10 Change of Plan

"Please! Aiden I know you have always wanted to do it. And also you are far more good orator than any other person I know. You could perfectly nail this if you could be more confident. Just Be yourself and share your thoughts of this beautiful day." Orlee beseeched her classmate Aiden into giving the valedictorian speech when he came to check on how Selena's doing.

" No way. Are you kidding me? How can anyone deliver their valedictorian speech in just 15 minutes? Actually no, it's 10 minutes. You expect someone like me who wavers his confidence within a snap of milli seconds? I think you got the wrong person. I hope you take good care of yourself, Selena. Bye guys" Aiden spoke what he needed to.

Although he looked calm and uninterested, inside he was actually feeling overjoyed at the thought of him giving a valedictorian speech and also sad that he couldn't because of getting booed, discouraged and losing his already little confidence. He was almost at the door when all of a sudden he felt a hand on his wrist and suddenly got pulled down.

Orlee was almost going crazy on how to get Aiden into giving valedictorian speech. But when she heard the last sentence of what Aiden uttered, she remembered his little crush on Selena. So Orlee immediately set right into the action without wasting any more time.

She walked upto him and held his wrist to pull him down till his ears got closer to her lips. "I'll arrange you a date with Selena, your little crush, if you accept to do this." She whispered.

Aiden never told Orlee that he has a crush on Selena. So he was totally shocked on she got to know about his crush. Although he was shocked, he was feeling happy at the thought of having a date with his crush. He stared at Orlee in wide-eyed amazement. Aiden ears got red in embarrassment after seeing the close proximity between himself and Orlee.

Orlee chuckled when she saw his ears had gone red thinking how he was already whipped about Selena.

"Also a fun fact about her: she has a fetish for confident guys."

May be because of the embarrassment as his crush towards Selena got exposed or he may have been imagining his date with her already, had his ears and cheeks tinted with red even more.

"I hope you have utilized this 15 minutes to maximum? You ready for it Ms.Hill?" Mrs.Gilborn spoke who had just entered the room to remind Orlee that it's time, when she was talking to Aiden.

"No Mrs.Gilborn" Orlee replied.

"Okay. Good. I know you'll neve.... What? What did you say?" Mrs.Gilborn asked stupefied when she processed Orlee's words.

"Aiden wants to give the speech since he always has fantasized about giving one so he already have a speech ready with him. Correct. Aiden?" Orlee said the first lie that came to her mind and asked Aiden.

Aiden, who was dreaming about his future date with his crush, came back to his senses when his name was mentioned. Although his guts were telling him not to respond but when had he ever listened to it.

"Yes?" He asked unsure of why Orlee called him. Orlee smiled at him.

"See Mrs.Gilborn, he is so excited and overwhelmed that he actually couldn't speak more than a word. But I'm sure he'll do a good job in speech and also you should know him too well since he also attends your literature class" Orlee spouted all the nonsense that made sense right now in that moment to make Mrs.Gilborn accept him instead of her.

Orlee gave a bright smile, which could blind anyone, showing her pearly white and straight teeth to Mrs.Gilborn, who doesn't know what he is responding to, assumed otherwise and nodded saying a command to Aiden to follow her and went out.

"When did I agree?" Aiden whisper yelled at Orlee, who was dragging him out the door to follow Mrs.Gilborn.

"You just did. Go, follow Mrs.Gilborn, I'll be with you in a second" Orlee told him hurriedly before he could change his mind and protest.

Orlee turned back sheepishly smiling and ran inside the backstage room where Selena was there leaving Aiden to give in.

Aiden followed Mrs.Gilborn till they are just beside the stage. She turned to him and said "Since it's your first, I can sense your nervousness. Be confident and perform well. Even if you don't that's okay, you can always learn from this experience and perform well the next time. Okay?" Mrs. Gilborn encouraged him and told him some other point of views that students don't see and lose confidence in themselves.

She doesn't want with her students to happen that even though she is not in a goog mood, as the responsibility of being a teacher, she told Aiden who smiled at her kind words and nodded earnestly.

"Wait for a while. I'll call you in 5. Okay?" Mrs.Gilborn asked Aiden.

Aiden nodded. He suddenly thought of his best friend who could give him some tips.

"Can I make a call? It'll be fast, I swear" Aiden asked.

Mrs.Gilborn almost rolled her eyes but didn't. She nooded and gave him a serious look as if to make it really fast.

Aiden moved to a corner and dialed his best friend number. After a few rings he picked up the call.

"Hello." The other end came a deep, husky and a dead voice.
