43 - Chp 042: Isolated Sadness

Chartreuse's POV

A knock on my door woke me up. "Chartreuse? Are you going to school?" A voice from the other side of the door asked. It was my mom. "I know it's almost that time... You don't have to force yourself to go if you don't want to."

I got up and walked towards the door. I grabbed the doorknob, but I couldn't open it. It's like my mind was stopping me. It didn't want me to open the door.

"Mom..." I replied. "I'm not going to school."

"It's okay. I understand. Just rest up and get ready for tomorrow."

"Thanks, mom."

"Before I forget, Cerulean is here to see you."

Cerulean? He's here?

"What does he want?" I asked.

"He brought some pastries." I replied. "I left your breakfast downstairs with him. I'm going to work. Bye, Chartreuse."

"Bye, mom. Thank you."

I heard footsteps going down the stairs. I guess my mom was in a hurry. I feel awful. My head hurts like hell. Wait, am I forgetting something? Didn't mom say something about someone here to see me? It's probably nothing.

I went back to my bed and lied down. It was quiet as hell, but it was peaceful. I took my phone out and saw a text from Lilac.

"Hey, I know that you're probably not coming to school today, so I'm coming by later to give you your homework. Cerulean also said he was gonna visit you. He baked some pastries and wanted to give some to you. Leave me some for later. Hope you feel better soon."

Shit. That's what I forgot. Cerulean is waiting for me downstairs. I guess I'll just reply to this and go down.

"You don't need to come by later. I don't really care about the homework. And about the pastries... I'm not gonna leave you any hahaha. I love his pastries too much. Thanks for caring this much about me. I'll talk to you later."

I got up again and walked downstairs. "Cerulean!" I called him.

I could hear footsteps walking to the foot of the stairs. As soon as I saw his shadow, I immediately ran towards him and gave him a big hug.

"Chartreuse..." He said as I let go.

"What is it?" I asked.

He tilted his head down on my shoulder. "Don't be sad."

I-I'm not sad... Of course I'm not...

I placed my hand on the back of his head to comfort him. "You silly. If I'm sad, shouldn't you be the one comforting me?" I asked as I gave a slight chuckle. I tried to lift his head up, but he just wouldn't budge. He continued to lean on me, and then suddenly sniffed me. "What are you doing??"

He finally lifted his head up and looked at me. "You smell bad." He said.

"Sit down, you fucking dog." I replied as I hit him.

"You're pretty when you smile."

I punched him one more time on the arm. "Shut up, man. Anyway, where are the pastries? I'm starving."

"Mom made breakfast."

"She's my mom, not yours."

"Mom said to call her mom."

"What the hell... I don't care anymore. Will you give me the pastries when I eat my breakfast?"

He nodded and we both ate. My mom made two meals. I guess she was still cooking when Cerulean arrived.

Cerulean has been a good friend of Lilac and I since last year. Ever since word got out at school about the unfortunate events that happened to me, I was bullied a lot, especially since I made a lot of enemies. I wouldn't say I have the nicest personality. I'm a bit agressive and I just splurt out what I want to say. I don't have a filter to say nice things, so nobody really wanted to hang out with me. Cerulean and Lilac were the only ones that defended me during that time. Cerulean was just a random guy in my class. I treated him like how I treated other guys, but we honestly didn't talk much. He was quiet, but a lot of people approached him. He had a lot of friends, so it was a shock when he defended me. He became an outcast right after. I owed him since he defended me, so I invited him to hang out with us.

After eating, he brought out a basket that he hid in one of the kitchen cabinets. He opened it and gave me a fruit tart.

"Food." He said as he handed it to me.

"Thanks." I replied as I took a bite of it. "Anyway, are you on your way to school?" He nodded as he shoved a whole tart in his mouth. "Dude! Small bites!" I exclaimed as i got him some water.

He drank it and coughed a little. "Thanks." He said.

"It's no problem. Just... Remember to take small bites..." I replied. He nodded as he took another tart and shoved it into his mouth again. "DUDE!"

We continued to eat the pastries until it was finally time for Cerulean's class. We just talked and laughed... Well, I did most of the laughing, but he talked a bit too.

"You sure you have all your stuff with you?" I asked.

He nodded and picked his bag up. "Smile." He said as he opened the door. He turned his head a bit to face me. "You're pretty when you smile."

"Whatever, man." I replied as I ruffled his hair. "You already said that earlier. Just go. I don't want you to be late."

He waved goodbye and left. I went back to the kitchen and cleaned up. I put the pastries in the cabinet, did the dishes, and then cleaned the table.

I swear, that guy really has something wrong with him. It's honestly normal for him to say those kinds of stuff. I was bothered at first, but I got used to it.

He's never really been a talkative guy. It's been that way since we met. He would listen to Lilac and I talk about ourselves, but he would never talk about himself. I don't think he's ashamed of who he is, but there's probably something he doesn't want people to know. I don't really mind if he doesn't tell us. We can still be friends without knowing everything about each other.

I don't actually know why I'm fine with Cerulean. He's a guy, but I don't feel any negative emotions when he's near me. I don't feel disgusted at all. Maybe it's because he helped me, but even I'm starting to second guess myself. I was mean to him before, but I don't remember hating him back then. It's weird...
