouldn’t, but then again he had to.

He headed back to where he previously was, not in the best of moods. Just before he got there he stopped.

‘I’m sorry.’

'Hmm?’ She was obviously confused. 'For what?’

‘I guess I overreacted earlier.’

'Don't be silly. I love it when you get annoyed and angry. It makes you seem more alive.’

'I see. Don't get cocky, you won't be hearing that every day,’ a smile appeared on his face as he continued walking.

When he got there, he was greeted by the sight of only seven people still conscious and all of them were showing signs of collapsing anytime soon.

Iris, Beatrix, Drake, Charles, Frigga, the girl with brown hair colour and most surprisingly the boy who seemed like the most tired in the whole world. He sat down as he kept yawning and yawning, now he even looked more tired which Art wouldn't have found possible.

Frigga seemed like he was going to collapse in just a few seconds, and seeing Art stroll in casually, he bit his lips in anger drawing some blood.

‘How! How is this runt still awake, he barely seems affected. How is this possible? No! I can't bring myself to lose out to him.’

Frigga seemed to be internally giving it his all to stand up. Art kept staring at him blankly as he stood up and locked eyes with him.

He was obviously at his limit and just after he took a step, his pupils rolled up as he fell limply.

“I guess that's it for him.”

Art shifted his gaze to the higher orbs as one of them flew down before entering Frigga’s chest.

‘Damn! That was high. I guess he got lucky.’

The girl with brown hair also collapsed with a similar thing happening, bringing their total number to six.

The rest of them noticed Art’s presence and they were all shocked. Not only was he still standing, he also seemed unfazed.

Maybe it was due to the shock that Charles also fell unconscious as an orb even higher than the other two flew into his chest.

Iris wanted to say something but Beatrix beat her to it by walking weakly towards Art.

“I knew it. I knew you were special. Why don't we spar when this is all over.” She was about to rest her body weight on him which was something almost anyone would happily agree to but he sidestepped making her to fall to the ground.

“That’s not a nice way to treat a lady,” she pouted while sitting up.

Drake who usually had a confident smile now had a bitter one. He was at his limit. He never expected as many as four people to show better mental and physical capabilities than him. As those were the two major things that decided how long they lasted.

Falling unconscious before them didn't mean he was weaker than them overall and the same went for everyone, but still yet losing out didn't feel very nice.

With these last thoughts, he fell to the ground as an orb that was a little bit below those which were at the peak flew to his body.

‘Come to think of it, aren't I supposed to be unconscious since an orb flew into me?’ Art asked a little confused.

‘Yes, it's either you go unconscious if they enter you, or they enter you and render you unconscious. But the system hasn't permitted it. You know—we're busy.’

The way she sounded made it seem as though the true weapon was a little child asking for permission to do something.

[Auxiliary core formation: 85% complete]

[The auxiliary core would stop here due to some reasons]

[Host would now experience the full effect of the surrounding]

[System remark: ~Puff~]

Art’s eyes widened but before he could retort, he felt the pressure of the mana in this room. His colour which looked a little bit healthy turned to ash as he found breathing difficult.

It was as though he was being pressed at all angles and it wasn't up to 15 seconds later that he was beginning to feel light-headed. Even the gravity here was something else.

Now he understood why almost everyone here had collapsed when it's only been ten minutes since they entered. He wondered how these three were still awake, he didn't believe he would last for another minute longer.

‘You can do this! Fighting!’ She cheered him in his mind but it didn't seem sincere. It was more like she was enjoying a movie.

He couldn't believe it. Even his system laughed. What kind of system laughed at its host?

The others were surprised to see Art who seemed all and well just a few seconds ago, now in a similar state as them.

He was forced to also join the rest of them in sitting down.

Without a doubt, staying here for up to thirty minutes could kill them. Damn! Even twenty was enough.

He tried his best to stay conscious but then a realization hit him. What was he struggling for?

From his knowledge, one person can only get one true weapon and an orb had already gone into him which meant that he already acquired one and the mana core formation was now put on hold, so there was no longer a reason for trying to stay awake, was there?

~Yawn~

"So sleepy," the drowsy boy muttered with spinning eyes.

“I think it's time I take a nap,” he said with a relieved smile, lying down with a stretch before curling himself into a ball.

Art also collapsed and just before the last bit of his consciousness left, he saw two things.

One, a glowing orb flew into his chest and that of the boy. But he couldn't tell how high they came from, and two….
