19 Better than You

Kyou was shocked when Rei suddenly grabbed him by his wrist, pulling him out of the living room and away from their friends. He just stares at the back of the red-haired Omega dragging him, noticing how Rei's hand wraps around his wrist which, weirdly on his perspective, looks tiny and felt soft on his skin. 'Should I pull my hand away?' He asked himself with his brow frowning. He did not even know how to react because of how fast Rei acted. Before they could even step out of the house and pull his hand away, the latter stopped and turned his head in his direction.

Rei sighed, giving him an awkward smile and letting go of Kyou's wrist. "I'm sorry for suddenly pulling you. You know Shiori's attitude when she wants something."

"Where are we going anyway?" Kyou asked, scratching the back of his head and turning his gaze away from Rei with his hand on his pocket.

"Well..." Rei tilted his head to the side, thinking. "We're going to buy beer and snacks."

"Does it have to be me? You can bring Yasuko or Yuu." Kyou groaned, scratching the back of his head while looking around which the red-hair finds amusing. Ahh. Kyou just wants to stay because of Yuu.

"Shio will make a ruckus if I bring Yako. And besides..." Rei smirked, glancing at the Alpha in his peripheral view. "I know you just want to stay because of Yuu."

"I-I'm not." Kyou denied it, acting serious but his red ears are betraying him again.

This reaction made Rei chuckle to himself, covering his mouth with his fist. 'So... He also has a cute side. Is this Yuu's effect on him? It's not too bad.' Rei thought, smirking as he watched the black-haired Alpha ignore his gaze. Ah. The way he reacts makes Rei want to tease him.

Rei teasingly grinned, stepping closer to Kyou before whispering. "Come on~ I know you do."

"Shut up." Kyou glared at him, feeling irritated with the way Rei teases him.

Rei shook his head, smiling and crossing his arms. "You're just too soft when Yuu's involved. Why don't you just corner him and confess already?" 

"Are you serious? Suggesting something like that makes it looks like you don't know him enough." Kyou chided, looking proud as he smirks which kind of rubbed Rei in an irritating way.

"Are you saying that you know my cousin better than me?" Rei smirked back, faking a chuckle.

Kyou nodded, shrugging. "Yeah." 

"Huh! Funny." Rei huffed, leaning closer to Kyou before whispering. "Then why are you still in the friend zone?"

Kyou took a step back, glaring down at Rei who's a few inches smaller than him. 'Tsk. This Omega is getting ahead of himself.' He thought, taking a deep breath to control himself and not to be irritated. After all, they are both acting as friends in front of Yuu. Who knows? Someone may walk in while they are talking. He didn't know what Yuu and their friends thought after he made a scene when they entered. He didn't know how to give them the idea that they are 'friends', okay? His thoughts were cut off when Rei starts waving his hand in front of him, making him blink in shock.

"Hey!" Rei asked, raising a brow and acting like he is cringing before teasing him. "Are you seriously daydreaming right now? Sorry to tell you but I'm not Yuu so don't fall for me!"

"What the hell are you saying? I was just---"

Before he could answer, they are both cut off by a curious soft voice coming from their left. They turned their heads in the direction of the voice and were faced by Yuu who was carrying two boxes. One box is for the plates and utensils while the other one is filled with photo books. He was smiling at the two of them but tilting his head to the side, wondering. They can even imagine a big question mark above his head.

"Rei and Kyou?" Yuu walked closer to them, balancing the two boxes in his hands. "What are you two doing here?"

"We're..." Kyou looked at Rei, internally panicking as if asking for help to the red hair.

Rei innocently smiled at his cousin. "Nothing. We're talking about what snacks we should buy."

"Is that so?" Yuu raised a brow, turning his gaze and suspiciously eyeing Kyou. "Then I'm glad that you two of you are getting along."

"Yeah..." Kyou nodded, forcing a smile.

"Of course!" Rei forced a laugh, patting Kyou's shoulder. "I have to be kind to my savior after all."

Yuu's smile slowly faded, eyes widening at what Rei said and immediately turning his head to Rei. "Wait. What did you just say? Savior? Kyou saved you? From who? And why didn't you didn't tell me anything?!"

"Erk!" Rei screeched, raising both of his hands to stop Yuu from panicking. "I'll tell you later, okay? It's nothing important."

"What do you mean?! That's what you always say when something happened to you." Yuu snapped, brow frowned, and face red because of how angry he is.

Rei loudly sighed. "I'm fine, Yuu. I came home alive, didn't I?"

"So you will wait for something to happen to you before you say something?" Yuu hissed, tightly holding the boxes and leaning closer to Rei as if inspecting him before sighing to calm himself down. "Just promise that you will tell me everything."

"Yes. I promise." Rei smiled, chuckling at how overprotective Yuu is.

Kyou blinked at Yuu's outburst. An overprotective Yuu is new to him. Yuu looks cool and calm. He is the type of person who looks like he got his shit together. It's even rare for him to be 'this' emotional. He turned his attention to Rei who is already staring at him with a smirk on his lips and sticking his tongue out. 'Bastard...' He thought, shaking his head. Why is he even competing with the cousin in the first place? It makes him look stupid. The three of them stopped when Rei's phone started ringing. The two watched Rei pick up his phone from his pocket before turning his head to Kyou, brightly smiling. Too bright that it's suspicious.

"Hey, Kyou. Why don't you help Yuu? I'll just answer this for a bit." Rei smiled, raising his phone to their faces. "Please~"

Kyou was about to complain but Yuu spoke first, shaking his head as he smiles. "It's fine. I can manage. It's just two boxes."

"No. Kyou can help." Rei insisted, tilting his head to the side. "Right? 'Kyou'?"

Kyou mentally groaned before he sighed, giving a nod. "Y-Yeah. No problem."

"I'll wait for you outside then~" Rei whispered to Kyou, leaning closer to him before winking.

The two blinked as they just stand near the door, watching Rei wave at them. He was even lightly skipping as he opened the door before going out. Yuu and Kyou looked at each other. Kyou felt a drop of sweat from his forehead when he saw Yuu smirking at him, teasingly nudging his sides. He didn't know why but he didn't have a good feeling about it. Is it just his imagination? It seems like Yuu is misunderstanding something.

Meanwhile, Rei closed the door behind him and walk a few steps away from the front door. He was thinking of patting himself on the back for being a great cupid. Actually, he didn't really receive a call. It was just a text message from Haruo but he decided to leave the two and be alone for a while. A little token for the 'friend zoned' dork.

He was all smiles until he felt his smile drop when he opened Haruo's text message: I will be late again today. I need to handle some paperwork for a seminar with my colleagues. Go ahead and rest first when you got home. See you later.

"Colleagues huh..." Rei sighed, raising a brow. His gut is telling him that something is wrong. First, valentine's day then now? The plans Haruo didn't even bother to tell him are making him feel... Worried? Confused? Jealous? Insecure? Is this normal? They are not really in a relationship in the first place. He run a hand through his hair as he sighed, frustrated. He didn't like this feeling. At all.
