7 Chapter Seven: Prying Eyes

The King, the Duke, and the Shadow was swiftly making their way towards the War room, with Alistair trialing closely behind. Because of the demons better experience and physic, Alistair had to spreed his mana to strength his legs. Which was quite impressive for a 7 year old.

The shadow was popping in and out of existence materializing in different places each time, a bit of darkness hanging in the air as he did so.

The three men interred the room. Inside the room where three other demons, whom where waiting at rectangular table looking at a map at the center.

"What is the hold up, why is it taking so long to get troops organized."

"Well there are multiple variables to account for like the amount of troops they have and the power of the individual troops."

"What is the make up of their troops."

"Mostly footmen with a few mages, looks like they want to test the waters before going in with a full frontal attack on our borders."

"I'll look further into it, but there is one more thing, isn't Castle Mordred close to the human encampment. Why don't they subdue the humans..."

Three voices were echoing throughout the room as Alistair hides behind a pillar, itching for secrets and information. There were two men with similar structure as any other demon Alistair has seen, which was not many.

The woman was the first to talk, seems to be the smartest of them. She talked in whispers, with the two males nodding their heads.

Alistair reached into the previous host memories and fond the identities of the meritorious people. Anastasia was Alistair Aunt and strategist general of the demon army. While the man to the right of her was named Sacred, the War Administrator and a training mentor of the old Alistair. The man to the left of Anastasia was Gastor the Agriculture Administrator.

Basil and Phaedra, the King and Duke entered the room, almost immediately the other three sat at there seats while the shadow stood at the side of Duke Phaedra.

Alistair noticed that he never tried to find out the shadow's identity, but no matter how hard he looked there seemed to be a barrier preventing his from entering the memories about this figure.

The shadow's head glanced slightly at Alistair then brought his gaze directly back to the map on the the table.

"HOLY CRAP, I nearly shat myself! Grisha what the hell was that, it was like he knew I was trying to pry into memories of him." Alistair was fearful, wondering how much power this one man had.

"Be wary host, he may not be the strongest in the room yet he was able to notice your sight on him." Grisha was also fearful, wondering if she'll lose the host so soon. She could not let that happen, she needs him.

"Proceed with caution everyone in this room has the power to notice your gaze but they have to concentrate, only the shadow can subconsciously notice your sight."

The shadow then spoke into the Kings ear. But since his voice was so ragged and deep Alistair was unable to make out the word he said.

"I grant you permission to leave the room lurker, you're serve is no longer needed at this current time." said Basil.

"Thank you my King, may you ever be successful in your endeavors." The voice was ragged and deep, but at the same time seducing.

The shadow dispersed in a blast of darkness leaving only the empty space it once stood.

"I need to leave." Alistair thought inwardly. As he turned around he was meet with the sight of a shadow. Quickly the shadow latched onto him and clasped a hand on his throat. Alistair tried to struggle but it was all for naught.

"Hmm, your a smart one, prying into places where your not supposed to be I see. Almost comical, your father did the same thing when he and I were younger. Like father like son I guess."

The same voice from the war room murmured a chant in a unrecognizable language and sequence. This whole process took only a few seconds, but they felt like minutes as fear crept up Alistair's spine. Then there was a sudden darkness enveloping around Alistair, numbing his seances. The last thing he saw was a system message.

[Host has been effected by darkness and shadow element. Immediate action has been placed. Host stay vigilant.]

Then he surrendered to the overwhelming magical presence and fainted for the second time transmigrating into this world.
