Viridian Forest

"Here is your Pokedex and the Five Pokeballs that every trainer gets at registration." Professor Oak said as he handed the red tablet and five shrunk Pokeballs to Scarlet, who was now in her trainer clothes and ready to depart for her journey to Indigo League.

"Do know that you're also a month and a half late compared to the other trainers, okay?" Professor Oak said, making Scarlet pout at the reminder.

"I'll get all the Eight Badges on time, fine?!" Scarlet forcefully replied and then looked at her dad, "I am leaving."

"Here, I got these for you." Red smirked as he opened his palm and showed Scarlet two Balls inside.

"You really are spoiling your kid, Red." Professor reprimanded with a sigh, "Does she really need Ultra Balls at this stage? What is she gonna catch, a Caterpie inside it?"

"Well, I thought they'll be useful." Red sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, and then looked back at his daughter, "Take care, okay? Beware of the Poison-Type, they're the most annoying to deal with in the forest."

"Yeah, I know. Geez, you worry too much! You know that I aced my trainer's Exam, right?"

"Practical knowledge is also essential." Red responded with a sagely nod, "Then, I'll be leaving as well."

"Oi, take care of her." Charizard told to Alex as Red sat on his back.

"Well, I'll do everything I can." Alex answered with a shrug, "Don't blame me. The girl has the tendency to get in troubles."

Charizard didn't say anything to that, since he knew this fact as well. He just gave a last nod to him and Scarlet, before they took off in the sky.

"So, let's go, Lexy!" Scarlet joyously patted on his back.

"Don't call me that!" Alex annoying shouted.

"Well, take care!" Professor Oak shouted at the duo's departure, but was left unanswered since the two seemed to be more busy in arguing with themselves.

"Whatever.." Oak sighed and went back to his lab.

Hours into the journey, and Alex had discovered what type of Pokemon Master Scarlet was gonna be.

"Lexy, Flamethrower!"

"That's just a Caterpie, you dumb girl!" Alex retorted loudly and dropped his head with a low growl, "What am I going to do with this girl?"

Alex shook his head and moved along the way to Viridian City. Due to staying so long in the forest, he already knew all the way points and shortcuts.

"Lexy, you can't be like that!" Scarlet scolded as she ran after her Pokemon, "We have catch at least one Bug-Type!"

"We have a lot of time, don't hurry." Alex assured her with a nod and continued walking.

Scarlet pouted and just followed beside him quietly. She noticed that the Pokemons around were scared of Charmeleon but they were not running away at his sight, which was really unusual considering that he was a carnivorous.

"I am the ruler here, I don't just eat any Pokemon for my meals." Alex told her as he noticed Scarlet gazing around. There were a lot of Kakunas, Metapods and Centipedes in this area, which Alex was not interested at all in bothering with.

He pointed at the turn point in the forest, "That side you can get some Oddish and Glooms if you want. Normally Trainers don't go that way because there's a old Scyther guarding the territory."

Alex had fought the Scyther before, and it was really a stubborn one, but he also cared for the Pokemons in his area.

"Oh, can I get that Scyther then?" Scarlet cheered at the strong Pokemon's mention.

"Don't bother, he's old." Alex shook his head and continued into the Scyther's territory.

But surprisingly, he found that there were Pinsir's roaming around and feeding on the Bug types.

"What happened here?" Alex seriously asked as he grabbed a Oddish by her leaf head and brought her to his face level.

"T-The Old Man Scyther is ill and the Pinsir gang decided to invade our home!" The freaked out Oddish answered.

"A-Ah.. Alex, if you haven't noticed yet, we're getting surrounded by those Pinsirs.." Scarlet said worriedly tugging on his arm.

Alex dropped the Oddish down and moved ahead and roared loudly at the Pinsirs, "Leave this place, this territory doesn't belongs to you!"

"C-Charmander?" The Pinsirs flinched at the loud roar and looked in his direction.

"Oh, no! HE HAS EVOLVED, RUN!" One of the Pinsirs shouted as they all saw him and started running away, because they all knew they don't stand a chance against him.

But Alex released a "Heat Wave" towards the Pinsirs in their running direction and knocked them all down.

