The Subject's Lover

The year was now 2895. The world was so technologically advanced that, even as the sun was slowly preparing to go supernova, the people's lives were not impacted much. Where the proud oceans once lay, now sat man-made structures spanning several hundred miles. Multiple human-induced mass extinctions ravaged the remaining ecosystems, killing off many more animals and plants. The human race continued to thrive despite this. In the supercity Atlan, life went on as normal. David was a construction worker who got his hands on a contract some 3 years ago and is damn good at what he does. As the company he works for mainly utilizes outdated hardware, they usually only get work in low-end districts. They are often ridiculed by both customers and competition alike, but can only endure if they want to keep getting paid. Despite this, David seems suspiciously ok with this kind of environment. " That guy, something is up with him." A figure stood behind the shadow of a wall. ... Morning. " Mr. Stein?" A lady sat behind a shiny metal table. Her curled hair sat on one shoulder, over her black overcoat. Her black skirt clung tightly to her legs, as her unbuttoned overcoat was kept apart by her chest. Her white dress shirt stretched as she crossed her arms. " Yes, that's me. Can I ask what reason was I called in for today?" David asked. " Tell me all of your secrets." Miss supervisor said, her face resting on her hand as she sat back in her broad chair. The clear glass behind her showcasing numerous Bluish-black structures. "...Pardon?" David asked, befuddled. " Come, come, come! This lady will listen! Don't be shy!" Miss manager said. " Sorry, but I forgot I still had work today! The guys really can't do it without me this time!" David said as he turned to the door. " Hahaha, employee, corporate slave, you can run but don't think of hiding! This lady will find you wherever you go!" Miss manager said. " Please don't!" With these words, David escaped. ... A few days later. " Hey, why do you hate the supervisor so much? She's gorgeous!" A man shouted as he relaxed in a bobcat. Boom! " Haaa! I don't hate her, and if I did, why would her being pretty matter? More importantly, when is that crane going to get here? Do you guys think I'm some kinda machine? Why don't you come and try to lift these iron beams and see how it feels!" David said. " C'mon, don't be like that! You are the only one who can lift them, so why not just do it? I think the crane broke down on the road, so we need to wait a little longer." The man said. " Humph." David snorted. " By the way-Isn't that our supervisor's car that just pulled up?" The man pointed as he poked his head out of the front of the bobcat. " Fuck!!" David chucked the other beam from his shoulder before bolting. " Hahaha! This guy, running away like he saw the devil! Hmm, if I had a beauty chasing me, I would just let myself be caught! Strange guy!" The man laughed.
