39 Almighty Seraphim

"Oh? What is my son's personal servant doing here after leaving the realm for more than a hundred of years?"

Heraleen, the Kingdom of Elysion's Seraphim spoke, her halcyon voice echoing in the vast white room surrounded by clouds. She waved her hand, indicating for her angel to stand by the side.

Her silver long hair fell over her shoulders and behind her back as she walked down from her golden throne. She was wearing a purple long dress with see-through white laces, making her look like a Greek goddess. Well, her name, Heraleen, was based on the Greek goddess, Hera, after all.

She has purple eyes that Devin inherited, paired with perfect red lips. Her face and body is so perfect—so ideal, she need not to apply cosmetics.

Heraleen as a Seraphim was not only beautiful, but she is also an epitome of kindness and intelligence. In spite of having such a high rank next to her father, the Almighty, she lived humbly, following the principles and rules of their world.

Angels look up to her as their second supreme master next to the Almighty. Her light is unmatched—making it evident that she indeed, is worthy of her position.

Ivar entered the room and walked in the middle of the room. Heraleen welcomed him with a smile and gave him a slight nod, acknowledging his presence.

Devin's personal servant knelt, bowing in front of their powerful Seraphim.

"I am sorry for coming unannounced, your excellency," he greeted, respect evident in his voice. The powerful Seraphim nodded then motioned for the Dominion to stand.

"You coming here unannounced after a hundred of years tells me that there must be an emergency, is it not," she asked and Ivar stood, still bowing slightly in front of their Highness.

"Yes, Milady. It is about your son."

The almighty Seraphim's eyebrow twitched the moment she heard that the reason of him coming was about her son. The last time that she had seen him was when she banished him from their realm, after giving him a curse, stripping him off from the ranks.

Heraleen was still angry at her son. However, his personal servant coming here after his son's banishment made her think if her son, Devin, is well off in the human world.

As a mother with such great powers, she found it heavy in her heart to punish her son and strip him off of his title. But she knew she had to do so... for he had done a great sin that violated the principles and virtues of their kingdom.

As a mother, Heraleen knew she had no choice to do so. She wanted her son to learn.

She wanted for him to learn from his grave mistake.

Heraleen closed her eyes, then sighed, feeling slightly shaken about Ivar's appearance concerning her son. She waved her hand, indicating for the other angels to leave the room so she is left alone with her son's personal servant.

"How is Devin," she asked, her sonorous voice plastered with worry.

Ivar's eyes met hers and he saw the sadness in her eyes. It was obvious that she still found it heavy in her heart for Devin to be banished from their realm even though a hundred years had already passed.

"Pardon me for this, Milady... but it is about our young master's curse," he started, making the Seraphim furrow her brows further.

"What about it? He has to learn from his mistakes. If you came here to ask for help on how to reverse the curse, I am sorry to say this, but you are wasting your time," Heraleen said snappily as she folded her arms in front of her chest. "Moreover, he has to look for answers on his own."

The moment the almighty Seraphim said this, Ivar lowered his bow, slightly finding her statement intimidating. But still he reminded himself that the reason why he came here was for his master.

His best friend.

"I am sorry, your highness... but it is just that I find it odd," he trailed off again, making Heraleen snap her fingers. The moment she did, two clouds appeared behind her and Ivar.

"Sit. I think this will be a long discussion," she instructed him and the two of them sat down, starting the conversation.

"Your majesty... young master's curse," he began, nervousness evident in his voice. "Why is it becoming worse even though he doesn't eat the souls of humans by force," he asked and this made Heraleen raise a brow at him.

"What do you mean," she questioned him, knowing full well how the curse works.

She made sure that branding her son as a Soul Eater is a punishment for him to learn from his mistakes. The curse she made required him to watch out for his actions. It made Devin hungry and craving for souls, making it a curse of suffering for him.

If he ate the souls of humans by force, it would be satisfying for him, but it would lessen his longevity as an immortal. It might even lead to his death. However, if he ate the souls of dying humans, it would satisfy him, but not for long, prolonging the suffering of his hunger.

Only Heraleen knew the cure to the curse. She thought well of inflicting this curse to her son in order for him to learn.

Banishing him from their realm and limiting him to stay in only one country on Earth is part of her plans for her son's redemption. Heraleen didn't want him to travel all around the world, for it may cause her son to rampage on human souls.

"You secretly asked me to watch over him, Milady," Ivar said, making the Seraphim in front of him leave her wandering thoughts. "We studied his curse through the course of time and we follow the findings we have in order to keep his life stable. But this time, I am unsure of what is happening to him anymore," he added, making the Seraphim look at him straight in the eyes.

"What is it?"

Ivar sighed before he stated his answer that surprised even the almighty Seraphim.

"He couldn't control himself in the presence of the human girl he saved."
