1 Chapter 1 The First and Last Team I Will Join

Every person has a story, every person has something they are good at. As it turned out what I am great at wasn't your basic run of the mill skills, no, I'm great at war, but not the war you read about in the history books, my war was very different, yet at the same time was exactly what you read about. In the year 7649 after the following pandemics each occurring throughout the millennia the population steadily decreased to the point that, even though war was necessary there was no way for it to exist, or at least that is what was believed. That all changed in 7682 when a man had an Idea, the idea was to have a virtual battlefield where "soldiers" could move freely and fight as if they were in a real battle, if they died in the virtual battle there was no cost since nobody died, in some countries if you died then you were deemed to weak and were shot outright, but that was not the case for most. 

As time past the war system evolved as to not only be war simulated, but it became a game, where the soldiers avatars not only had stats but also either  randomly generated or personally selected powers, some chose their powers others had theirs randomly generated, each were allowed 3, when war was declared the countries had to reset their avatars stats as to be fair in order to show that their countries tactics were superior, and that was what everyone believed to be fair. Even with fairness, there is always one who finds a way to overpower the others, for many years nobody was able to do that, until a teenager named Ryan Mcgregor found a loophole that allowed him win any fight, no person could figure out what he did, he was accused of cheating, yet nobody could take him into custody because there was no way to hack the system, so that meant whatever he did was perfectly legal. Then one day he told everyone what he did, but at a cost nobody could copy him or do anything similar. After everyone even the leaders of the countries agreed to his terms he told what he did, he chose he 3 powers, one of which he called contemplate stat boost, which whenever his stats were below his opponents, the power would activate multiplying his stats by his strength which he said he only needed to be 10, his second power he chose he called Adaptation, which altered him and his powers to give him an advantage in any fight, and the third power he chose he called the juggernaut, which allowed him to boost whatever power he has at his disposal when ever he activates it. In case you couldn't tell that person is me, I am Ryan, now on with the story. Oh and fun fact, after what I did, they recreated the war system and made the previous one a video game, and I never lost!

I run through the halls of the simulated school, as I am about to turn the corner I stop and look at the reflection of the window, and just as to my expectation, there is a group of new players. This school is known as the grave of the firsts, the reason for that is once the power goes out in the building only sense power players can see in the dark, and better yet the doors auto lock when there is no power so they trap themselves. I throw a plastic ball to the end of the hallway and alert the new players, within the reflection I see a bulkier avatar say, "Kai, go check out the perimeter, we have company." I see a red haired male nod and start to run, as he turns the corner I knock him out before he can alert the others. 

I quickly check what he has, from the looks of it he mainly has his stats in dexterity and agility, and intelligence, i'm guessing he is meant to be a tracker. Which means that these news have planned out their team. I look in the reflection and look at their team more thoroughly, The bulky man has black, red eyes, and what appears to be a sword, judging from his size his main stat is strength, considering the fact his weapon is a sword I know that his dexterity is low, but in order to be a leader your intelligence skill has to be over 52, so that means his secondary is intelligence, so he's a smart tank which seems to be a strange build. I analyze another one of his team, and I spot a girl with a slim body, blonde hair and greenish eyes, she has a lot of pink within her attire, she isn't buff so her strength stat is very low, she doesn't appear to have anything special about her, im guessing she is the bulky one's girlfriend. 

I then analyzed another one of the team members while knocking out Kai once again, who was recovering. The next member has white hair and heterochromia, one eye is red, the other is a light green, judging from his size and muscle mass, he has a balance of strength and agility, which is a smart move, but he also seems to be extremely on edge, he most likely has ADHD in the real world, which I can exploit, I the hear him speak, "Hector, why hasn't Kai returned?" the bulky one responds unintentionally telling me their names, "I don't know Mark, but It would be best if we guard Lily until an unfortunate player walks in, we can have her take them down and gain some easy experience." I watch all three of them laugh. 

