43 Ghi's Amazement

The morning breeze from the sea hit Ichina as gently as a mother caring for her crying infant. She woke up and stared at Khi's ceiling as she laid on his bed. She squirmed in the bed for a bit, before releasing out a homesick sigh. She got up and stretched, smelling under her arm, "Augh, where can I find a bath?"

Across the bed was a singular chair, in the mostly empty room of Khi. On the chair was Ichina's clothing from the last couple days. It had a terrible odor with dirt all over it, she hesitated putting it on, 'Should I just put it on, maybe Mrs. Kasai has some extra clothing for me.' Ichina thought as she walked out of Khi's room in her underwear.

The sun barely even blessed the sky with it's presence, yet Ghi was at the kitchen table eating 3 pieces of bread. He rose his head as he heard her walk in the kitchen. With bread crumbs on his lips he waved, "Good morning."

Ichina waved back, "Good morning, is grandma up?"

"No, she is still asleep. The twins are too. I woke up before everyone," he said as he finished a single piece of bread. He began putting away the other two within his shorts pocket.

"Is that all you're eating," Ichina asked, finally sitting down at the table across from Ghi. Ghi nodded, and jumped out of his seat, "Bye, Ichina. Tell grandma that I'll be back later."

"Oh, uh , ok bye," Ichina watched as Ghi walked out of the house and into the early morning town.

The town was quiet, but Ghi was used to it. In the quiet he could think, 'I need to train, I need to get stronger to defeat Damien,' he thought. Ghi ran through the village with a determined look, before he would take a pause to say hello to any elderly waking up, or any warrior who was getting their early morning workout. As the grandson of the chief, he had to keep up with expectations of older people.

"Morning Ghi," a villager man, a bit on the fat side, stops Ghi in his tracks, jogging in place. Ghi turned to him, with cold smile he says, "Morning!"

"What are you doing up so early," the man said stretching his body out, showing his stomach.

"I have to get stronger," Ghi said picking up his jogging pace, inching away from the man who stopped him.

"Oh! We don't have many warriors left. It's good that you're training so early. I remember back when I was a child..."

Ghi rolled his eyes as the man closed his to reminiscent on his golden days. The man's voice was drowned out by thoughts of him defeating Damien. He imagined himself using Khi's thruster like flames to propel himself toward Damien. Then using Azuka's god like flame abilities, forming flames out of nothing to burn Damien down. Then Azuka and Khi would tap Ghi on the shoulder giving him the thumbs up, saying "Good Job."

"That's why I became a farmer. I can' really deal with the stress. I almost peed myself when your brother came kicking through my house. My daughter thought that her mom was crying. I had to let her believe that, you understand?"

Ghi snapped back to reality, his glory was gone, and he looked at the villager with disgust. "That's a good story. Bye." Ghi ran off, his legs were tired, but he couldn't stop. He knew that his brother would never stop, he was going to the east from the beach. Deep within the forest was a glade, it was different from the area Azuka and Khi trained. This place was Ghi's and Khi's special spot. Where only they trained together. They would train for hours there, or even days. This was their special spot, 'So why,' Ghi thought. 'Why is he here.'

Ghi hid himself in a bush, which allowed him to see the small clearing clearly. He watched Azuka sleeping in the middle of the clearing. There were burn marks everywhere, more than when he would usually see Khi trained with him. After a while of being in the bush, Ghi decided to go to Azuka. He approached him like a cat, whose center of focus is it's curiosity with a butterfly. However, once he got close to him, about an average human arm's length, he feels a kind of heat that transcended his own capability of handling.

Ghi backed away with awe, "That's so hot! What's he doing just sleeping here." The shout of amazement woke Azuka up, he opened his eyes at first, looked around him. He slowly stood up and stretched out his body. He yawned, and then stared at Ghi.

"What are you doing here Ghi. Is this your training spot too?" Azuka said, sitting back down on the ground and lowering his temperature output.

"I should be asking you what you're doing here Azuka," Ghi came closer to Azuka, now that Azuka is cooled down it was easier to be near him. "Wait are you training?"

"Yeah, I've been training everyday I've been on this island." Azuka smiled, "Though all I'm doing is increasing how much heat I can take and focusing my mana with more control. I don't know how to do that thing you did with that campfire. I've been trying, but I still don't get it." Azuka paused, Ghi waited anxiously for his next sentence.

Realizing a new one wasn't coming he jumped at the opportunity, "You want to learn how to grasp flames?"

"Is that what it's called? Tell me all about it."

"It's a village secret! Only villagers learn it."

Azuka puts his hand on Ghi's shoulder, warming it up a bit. "Ghi," he started with a stern face, "I want you to show me how to grasp flames, if you can't teach me then I can just get Khi to do it."

Ghi's awe turned into excitement, 'I get to teach him something! Maybe he can teach me how to make flames come out of nowhere.' Ghi thinks as he leaves to gather firewood.

"Where the hell are you going," Azuka yells, "I'm getting some firewood," Ghi yells back; turning around to face Azuka. "After I teach you how to grasp flames can you teach me the language of fire. I want to make fire come out of nowhere, but I don't learn it until the next year of school."

"Sure, I'll teach you that language thing," Azuka awkwardly smiled. Ghi turned back, running to get firewood. Azuka laid back thinking, 'Shit. I'm evil.'
