35 Sleeping Beast

Angeal pouted as she looked at Ivar, who now seemed to be trying his best not to laugh at the situation.

This beast's personal servant seemed to be enjoying their moment, making the sweet human girl want to kill him, too!

"What's so funny," Angeal mouthed slowly, feeling so frustrated.

Ivar was serious a moment ago and now as he walked over to assess their master, he is stifling his own laugh.

"I'm sorry... it's just that things escalated differently," he apologized and said as he bit his lip, slapping his own leg to stop himself from laughing.

Seeing Ivar like this made Angeal squint her eyes at him. She lifted her hand then gave him a slap on the shoulder, making him laugh more in silence.

"Nngh..."

The two of them went silent instantly when they heard their master grumble, complaining with the slight noise that they were making. Angeal gave Ivar a deathly stare, begging him to get this thing over with so she could leave.

Ivar turned serious after a few seconds then he lifted both of Devin's arms slowly from Angeal's waist, making her leave his hold. When they were sure that Devin was fast asleep, Angeal silently, hurriedly, left the bed then hid behind Ivar for protection.

The girl quickly got her phone from her pocket then typed furiously and showed the text to Ivar.

"What's with him? He is an unpredictable, annoying beast," the text read and Ivar was trying his best not to laugh again when he read Angeal's complaint.

"I'm sorry you had to endure that," Ivar whispered, making the girl roll her eyes at him. "Even I don't know what had happened," he added sounding serious and the girl in front of him sighed as she pouted.

"At one moment he seemed to be on the kill then he's now calm as a baby," she typed and Ivar nodded, agreeing to her statement.

"One thing is for sure, though," he started, making the girl cock her head, waiting for Ivar to continue speaking. "How he is acting now... really had something to do with you," he said finally and the girl looked at Devin, sleeping peacefully on the bed.

'Why is he acting this way when we just met recently?'

Ivar slowly walked to the bed, then put his hand over Devin's body. He closed his eyes then he started mumbling a spell to himself. It was a spell taught to him by Devin's mother, to assess how his curse is doing.

After a few seconds, Ivar's eyes opened in shock, not knowing what to do with what he just found out. He found out that Devin's more stable now compared to when he was when he ate souls.

'How is that possible?'

He looked at Angeal with an unreadable expression and this made the girl feel uneasy.

"What's wrong," she mouthed as Ivar stood up then sat on the couch in front of the coffee table.

"Sit," he ordered Angeal and the girl hesitantly did so.

Ivar snapped his fingers and the purple rose in a glass container appeared in front of them, standing ever so beautifully on the coffee table in the middle of the room.

Angeal stared at it, in awe, as the purple flower petals slowly detached itself one by one. The rose was so bright, it even overpowered the light the candle was emanating! The black room of their master now looked bright purple, making their surrounding more mystical and at the same time, enigmatic.

Ivar's eyebrows twitched as he looked at the rose. There were no longer thorns surrounding it compared to when they last checked it. What wondered him more was that there were no longer thorns... but the flower petals were already falling. To him, it is a bad sign.

A bad sign that their master's life span is ticking like a time bomb.

Ivar looked at the girl beside him then spoke in a whisper. "Touch the glass."

The girl blinked her eyes a number of times, curious as to why Ivar ordered her to touch something so beautiful... and frail at the same time.

Hesitantly, Angeal slowly raised her hand to touch the glass. The moment the tips of her fingers touched it, the purple rose started to emit gold glitters. She looked at the immortal beside her, then he nodded, indicating for Angeal to further touch the glass.

The moment her palm touched the whole glass, they were taken aback the moment the whole room turned bright purple.

"What?"

Ivar noticed that the petals of the purple rose stopped falling. Compared to what they saw earlier that the flower seemed to wither, now it showed the complete opposite.

It was as if the flower is being brought back to life!

Seeing this, the handsome personal servant of Devin felt satisfied with the results, yet at the same time alarmed.

What could this have meant?

"Hmm... I've seen enough," Ivar mumbled to himself but it was enough for Angeal to hear.

The moment she removed her hand on the glass, the room turned dark again, only leaving the candle to give them enough light. Ivar snapped his fingers, making the purple rose disappear in front of their eyes.

Angeal quickly got her phone from her pocket then typed.

"What was that, Ivar," the text read and Ivar sighed, feeling confused himself.

At first, he really speculated that Angeal had something to do with how Devin acted. But now that he did this little experiment which showed a big result, he knew that the human girl indeed had something to do with Devin's actions.

Angeal tugged on the sleeve of the man beside her, getting his attention. The moment Ivar's eyes met hers, the girl cocked her head, feeling curious than ever. Ivar stood up, making Angeal stand as well.

"I have to go."

'Huh?'

The moment Angeal blinked her eyes, Devin's personal servant was nowhere to be seen. Only then did she realize that she was left alone in the room again with the sleeping beast.
