66 See Their World

It was already evening and the dinner party would start soon. They're only waiting for Angeal, Arvid, and Frey, then the party would formally begin.

BEEP BEEP!

Hearing an unfamiliar sound of a car outside their mansion, everyone went outside to see who it was.

The silver gray Mercedes S600 cruised and stopped in front of the mansion. Ivar was sitting in the driver's seat with so much soft leather around him that he could barely hear the 389 horsepower, 6-liter engine.

Ivar could feel the power of the car. One hundred thousand pounds worth of German engineering. This was a car that seemed super expensive!

Ivar and Ava walked out of the car as the other immortals and one mortal stood outside of the mansion, in wonder as they looked at the vehicle.

They never had a car in the mansion even after a hundred years... so whose is this?

Ava bowed as they saw them outside. Her eyes were still devoid of emotions as she paired it with an empty smile.

"Hey, isn't this baby a beaut? I named it Karina!"

Ivar walked and stopped in front of them as Devin squinted his eyes at him.

"Explain this car to me," he instructed and Ivar showed a nervous smile.

"Well er... Ava and I—"

Ava opened the back seat to reveal two humans that seemed to have passed out.

"I'll put them in the Intervigilium," she said as she gave another bow. "If you will excuse me," she added then when she held the humans in each of her hand, one on the left, one on the right, the three of them disappeared into thin air.

"Oh... why'd she go," Ivar mumbled to himself, making Martha and Gwen look at each other, curious at his remark.

'Did they become close?'

Devin crossed both of his arms in front of his chest.

"I know you were about to include Ava in your excuse. I know she's smart enough not to get dragged in it," the Soul Eater said making Ivar scratch the back of his head.

"Ehe... Devin, having a car is nice!"

Hearing this, the old man and the Unmovable God, Edwin, stifled their laugh. Knowing how playful and naughty Ivar can be, they already knew that he used their master's money to buy it.

What a shameless man!

Devin raised his eyebrow at him then spoke.

"And what is the purpose of this car?"

"Well," Ivar started then he looked at the car behind him briefly. "It would make carrying humans for your consumption easier!"

Hearing his reason, Devin scoffed.

"We have teleportation powers, Ivar. How could we possibly have a car? What if they see you putting humans in and mistake it for kidnapping?"

Hearing their exchange of conversation, even Martha and Gwen were stifling their laughs, finding Ivar's reasons so stupid.

"Duh! Ava and I can handle this without being noticed!"

Devin's eyebrow twitched, feeling slightly annoyed.

"Give the car back and return my money."

"Noooooo!"

Hearing Devin say this and seeing his retreating figure, he grabbed his arm to stop him.

"Having a car is really, REALLY, a nice thing!"

Devin sighed seeing Ivar act this stubborn. He turned back to face him then shook his head.

"For what purpose? You even used my money and—" Devin looked at the car and then back at the stupid personal servant in front of him. "How did you even learn how to drive?"

Only now that that thought had crossed his mind.

Ivar gave his master a smug grin.

"You are underestimating this person! My eyes see and can follow anything for staying here for a hundred of years!"

Hearing this, Devin smirked.

"Like monkey see, monkey do?"

Ivar's eyes and mouth widened at his remark.

"You—!"

Now everyone couldn't hold it in. The people behind Devin laughed out loud as they heard him tease Ivar. Hearing his witty remark, they no longer couldn't help but laugh at it.

Seeing all of them laugh at him, Ivar squinted his eyes at their master and pouted.

"You teased me in front of them..."

Devin shrugged.

"Not my problem. Return the car and don't use my money without my permission."

Not wanting to take the car back, Ivar grabbed Devin's arm abruptly, surprising him.

"No! I will convince you that we do need a car! We're super rich! Why have the need to return it!?"

With a snap of his fingers, he put an enchantment on Devin's chest, making his eyebrows furrow.

This is an enchantment that doesn't allow beings to teleport!

"Hey!"

Ivar ignored their master's annoyance. He forcefully dragged Devin, opened the passenger's seat, then forced him to sit inside.

"We will be picking up Angeal, Arvid, and their friend, Frey!" Arvid looked at the others then did a salute. "Laters, guys!"

He then went inside, then drove off, abducting their master.

"Oh, that Ivar..." Martha continued laughing, her happy tears escaping from her eyes. "He can really brighten up the mood."

Gwen laughed and chimed in.

"I know he bought the car because he wanted to," Gwen commented as she shrugged her shoulders.

"Yeah... he has a passion for cars through the years," Edwin added and Gladios chuckled.

"Well, with him getting Devin out of the house, it is another way for him to enjoy, don't you think," the old man said, making those who heard him nod in agreement.

"He's right. Somehow he also has to enjoy than brood on about his life, making him aloof," Edwin remarked and then all of them went inside of the house as they waited for the others.

***

As Ivar drove going to the university, Devin squinted his eyes at the personal servant beside him.

"So you wanted to say that the purpose of this car... is to pick them up? They work for me, remember," the Soul Eater said, making Ivar scoff.

"Until now... you still don't get it?"

The two of them fell into silence. As Devin looked outside the window, he noticed that the sun was no longer in sight. It is now the season wherein there are shorter days... but longer nights.

"I bought this car for you to enjoy the world outside," Ivar said then Devin looked at him.

"We get to see the world with our powers—to and fro," he commented and this made Ivar sigh.

"Devin... try to see and enjoy the world in the perspective of the humans. I know we are cautious about our identities... but what's the harm? It doesn't mean that we shouldn't enjoy."

When the Soul Eater heard this his lips turned into a tight line.

He was right...

They have been staying in the human world for a hundred years. But never did it cross his mind to enjoy. They had been focusing so much on looking for clues about the curse... that they never bothered enjoying their world.

'Should I open up my mind... and see their world through my own eyes?'