"We.. We won't come here again!" The Pinsirs pleaded as they saw Alex approaching.

"Oh, I can't have you guys breaking the rules, can I?" Alex grinned sadistically and released a "Flamethrower" and killed the seven Pinsirs all together.

"Food, and Boss!" A Fearow landed from the sky in front of Alex.

"Boss, can I have some of these?" Fearow hungrily eyed at the cooked Pinsirs as she bowed to Alex.

"Take four of those away." Alex answered with a low growl, "You should survey the forest and tell all the leaders that not to invaded each other's territory, or else I'll pay them a visit next."

"Yes, Boss!" Fearow cheered with a loud coo, and started dragging away her meal with the help of nearby Spearows.

"Oh, he really is the ruler of this forest." Scarlet said in a awe as she saw the events unfold. She noticed the Oddish near her feat and crouched down to her.

"Hey, little one." She greeted the Oddish with a friendly smile, "I see that my bad Lexy hurt you. Do you want me to treat you?"

"Oddish, Oddish.." The little Oddish nodded her head with tears rolling down her eyes, "Boss is really very scary when angry, but he also treats us good." The Oddish had conveyed.

Scarlet took out a Potion and started treating the Oddish, meanwhile Alex moved deeper into the area to see the Scyther.

"Oi, old man." Alex greeted as he looked at the old Scyther sickly laying on the some leaves on the ground.

"Alex-sama.." Scyther tried to get up, but his weak body didn't allow him to.

"What happened to you?" Alex asked as he also used 'Observe' on the Scyther, and found out what the condition was.

"I got poisoned in a fight against those Pinsirs." Scyther weakly answered, "One of them knew how to use Sludge Bomb and I was caught in the attack."

Alex growled in frustration and took out a antidote from his inventory, and started treating the Scyther. Sludge Bomb is a strong poisonous attack, so the normal remedies in the forest won't affect quickly as the medicine he had.

"Your lifespan is also very low." Alex told him with a sigh, and then took out a "Metal Coat" from his Inventory next, "This might help you stay a bit longer. I suggest that you start finding a successor to rule over this area."

Alex had found the "Metal Coat" in the forest during his exploration, otherwise most of the items and Evolutionary stones in his inventory come from the loot of Team Rocket members, that used to hunt him in the past but never went back alive.

"Alex-sama.." The Scyther cried tears of joy and nodded his head in agreement, "Thank you, Alex-sama, for this honour."

Normally, Scyther don't evolve as easily as other Pokemon, or sometimes, they don't evolve at all. One of the ways to speed up this process was to eat a Metal-Type Pokemon, otherwise a "Metal Coat" was the best option.

"Eat." Alex told.

"Ah.. I don't think that's how it works, Alex-sama." The Scyther told him with a wry smile, "I'll have to coat my Claws with that Metal Coating to evolve myself."

"I'll wait outside then." Alex nodded and left the Scyther alone.

When Alex came out, he saw that Scarlet was playing with a Oddish, while there were also many other Bug-Types around.

"Look, Lexy! I got myself this Oddish and I didn't even need to battle her!" Scarlet happily stated as she picked up the Oddish in her arms and went to him.

"H-Hello, boss." The Oddish warily replied as she looked at the intimidating gaze of Alex.

"Well, it was your choice." Alex sighed in distress and shook his head, "Welcome to the team. Do know that I'll work your ass off to get you stronger."

Oddish beamed in happiness as she heard that Alex considered her a team member, "I'll do my best!" The Oddish nodded cheerfully.

"How is old man doing, Alex-sama?" A Gloom asked as he came over with other Caterpies and Oddishes of this area.

But before Alex could answer, they all heard a energetic loud voice come from the Scyther's residence. Much to all of their surprise, especially Scarlet, a strong Scizor came out of the trees instead of a old looking Scyther.

The Scizor immediately flew over and knelt in front of Alex, "I'll never forget this, Alex-sama! You have saved my life along with my area, I am forever in your debt!"

"L-Lexy, can we have him?" Scarlet asked with stars in her eyes. This Scizor was definitely a very strong one.

"No." Alex flatly rejected her with a straight face, "You got a Bug-Type and that one is enough."

