5 Past

Sylvia hurriedly went to look at the figure her magic shot to only to see something outside her expecetations. She saw Mr. Edgy laying down with an ice shard in his hand. On second thought, since he is one of the vice-heads of the school, he should have been able to do something as simple as catching an ordinary ice shard cast by a student.

"CCCCCCOOOOOOLLLLLLLLDDDD!!!!!"

She was about to apologize to him but a sudden shriek came out of his mouth. Now that she thought about it, when she was imagining the ice shard, she imagined that it was at absolute zero.

"How was a 16-year old girl that just only recently activated her magic be able to make something that cold?!" Mr. Edgy had continued to scream such and Sylvia wasn't sure if he was actually asking her or just screaming.

"Umm... By ther power of imagination?" Mr. Edgy looked at her and then chuckled a bit. "I didn't you know you had a sense of humor, expecially with that bored amd sleepy expression on your face all the time."

Sylvia didn't know what to say at his remark. "Anyway, go practice somewhere safer and bring that imagination of yours down a bit." After saying that he left, leaving behind the ice shard that was melting due to loss of a magic power source.

Sylvia went back to the bench and sat down for a bit.

[Boss, I have a question.]

'What is it?'

[Why are you so... calm?]

'Eh?'

[As in, why do you feel so detached from everything? The only time I ever saw you with a different expression was whne you were with Leo.]

Sylvia sank into her own thoughts. To be honest, the second she appeared in that white room with a cube in front of here she could already tell what was going to happen. In situations she would predict what would come next so she could do things according to the situation.

It was something you could call a survival instinct for her. She wouldn't say anything when she was yelled at for something even if it wasn't her fault. She didn't want to be ostracized by other people. She wanted to fit in. She wanted to be treated as someone normal. She could never feel that because their eyes would always be filled fear, disgust, pity and others.

Sylv-- No, Li Yue was always blamed for her parents' death. Because wherever she went bad things happened. When she was born, a thunderstorm came out of nowhere. When she was 3 and was playing with a ball, it somehow hit the light and broke it. When she was 4, she went to the beach with her parents and a sudden typhoon came flying through in. When she was 7, her parents died in a car crash while she somehow survived with only minor injuries.

Her relatives were forced to take her in but they hated her because they thought she was the reason why her parents died. As she grew older, she could never understand on how did a fully rational adult somehow come to the conclusion that a 7-year old child was the reason for a person's death.

Her bad luck stuck with her till the day she died. At school, windows would shatter, desks would break, the team she was on would always lose, things would become lost, because of that she was given the nickname "Bad Luck Gem", the only reason there was a gem was because she was somewhat pretty and always at the top of her class.

She thought that if she studied hard, people wouldn't look at her that way. People would be friends with her. People would smile at her. People wouldn't despise her presence. People wouldn't... wish she was never born in the first place.

She thought that maybe it was better to end her hated existence but... That was just escaping reality right? People would only think that she brought her family even more trouble after her death. She also thought there was no point in crying since she knew there were people who had it worse than her in that world.

She thought that people had finally accepted her when she was complimented on her drawings and when she met Leo, but she guessed the world didn't. After all, she still died in the end.

So, when she learned of having to tell numerous stories in different worlds, she didn't think that this was her chance to actually be accepted by someone. She decided to distance herself more from any people around her. It would only be painful for her when she would have to go away. And she didn't like pain. She also didn't like anything that caused pain.

[Boss, you're crying...]

At T's mechanical voice, she put her hand to her cheek only to see wet tears rolling down them. She hurriedly wiped them away. Sylvia stood up and decided to look for the FL to bully, that way she could hurry up and earn the ire of the second prince and be finished with this world. That way she won't build any more memories and bonds with him.

As she walked away, a blonde-haired man was hiding behind a nearby tree. There was a red flame dancing in his hand. The flame danced brilliantly but was put out when the man closed his palm. You couldn't read his expression covered by the shade of the tree.
