29 Left Edwin with No Choice

"Devin!"

When the others heard Ivar's panicked voice, Angeal, Gwen, and Arvid rushed to them to check on their master.

The last time he was like this was a week ago. They have been doing their best to satisfy their master's hunger since then so why is this happening again?

"Ivar, what's happening," Gwen whispered to him, feeling confused. "Didn't he have a soul for today," she added and Ivar knelt down to assess Devin.

"I don't know, I—"

Devin already started coughing out blood and the white in his eyes started turning red. Alarmed of what this sign meant, Ivar looked at the people behind him and ordered them rashly.

"Go get Edwin. Now!"

Arvid was almost stunned to have heard the urgency in Ivar's voice but in just a second, he disappeared into thin air, looking for his father.

Gwen looked at Angeal beside her then held her hand. Her eyebrows furrowed as she spoke, urgency evident in her voice.

"I'll go look for mom. I'll keep gramps from here. Stay away as much as possible. Do you hear me," she ordered then she suddenly disappeared in front of her in a flash.

Angeal, however, didn't leave yet. She still stood in her place, taken aback by the series of events that happened. A week had already passed yet this event occurred again.

Coincidentally... every time she is around.

"Angeal! You heard what Gwen said!"

The girl was suddenly shaken back to reality the moment she heard Ivar's voice. When she was about to go, Edwin appeared right beside Devin, making Angeal stop in her tracks feeling amused and surprised at the same time by his sudden appearance.

"What happened, Ivar," he asked and Ivar just shook his head.

"I don't know. We have to keep him away. Now!"

Arvid appeared right beside Angeal again, surprising her. If Angeal had a voice, she would've shouted in an instant.

"Let's go."

Swiftly, he carried her in his arms then started sprinting away from them. The moment Arvid called his father and told the situation, Edwin already advised his son that no matter what, under any circumstances, he had to bring Angeal out of the mansion or else...

She'd die.

"We have to go away now or else—"

'!!!'

Devin with his inhumane strength, pushed Edwin with full force in just one shove. Their realm's Unmovable God was sent flying in the air, making him hit the mansion wall hard.

"Nnngh!"

Edwin winced as his back hit the hard mansion wall. As he sat up slowly, feeling the pain travel his body, he realized that their master was slowly regaining his true strength since he ate souls for consecutive days.

"Ivar, he has regained his strength! Do something!"

The moment Edwin shouted this, Ivar went in front of his master, blocking his path. He looked back and saw that Arvid was still carrying Angeal in his arms. Ivar sighed a bit in relief as they escaped, then he looked at their master.

"Devin, calm down. Control. Remember you have to—"

This time, it was Ivar who was sent flying.

"Ah!"

In just one push, Ivar hit the back of Arvid, making the three of them fall on the floor. Angeal's head hit on the tiles, making her slightly dizzy. Ivar and Arvid struggled to sit up as Angeal slowly looked at her surroundings, seemingly in a daze—in a state of confusion.

'What is happening?'

Angeal raised her head. Everything was happening so fast around her!

Ivar stood up abruptly when he noticed that Devin was walking towards them with the intent to kill. His eyes were locked on Angeal, as if she was his main target.

His prey.

Seeing Devin like this, panic rose in Ivar as he aggressively forced Arvid to stand up.

"Hey! Snap out of it. Take Angeal out of here!"

The moment Arvid heard this, he went back to his senses. He suddenly looked at Angeal then held her hand.

'We have to teleport!'

Ivar stood still where he was, watching Devin's every move.

Now that their master had been eating souls for consecutive days, he is slowly gaining his strength back to glory. If he had been eating souls for his consumption, then why couldn't he control himself?

Before when they were finding ways to control his hunger, he was uncontrollable. He went on a rampage, making his curse worsen—almost leading to his death. If it weren't for Ivar keeping watch on him, he would've been dead before they went home!

But now this... as Ivar was staring at their master who had his eyes locked on the human girl, he wondered what made him uncontrollable, when he had been eating souls already, and not drinking human blood.

'It had to be her,' Ivar thought, his eyes still watchful on Devin's every step.

As Arvid closed his eyes and held both of Angeal's hands, he mumbled to himself, chanting a spell that would teleport both of them out of the mansion. It should've worked the moment he said the spell, but the moment his lips closed, they still stood there in place.

'What?'

Arvid looked at Ivar's back, feeling alarmed.

"I can't get her out!"

"What!?"

The moment Ivar turned his head to look at them, Devin grabbed him by the collar with his right hand then mercilessly threw him away at the side like garbage.

The moment Edwin saw this, his eyes widened then he went out of the wall's hole, appearing in front of Devin in an instant. With just one kick to the chest, he sent their master flying, successfully protecting his son and the human girl.

"Son, just run away with Angeal!"

A yellow light emanated from Edwin's body, making the mansion light up. It was as if there was a bright yellow star in front of them! Arvid stood still beside Angeal, looking at his father in awe.

He never saw his father like this, even in training!

Edwin turned his hands into tight fists as he waited for Devin's next move. Their master's body hit hard on the expensive painting on the wall, making it an art that lost its aesthetics.

Now everything turned serious. Devin's power started to show its real potential and it left Edwin with no choice... of revealing and using his true strength against their master.
