5 About Master

They finished eating breakfast and were already full even during lunch time. They all rested for a while before everyone went to do their usual routine inside the soul eater's mansion.

Edwin and his son, Arvid, went on with their usual training whereas Martha and Gladios went to deal with the important papers for the mansion. As for Gwen and Angeal, they were hanging the sheets at the garden for drying.

The moment Gwen and Angeal hung the last batch of sheets, the two of them sat down on the bench to rest as they looked at the garden's fountain.

"Today's a sunny day, isn't it? The breeze feels nice!"

Gwen stretched her arms as she spoke, making Angeal nod in agreement.

They could hear the leaves of the trees rustling as the breeze blew, giving the slightly hot afternoon coolness. The wind kissed Angeal's cheek, making her tuck the tendrils of her hair behind her ear to keep it in place.

Gwen sighed as she looked at the blue skies, the clouds slowly coming and going.

'This is nice,' she thought as she closed her eyes to relax for a few minutes.

Angeal then got her phone from her pocket then quickly typed in her app.

"What other things should we do for today," the phone speaking for Angeal said and Gwen looked at her teasingly the moment her relaxation was disturbed by the human girl.

"You're looking for more work? You do realize our boss had not been around for like, 18 years, yet you're looking for more work. Let's slack!"

When Gwen said this, Angeal rolled her eyes at her then grinned, finding Gwen's comment quite funny.

Gwen pulled out her phone then browsed in the web. Even as an immortal, Gwen and the others try to immerse themselves in what humans find interesting through the years. So far, what they liked the most was the involvement of technology and the internet.

Arvid on the other hand, acted more of a human rather than an immortal of their world. He grew with the exposure of Gladios and Angeal's human habits, because he grew here since he was born. For this young immortal, he is obsessed with playing video games.

As Gwen was browsing for some videos in YouTube, Angeal was pulled in her own stream of thoughts.

Why was their master not around for 18 years? Angeal never remembered him even though he stayed until the girl turned two years old. When she asked about this from Martha, she said that when Angeal was a baby until she turned two, Devin distanced himself not only from her, but from the others as well.

As Angeal grew, she wondered more and more about Devin. What he looked like, how he acted, and why he left for 18 years without even visiting for a single day. Not even a picture of him was left inside the mansion!

What made her more curious was that why did a powerful and magical being like him, decide to dwell in the human world?

"Urgh... there's nothing interesting in YouTube now," Gwen complained as she opened her phone's camera then she put her arm on Angeal's shoulder. "Selfie!"

But Angeal did not smile. She was still drowning in her thoughts which made Gwen realize that the girl beside her was physically present, but actually mentally absent.

Martha's daughter looked at the dazed girl beside her. "Earth to Angeal... are you okay?"

When Gwen shook her, Angeal looked at her then cocked her head to the right. To the others who knew Angeal well, this is her body language saying, "what is it?"

Gwen pursed her lips. "You're obviously thinking about something. Are you okay? Is it about gramps?"

Angeal shook her head then bit her lip, wondering if she should ask Gwen about their master, Devin.

Well, she had been asking some questions about him, but none of them gave her concise answers. They only gave her answers such as "he's powerful", "oh, he's moody", and "he's distinguished in our realm" and such.

But now, Angeal wanted to know more.

The girl typed in her app again and Gwen read as she typed. The moment she read her question, Gwen raised a brow at her.

"You're seriously still curious about our master?"

Angeal rolled her eyes at her, then typed rather aggressively, feeling slightly annoyed.

"You don't always answer me in detail when it comes to him," the text on the phone read and Gwen sighed.

"You do have a point," she commented, which made Angeal type again.

"Then tell me all about him!"

Gwen looked at Angeal for a few seconds, feeling a bit hesitant if she should say something to her or not.

"I'm not so sure of what I'm going to tell you."

Angeal blew out an air of frustration which made her look cute since she had no voice to express even her feelings of annoyance.

She typed on her app again. "I'm curious! My grandfather and I work for him but even he can't say why!"

Gwen frowned. She knew this was going to come. Angeal already grew into a young adult, yet until now, she still didn't know the reason why they came here working for Devin. Gladios told them that it should always be kept a secret from his granddaughter.

Angeal crossed her arms in front of her chest, feeling exasperated. She will be 20 years of age soon, yet no one told her about why they work for him, and no one told her details about their master.

Seeing her like this, Gwen sighed, then she relaxed her back on the bench's backrest.

"You really want to know something about master?"

When Angeal heard this, her head turned towards the girl beside her then she nodded, giving Gwen a reply.

"Very well then! I'll tell you after all of our chores are finished," she said and with that, Angeal smiled brightly, making her emphasize the beauty she possessed.
