2 The Other Nakamura

The moment they arrived at the school was not so great, even if it was his usual routine whenever he arrives. He stepped out of Yuu's car and found himself grimacing at the voices behind him as people began talking about him. About what exactly?

"What is Yuu doing with that filthy male omega?" Rei hears a girl's voice, hissing and disgusted but chooses to ignore it, closing the car's door.

"They are cousins, aren't they?"

"What?!"

"Poor Yuu. He has a homo and omega of a cousin..."

"Right?"

Rei just sighed, looking at Yuu before smiling at him. "Thank you for the ride, Yuu-chan!2"

"Don't forget what I said earlier. And don't call me by that weird nickname!" Yuu looked at him, cringing at the nickname, which caused Rei to laugh and wave goodbye as he started walking away.

It would have been a lie if Rei said to himself that he didn't like the attention the people around him were giving. He didn't find it amusing at first, but still... That can't change the fact that it's irritating and insulting in some way.

Half of the people greet him while half are whispering whenever he walks into the hallway of their campus. Rei has surrounded himself with different people since he was a child, so he is used to it. May it be young or old, student or teacher, he can get along with almost everyone. What 'almost' means: First, you are not an alpha, and second, it's not new to him if he hears recent gossip about him. After all... Not all of it was wrong.

"Rei's an omega?"

"Eh? Really?"

"My parents told me that male omegas are disgusting."

These words and treatment are typical to male omegas like him. In this world, the alpha is considered the highest rank, and the omega is the lowest. Male or female omega, the treatment is not different. They will forever be regarded as the 'slut'. A whore. The disgusting one.

'Disgusting…' Rei smirked, sitting on his usual chair at the back of the classroom and near the window. His thoughts were immediately cut off because of the school bell signaling their next subject.

He slammed his face on the table before whispering. "I want to go home already..."

--

Another tiring class was finished. Rei starts to drift into a deep sleep on his desk but winces as his table moves from the impact of someone slamming their hands on it. He shifted his head forward, glaring at the person responsible for it but smirked when he saw a very familiar short brown-haired3 woman who was looking back at him. Her brown, piercing eyes were trying to dig a hole in his head.

"You're late." The woman in front of him huffed, crossing her arms. "Shiori and I have been trying to contact you."

'Shit,' he cursed mentally, patting his pocket to find his phone, and the moment he saw the screen, he groaned. '24 missed calls?!'

"Sorry. My phone is in silent mode." Rei forced a grin, but the girl in front of him just continued to glare at him. Clearly, not buying it.

"You missed the first class, and you're telling me that your phone has been silent?!"

He sighed, groaning and covering his ears. "Give me a break, Yasuko~"

"That's right, Yako! Maybe he stayed up and played all night again, so he didn't have the mood to argue~"

A blonde wavy-haired girl1 popped up behind Yasuko, smirking at Rei, which made the other one roll her eyes. Yasuko just sighed when she looked in the direction of the red-hair, who just yawned at what their other friend said, which caused the girl to pout and pull a chair beside him, sitting on it which Yasuko smirked.

"Next time, we will get jealous if you don't bring us along!" the blonde girl beside her whined, shaking Rei's shoulder. "You must tell us who your new boy is!"

Rei blankly stared at nothing as he let the blonde shake his brains out. "I don't have one, Shio."

"You are glowing lately, so stop lying! No one can get through the great Shiori Tsuruoka!" Shiori placed her hand on her chest and smirked at Rei, who just blinked at her, confused.

"Besides, we already knew that you broke up with the guy who kept bugging you these past few days. What's his name again? Sora? Shiro? Shun?" Shiori thought, counting in her fingers.

"Souta." Yasuko corrected, sitting in front of Rei and opening a book.

"Right! Souta!"

"So? Why did you break up with him? Don't tell me..." Yasuko whispered, looking at Rei from the corner of her eyes.

"He got serious?"

Rei sighed and nodded, looking at the window. "Yeah."

"Then?" Shiori leaned closer, tilting her head, "Who's the new guy?"

"No one..."

Rei tries to avoid the question, but Shiori stares at him, narrowing her eyes as she doesn't look convinced by what he said.

"Rei... Look at me."

"What?" Rei asked, solemnly and looking so done as Shiori's piercing yellow eyes stared directly at him, analyzing every detail and every movement in his face before asking.

"Have you gotten back with him?"

"W-What are you talking about?!" Rei gasped, blushing and looking to the window and avoiding her gaze, which he immediately regretted because of how disappointed she sounded.

"Re-i."

He squeaked as he sensed the menace in the voice of the girl in front of him, still refusing to look at Shiori. "E-Erk!"

"Didn't you promise us that you won't go back to him? Hmm?"

Rei gulped. "D-Did I?"

"Rei Nakamura!" Shiori shouted as she slammed her fist on the table and Rei flinches, immediately looking at her.

"Shiori, calm down," Yasuko whispered, patting her shoulder which Shiori pouted, glaring at the window.

"It's been like what? Two years? You were crying your heart out, calling him names, and telling us that you wouldn't go back to him just to go back to square one?! That bastard, Haruo doesn't even deserve you..."
