44 - Chp 043: Mending The Wound

Crimson's POV

I stood up and headed towards the edge of the rooftop. I grabbed the safety bars and took a deep breath. I slowly opened my mouth and let out a loud shout.

"What the hell are you doing?" Black asked.

"Fine!" I replied. "I'll fucking talk to him!" I exclaimed as I turned to face him again.

He stared at me with a shocked expression on his face. "You will??"

"Yeah, yeah."

His eyes lit up with sparks of joy. "Awesome! I'd love to meet him!" He exclaimed, but stopped. It was like he realized something. "Oh, but..."

"Is it about your condition?" I asked.

"Yeah..." He replied. "I'm not even sure if he has colors..."

I feel sorry for him, but what can I do to make him feel better about this? There must be something...

"Leave it to me. I'll introduce the both of you to each other during lunch time. Tell me then if he has colors or not. If not, then I'll make sure never to have him come near you." I suggested.

"That's... A bit excessive..." He replied. "But I appreciate what you wanna do. Thanks."

"No problem, man." I answered as the bell rang. "There's the bell. We should get going." I said as I put my hand out to help him up.

He grabbed it and stood up. Then we both headed back to our classrooms.

I'll be honest. When Black first told me about his condition, I didn't believe it. I mean, it sounded crazy. Aboslutely nuts... But... I owed him a lot, so listening to him was the least I could do. I still have doubts about it until now, but I don't think he'd lie about something like that, right?

I opened the door to the class and went inside. My classmates were looking at me, and not in a good way. Coming in here never gets easier. It's uncomfortable when people look at me like this. It's like they're waiting for a rabid predator to pounce on them so they can run. They're scared of me.

I sat on my seat at the front of the class. I was assigned here by the teachers since they said they needed to keep an eye on me. It happened on the very first day too. It annoyed me so much that when some older students picked a fight on me, I beat them up. It was their fault, but I was the only one punished. Since then, other students would pick a fight on me too, and I'd always beat them up. This was the reason nobody wanted to approach me. Nobody wanted to be my friend. Well, nobody except Black.

I looked around, and Ivory doesn't seem to be in here. I guess he's finally gonna leave me alone. That's what we agreed on the last time we talked, but it feels lonely... I feel lonely... Maybe I should've just forgave him right off the bat. I was just so mad at him for not believing me... I can't really say I blame him. I didn't believe Teal when he told me about Rogue too. Maybe it was a mistake to have avoided him. I feel like such a crappy person. He even still sees me as a friend, and yet all I did was avoid him...

The door to the classroom crept open. Ivory suddenly entered. I was staring at him, and he looked at me. He immediately turned away and hurried to his seat. I stood up and walked towards him.

"Hey." I called him. He looked at me as I sat on the seat in front of him. I could hear the whispers of classmates.

"What's happening?" One of them asked.

"Is Crimson picking a fight again?" Another one asked. God, they're annoying.

"Can we talk outside?" I asked him.

He stared at me and nodded. We stood up and headed to the back of the school.

"What was it you wanted to talk about?" He asked. "I promised to leave you alone, and that's what I'm gonna do. I won't bother you anymore. Don't worry about it."

"No..." I replied. "I have something to tell you."

"Then what is it? Class is about to start."

"I... I wanna fix things with you. I miss having my best friend by my side. I'm tired of being lonely... I missed you so much..."

He stared at me with a surprised expression on his face, but then it turned into a soft smile. He walked closer and placed his finger on my forehead.

"What?" I asked.

"You have no idea how much I missed you too." He replied as he pulled me into a tight hug. "Why the change?" He asked as he let me go.

"A friend smacked some sense into me." I replied.

"Figuratively or literally?"

"You were always the sarcastic one."

He laughed lightly and punched my arm. "I just really missed you. You know, it was lonely without having my best friend with me."

I leaned on a wall and sat down. "That's true. We have a lot of things to catch up on."

He sat down beside me. "Where do we even start?"

"Well, we can start with how you found me. I'm pretty sure I didn't tell anyone about my plan to study here."

"It was honestly a coincidence. A friend of mine wanted to enroll here and invited me. I didn't have a plan anyway, so what's the harm, right? Then I heard rumors about a guy that totally matched your description. Strangely enough, I was put in the same class as you."

"So it was really... Just a coincidence?"

"Yeah." He said. "Oh! Did you know? Kuro and Carnation are together!"

"What?? They are?" I asked.

"Yeah. It started when..."

We didn't go to class after that. We spent the whole first period just talking and catching up. I didn't know how much I actually missed Ivory. I mean, I did miss him, but I didn't know I missed him this much.

My heart felt lighter... It's like a big weight was suddenly lifted off my chest. I could feel relaxed again. It's all thanks to Black. If I'd never met him, then I don't think I'd be here making up with my best friend. I owe him a lot. I need some kind of way to make up for it, but what can I do for somebody who seems like he doesn't want anything.