Scarlet pouted at the response and hugged the Oddish in her arms, "Boo! Fine, I'll train this Oddish to be more stronger in future."

"Who is this human, Alex-sama?" Scizor warily asked as she was a trainer.

"Ah, don't worry, she's my pet." Alex casually waved his hand with a small laugh, "I'll also be permanently borrowing that Oddish for her, it's fine, right?"

"It'll be a honour that one of us will be able to accompany you, Alex-sama." Scizor responded by bowing his head.

"Then, take care. I have to go now." Alex waved at the Scizor as him and Scarlet began to leave this forest area.

Scarlet got the Oddish back in her Pokeball and came to his side, "What do I want next, a Water-Type maybe? The Pewter City Gym is a Rock type, after all."

"It's hard to get a Water-Type here." Alex answered with a shake of his head, "The most you'll find is a Magikarp or rarely a Staryu hiding in the ponds, both useless."

"So, I suggest that you get a Fighting-Type." Alex suggested with a smirk, "I just know where to get a proper fighter for the team. So for now, we'll focus on training that Oddish."

"Hm, Fighting-Type do good against Rock-Type." Scarlet agreed with the suggestion, "Otherwise, there's a possibility that Oddish can evolve and learn more Grass type moves."

"We'll camp here." Charmeleon stopped as they reached a open field.

"Oh, this is your home, right?" Scarlet remembered that this was the place where she had met him for the first time, "I'll get a sleeping bag prepared for me and food for us."

Scarlet brought out Oddish from her Pokeball, "Oddish, we'll train here after I am done, okay?"

"Oddish!" The little Pokemon nodded and ran away to Alex side.

Alex saw the opportunity and decided to use 'Observe' on his new teammate.

Oddish was sheepish when she saw Alex was intimately staring at her, "W-What should I do Boss?"

"Training." Alex replied with straight face and activated his "Iron Tail."

Oddish was startled as she thought Alex was going to attack her, "B-Boss?" but she saw him just standing there with his eyes closed.

"I am also training."

She sighed in relief at the information, and was also surprised to see that their ruler still trains despite being so strong.

'I'll do my best!' Oddish thought in inspiration from Alex, 'But what am I supposed to do?'

"Keep using absorb on me until you get tired." Alex answered as if he was reading her mind.

"A-Are you sure?" Oddish asked in fear, "I don't want to harm you, Boss."

"You think you can harm me?" Alex raised a challenging eyebrow and looked at the little Pokemon by opening his left eye, who was now shivering under his gaze.

Under the pressure, Oddish immediately started spamming "Absorb" on Alex, which was possible because he was not moving around to dodge her.

Alex saw his HP bit by bit chipping away, but it was only in small numbers like 1 or 2 because of his resistance, and it didn't bother him at all due to his healing factor.

"Hm." Alex nodded in acknowledgement to Oddish's efforts and closed his eyes to focus back on his own training.

Alex was focusing on maintaining his "Iron Tail" for a longer duration without the Blaze, because setting his Tail on fire was a very simple task as a Fire-Type. This way, he would have more versatility in his attacks midst battle and would be able to switch to "Blazing Iron Tail" more quickly and surprise his opponent.

"This Battle Junkie.." Scarlet sighed with a shake of her head when she saw both of her Pokemons doing training without her.

Although, what Oddish was doing would seem foolish to other trainers, Scarlet knew that Oddish was raising her ability's power to a next level. Being able to Absorb and increase its limit and would help her lot in future when it'll come to attacks like "Mega Drain" and "Giga Drain".

Scarlet went to Oddish's side with some energy Potions to increase her efficiency in training. She also explained Oddish what her abilities do when used right, and in when and what situations to use them.

[Move "Iron Tail" has been upgraded to Novice rank. Proficiency of the ability increased. One Energy potion and Super Potion gained for the achievement.]

But Alex wasn't going to stop there, he'll Master this Ability first and then move onto the next. He knew that he would Master his "Iron Tail" in two days at this pace, but that also meant that he would have to use it as an attack. Trees and Boulders served as good training dummies for such impactful attacks. Hence, also the reason for having a open field in front of his Den.
