Gasping for air Jace jumps out of the bed his vision blurred and slightly strained as he opened his eyes and looked around he took several shallow breaths before realizing he was dreaming about the day the war started . He stood up slowly and walked into the restroom turning on the sink Jace looked into the mirror and stared at himself his eyes were a slight tint of red from lack of sleep as bags started to form, hair in a complete mess he grabbed a rag ran hot water on it and washed his face " it's my shift now " walking back towards his bed Jace threw on his astronaut vacuum suit placed the helmet on his head and sealed pressed several bottom on his wrist pressurizing the suit before walking out of his room .

After the attack on Tandra 3 two years ago Jace life has changed dramatically he was drafted into the navy as a astronaut recruit and barely got his rank increased to astronaut 2nd class since his 2 years in space he fought zero battles and the strike force he was apart of strike force hydra only consisted of 1 cruiser 2 destroyers and several small but very fast corvette class starships and their only job was to patrol the border and send an emergency beacon if something is wrong nothing more nothing less , most fighting was happening on the northern and southeast border were massive fleets would clash for days maybe even weeks before deciding to retreat . This didn't bother Jace at all he wasn't made for the military life all he needed to do as a astronaut 2nd class is work on repairs and keep count on supplies for the rest of the crew.

Walking down one of several corridors on the destroyer Jace goes into the storage room to turns on a terminal to check out what supplies they needed and what repairs needed to be done and it seemed there was more repairs needed and damage done to the hull and engine of the spacecraft then supplies they had on the destroyer , grabbing a spare oxygen tank that he attach to his suit Jace picked up his plasma welder , attached a pack field with material on his back , and a cord with latches on it .

Checking that everything was operational on his suit jace began to walk towards a set of pressure doors but before he could put the access code in a man in a suit similar to his own but had several patches on it signifying that this man was a higher rank a astronaut sergeant to be exact, he walked up to Jace before he could walked threw the 3 sets of air tight pressure doors and spoke " have you begun your daily rounds yet young man ? " Jace shook his head and stared the guy into his eyes. " no sir I was going to start repairing parts of the hull of the starship on my space walk and replace the old metal plates with whatever left we have before our next supply transport comes in " the man nodded before going off to check on the other lower ranked officers and astronauts .

Pressing several buttons on the keypad near the first set of pressure doors Jace stepped threw got scanned by several machines and did the same process 2 more times before attaching he rope to a piping hold on the outside of the ship and beginning his space walk for the day . For 4 hours Jace was on the left side of the hull replacing worn down armor plates and welding them on with his plasma welder the whole time listening to music and singing out loud but since space was almost a complete vacuum no one could hear him

But what poor Jace didn't know was that a small battle fleet was coming straight towards strike force hydra though still very far away the sensors on the cruiser and 2 destroyers spotted the battle fleet of several dozen cruiser , destroyers, frigates and 2 battleships they were heavily out gunned and had little chances to even put a dent in such a fleet , but Jace was oblivious to the situation and was literally the only one still doing a space walk singing " Can't nobody tell me nothin' You can't tell me nothin' Can't nobody tell me nothin'
