38 Western District

The sky has already turned dark when Yu Feng finally composed herself.

At this time, her face was and her eyes were red and swollen after crying for too long. It felt as if she has not cried her heart out for a very long time. The last time she had cried like this was when her father had suddenly passed away.

How many years was that?

Yu Feng had thought that now she had grown up, she would never cry again. She did not expect that meeting her mother in the midst of the crowd would make her so weak and vulnerable.

Yu Feng had a hunch that if she had approached her mother right then, her mother would only pretend that she did not recognize her. Perhaps, her mother would accuse her of a madman just so she could enjoy her good life as the Xu's madam!

Yu Feng was unaware of how long she has been sitting in the corner to cry. But when she finally came to her sense again, Yu Feng began to realize that something was amiss.

Though she could hear the sound of cheering and screaming from farther away, Yu Feng found that her surrounding was too quiet.

It was at this time that she realized that she had gotten too far from the City Center.

Previously, that bad man had reminded her that she needed to stay around the City Center. She was taught to recognized a special mask and told that those people in the mask would approach her and ask her to deliver messages for them.

She might have to find her way to enter the tower or be assigned to another place to send some messages. The man in the mask would tell her her target and destination. All she needed to do was to ensure that those messages would reach the person and she will be able to be reunited with Orange again. This was what they have agreed on.

"Orange!"

When Yu Feng recalled her orange cat again, she was startled.

Now that she was away from the city center, would she be able to be reunited with orange again?

Yu Feng started to panic. She wiped her face with her sleeves and scrambled to get up and return to the city square.

She couldn't let that man find a reason to take away Orange from her forever!

The moment she stood up, Yu Feng began to look around her surroundings. The lanterns were lit up around her, but there was no one around the area.

Although this was a very strange thing, Yu Feng had no time to think about why was the area deserted. The most important thing was to return to the city center before that bad man could find faults with her.

Yu Feng found out that she was now in the western district of the city.

The western district was made of residential areas. Now that the people were gathering at the city center to join in the festivity, it was not strange to find that this area was deserted.

Wherever she walked, the resident's main gate was closed tightly. The area was silent as the grave, but fortunately, the lantern was lit up, and Yu Feng could use them as a guide for her to return to the city square.

After running around in a few minutes, the joyful sounds from the festival was getting louder, and the lights were brighter. Soon, Yu Feng saw a group of people ahead.

Once she got through those groups of people, she would have to enter the main street and head straight to reach the city square.

However, as she reached closer, Yu Feng found out that the groups of people were gathered for a reason. There was a big fight.

Initially, the two drunkards were quarreling as one of them accidentally bumped into each other. However, this fight got bigger.

Those who were trying to stop the fight soon found themselves involved in the fight as well. A few excited bystanders found the scene interesting and continued to stay around to watch.

With this situation, Yu Feng had no way to go through them. If she forced herself to get through the area, she might get herself involved and that will make her lose her time to return to the city center.

Yu Feng stared at the scene in front of her speechlessly.

Where were the authorities? Shouldn't there be patrolling guards to dismiss this fight?

Taking a deep breath, Yu Feng tried to calm down and figure out another route to get to the city center. Her mind whirled as she tried to think of the quickest route. Meanwhile, she still needed to consider to avoid streets that were close due to the festival and streets that were too packed with people for her to pass by.

Her expression brightened when Yu Feng finally figured out the most suitable route. At this time, if she entered the drainage system, she might be able to return to the city square immediately.

However, there was only one problem. Yu Feng was not very familiar with the drainage system in the western district. Although she could always use her logic and pick out the route that will lead her to her destination, Yu Feng was worried that the twists and turns in the underground will lead her somewhere else.

Yu Feng hesitated as she tried to make up her mind. At this time, the maps that the bad man had spread on his desk came to her mind. Yu Feng tried to recall what she had seen on the map and turned around to find her way to enter the drainage system.

She had been to this area before and knew where was the entrance to the drainage. However, just as she was about to reach her destination, Yu Feng heard a muffled scream. She stopped immediately and hid behind a wall.

There were a group of men in front of her and they were surrounding a man. The man in the middle spoke something that Yu Feng could not hear. Soon, one of them lifted his sword and slashed it across the poor man's throat.
