37 Kingdom of Elysion

The moment Angeal realized that she was left alone inside the room of their master, she quickly stole a glance on the sleeping Soul Eater.

'Don't you dare wake up,' she thought internally as she squinted her eyes at the immortal sleeping soundly on the bed.

When she made sure that he was fast asleep, she silently tiptoed out of the room, afraid that she might wake him.

The human girl quietly closed the door and when she turned around, she was surprised to be greeted by his grandfather's tight embrace.

"Oh, Angeal... my child," he said, his worry evident in his voice. Angeal blinked her eyes a few times then she embraced her grandfather, knowing how worried he must've been.

'Oh, Pops... I might've worried him to death!'

Martha and Gwen also walked up the stairs. The moment they saw Angeal, they rushed to her to check up on her.

"Are you okay? Did master do something to you? Were you hurt?"

As Gwen kept asking questions, Martha nudged her to silence her.

"Let's talk somewhere else. We are in front of his room!"

Realizing this, the four of them went to the living room in the second floor then they all sat down on the couch, feeling relieved that the scary thing that had happened was already finished.

Once the old man knew that his granddaughter was safe, he was relieved, but at the same time he felt dizzy since his BP rose higher than normal.

Angeal looked at Gladios with worried eyes. She grabbed her phone from her pocket then typed.

"Pops, don't worry. I am safe. He didn't do anything to me," she assured, comforting the old man but he just shook his head, still feeling a bit uneasy of what had transpired a while ago.

"I was locked up in the study by these two, scared and paranoid to death of what might have happened to you!"

When he said that, Gwen and Martha felt guilty as the two fidgeted their fingers.

"I'm sorry, Gladios... we didn't want anything to happen to you, too," Gwen apologized, sincerity etched in her voice then Martha chimed in.

"That's right. I know it sounds bad, but we could only hope for the others to protect her a while ago. We know they would protect her. They—"

"What if something bad had happened in which even the three couldn't prevent it from happening? Can you still say that?"

The old man had interrupted them, snappiness resounding in his voice. Harsh as it may sound, the three who heard him thought that he was right.

What if Ivar, Edwin, and Arvid weren't around? If they were around, what if they couldn't stand up against their master since he was already starting to regain his true strength?

Martha sighed then she sat beside him and she put her hand on his back to comfort him.

"Gladios, you have a point. We are sorry. But at least now we know that Angeal is safe," she just said and Angeal nodded, wanting her grandfather not to worry anymore.

"I really am okay, Pops! He did nothing," she typed and the three looked at her.

"What happened, really," Gwen asked, curiosity plastered on her face then the room fell into silence as they waited for Angeal to tell them what had happened.

They gave her time and was really patient since she really need to type out everything.

After waiting for what it seemed like five minutes, she clicked read and let the app speak for her. The moment the robotic voice stopped speaking, Gwen sat beside Angeal, with amazement plastered in her eyes.

"The purple rose's petals stopped falling," she asked, bewildered and Angeal nodded, not knowing why Gwen found it amazing.

"And Ivar took off without saying a word," Martha mumbled to herself but she was heard by the others. She looked at Angeal, looking serious than ever. "Is he still asleep now," she asked and Angeal nodded, answering her question.

Martha and her daughter, Gwen, gave each other a look that only them understood.

They knew that Ivar had speculations of how Devin acted differently. He told them that it may have something to do with Angeal. When the human girl told them what Ivar asked her to do, the two now confirmed that Angeal may be somewhat involved with their master's curse.

No, not somewhat—but REALLY involved.

"Where did Ivar go, for him to leave without a word," Gladios suddenly spoke, getting their attention. Martha rested her back on the couch then answered his question.

"I think he went to the Kingdom of Elysion."

Angeal cocked her head to the side, feeling unfamiliar with the place that she heard from the head housekeeper.

'Kingdom of Elysion?'

Gwen held Angeal's hand, knowing that she was curious of what she heard.

"Kingdom of Elysion is the name of our world. To the humans, it is what you call 'heaven,'" she answered and her eyes widened in amusement.

'Such a unique name indeed for heaven,' the human girl thought and Martha smiled as she spoke.

"If you look up the meaning of the name, it means 'the home of the blessed after death.' It is the final resting place of the souls of the heroic and the pure," Martha added and Gladios smiled, finding the definition of their realm beautiful.

"Like a place or state of bliss or delight," the old man commented and Gwen smiled brightly.

"That's right! If you think of it, it is like heaven," she chimed in then the old man was pulled into his thoughts, as he thought of himself.

The old man always wondered ever since he was young until the present... of where mortals go when they are to pass this life. He had read a lot of versions—most common ones saying the good will be led up, and the bad will be punished down.

Gladios thought even if he was a child that he should do well throughout his life time in order to be blessed with gaining access from above.

Reflecting on his life now, had he did well?

Gladios internally frowned when he remembered how he hadn't worked hard. He had a daughter who loved him very much, but died after giving birth. He wasn't able to ease her pain.

What's more is that he sold both of his soul and Angeal's soul to Devin. Isn't giving the life away given by the Almighty disrespect to such a blessing given to them?

Shaking himself from his thoughts, the old man sighed and an empty smile appeared on his face.

'Would I go there, in their realm, when it is time for me to go?'
