Chapter 11

"Something feels wrong here, this makes no sense they know we escaped why are they not after us. This is way too easy, I have tried escaping before and they were on me before too long."

"Your right it is odd, but let's not push our luck too far. Let's just get my stuff and get out of here." I start edging towards the side of the room, to check for any traps.

"Why is your stuff so important, I mean can't you just get more things." She asks as she follows me.

"A few of my things are irreplaceable, things given to me by the gods when I was still in their favor." I look back to see her eyes widen in surprise as I mention the gods that way. I smile at her expression, "The only reason I speak so casually about the gods is because they will not give me a rest at all. It's been nonstop pain and suffering for the last five years, mostly from that accursed god of war Guerrant. He has the ears of many of the gods and he has them punish me at every turn. Like with the goddess of the heart she puts someone in my life that I could love and be happy with, that could help me get over all this and then he sends something my way to try to kill that person and me. Though they never kill me in the end just that person, one day though Guerrant will get what's coming to him. I don't want revenge or anything it's just that I believe that what is dealt by someone returns to them tenfold in the end."

"Oh Zeke, I am sorry for all that you are going through that would be almost as hard as what I have endured here." She says as she reaches out to me as I turn to look to at her. She grabbed at my shoulder, which threw her off balance. As she fell I grabbed her and stopped her fall, we were nose to nose. Her eyes seemed to glow in the low light of the corridor, her eyes were so pretty that I could not help but to stare into them. We were so close that our lips were almost touching, her face grew red and she seemed to have trouble breathing normally.

I held her so close that she felt so familiar as if they had been this intimate before...yet I had never once held a woman so close. I shook myself mentally. That was a lie, I had held Selena like this on more than one occasion but only ever her. So why was it that this woman felt so familiar yet I knew nothing of her? Without thought, I leaned forward, to brush my lips lightly ever so slightly across hers. She let out a shuttered breath. She suddenly had an arm around my neck and covered my lips with hers. I closed my eyes, to savor the taste of her lips that like her voice was so familiar. Pain lanced through my shoulder from the strain of holding her up, I gasp which breaks the kiss and the moment. I see a look of shock and embarrassment cross her face as she got her feet under her and righted herself.

"I am sorry about that, I.. didn't. I don't know what came over me. I didn't mean to hurt you."

I smile at her and say "Its ok I am not hurting that much, and don't be sorry about the kiss. I actually enjoyed it." I see a look of hurt cross her face at my comment.

"What do you mean actually enjoyed it?" She took a step back and wrapped her arms around herself.

"I didn't mean it like that, I haven't kissed anyone in a very long time not since her." I stretched out my hand toward her, but stopped short as she took a small step away from me. "I am sorry, I didn't mean for what I said to hurt you."

As she looked at me a look of uncertainty crossed her lovely face. She had opened herself to me which she probably has not done in quite some time, and in my surprise I had hurt her. "I know you didn't mean to, its ok but we need to go." As soon as she said that I heard a noise coming down the hall from where we had come from.

"Your right they are coming. How close is that armory?" I grab her hand and pull her down the hall. "Can we finish this later please?"

"Fine whatever, first let go of my hand I can walk on my own perfectly fine." She pulled her hand sharply out of mine and quickened her pace calling over her shoulder to me "The armory should be right up ahead. The guard is usually made up of two goblins or two ogres, should be easy to dispatch them."

"That's good, this should be quite easy." I get my first look at the armory we were looking for. The hallway opened up around the next corner, to a large room that was open to the skies. The room had a sand floor and from the look of the sand it had seen recent combat because it was stained a dark red color. There was a covered area that was separated from the sand by a waist high wall, its walls were lined with swords and spears and shields. There were door placed at regular intervals along each walls. There was a large wooden table with six chairs placed around it. Three humans and one goblin occupied four out of the six chairs, as we watch them talk and laugh we hear a door to our right open.