I then throw another plastic ball making them jump, I hear Hector say in a spooked voice, "Wh-who is there? ANSWER ME!?" I walk around the corner and Hector's face drops showing he knows who I am, despite the fear on Hector's face, both Lilly and Mark fail to realize they are in danger, Mark then says, "Aww walk into the wrong school did we friend? Would you like me to end your suffering?" Hector appears to want to say something, but is too scared to move, he is useless. I smile at Mark and say, "I wouldn't be so cocky if I was you, especially when you don't know who you're dealing with." the girl known as Lily starts to laugh and says, "Me and my boyfriend can take you down, isn't that right Hector?... Hector?" She turns to look at him and sees the look on his face, "What's wrong? You look like you just saw a ghost, I don't know why you are so scared It's one person. What is he going to do?" I smile, "You know who I am don't you?" He nods slowly and I say, "I'm thinking of being nice so I will offer you all a deal, If you kneel right now I will let you all keep your current stuff and not have to restart, does that sound fair?" Both Mark and Lily burst into laughter, but I watch Hector kneel and I smile, "Why don't you two fools turn around." their smiles fade as they turn to see Hector kneeling and then Mark turns back and says with a confused face, "Why are you able to scare hector, he is a veterin at this game, he is ranked at 21 out of 100, why is he kneeling to some stranger?" I smile, "My name is Ryan, I will give you one more chance to kneel, then I will walk away and let Hector say why he is scared." I watch Lily kneel and say, "Mark I don't know why Hector is kneeling, but I believe he wouldn't do it if he thought we could win." I look at Mark, "Are you going to kneel?" He laughs, "No I would never kneel to someone without a weapon, if you actually were a threat you would have a rare weapon from the game, but I see none, So you kneel." I turn to look at Hector and Lily and say, "I am a man of my word, so you will be spared, but Mark will not." He laughs and says, "I'm ranked 56, so that shows how long I've been playing. So I will give you a chance to walk out of the school untouched." 

I bring out a legendary sword from my inventory, "Eh this is a little overkill I'll just pummel you, say goodbye to all your stuff." I run at him and he brings out a rare weapon,

Razakorium, which is a crossbow meant for close range, if darts from it hit anything they make a concentrated explosion that is deadly to new players, I dodge the dart then activate contemplate stat boost and with my extremely boosted speed i vanish an immediately take him down, I then look at Lily and say, "Had you not kneeled you'd have lost everything you had obtained so far." she looks at Hector and says in a whisper, "How is he so strong?" then victor snaps out of his fear state and says, "This game wasn't originally a game, it was a war simulator where the players picked out 3 powers or had them randomly generated, long story short, Ryan there made himself so overpowered that they couldn't use the war sim system anymore because he wasn't able to be beaten, I recognized his face, because I wrote a paper on it, that's how I knew to kneel instantaneously.." She shudders and I nod, "Anyways, I will leave you all alone now, so I bid you adieu." I start to walk out and Hector says, "If it's not too much to ask… Could I join your team, I know you are more likely to say no, but I thought I might as well ask.." I stop and turn around and Hector seems to be sincere, I look at the ground and say after a sigh, "Ok, but I am the leader, and if you disobey me then I will take you out and end all your hard work. Am I making myself clear?" I ask with an emotionless expression, He nods and they are officially part of my team.

I hear a groan and hear the sound of footsteps as Kai turns the corner and yells, "Hector there is and in… intruder… oh.. Ok, so where is Mark, and why is Lily kneeling to the intruder?" I start to walk out of the school and Hector begins to follow while speaking to Kai, "First off the intruder turned out to be a player whom we stood no chance against, so if you're feeling guilty for being knocked unconscious don't because you're lucky you're alive. Secondly the intruder offered to let us all live if we got on our knees and kneeled, Mark did not, so yeah he's back to rank 100, but that is his own fault…" I turn around and put my finger to my lips, shushing Hector slightly annoying Kai, then I point to the sky and say with a whisper, "There are some players nearby, so be very quiet." Hector nods then Kai says in a whisper, "Hey Hector.. Why are you obeying this guy, your leader, so why are you taking orders?" Hector looks at me for permission to speak and I nod, he then says in a quiet voice, "That is Ryan, remember last year in english class when I wrote and read my paper to the class, and within it I talked about the original war simulator, and how one person who was a teenager managed to not only make themselves overpowered, but also incapable of loss?" Kai nods and says, in an excited whisper, "No way! Are you saying that Ryan is that person?" Hector nods then continues with, "Yes, so when I encountered him I asked him if he could lead the team, and he agreed to." Kai then turns to me, "Why though? Why agree to lead strangers you don't even know?" I shrug and open my mouth to speak then I stop, and then say in a normal voice, "We are surrounded, if you want to survive do exactly as I say and don't hesitate." They all nod and then a player spawns in causing Kai to laugh, "Ha, Mark just spawned in! He should have obeyed you." I nod then say, "That's not what we should be worried about right now, just try to stay alive, if i'm going to form a plan I need to know what your powers are, so It would be a good idea to tell me as of now." Hector nods and says, "I'll go first, my first power is something I called Overdrive, when I get badly damaged my strength and resistance doubles each time I get hit, my second power is what I call limit breaker which activates whenever Overdrive does, and makes my agility the same as my strength at all times, while my third power was a lucky random power that enhances my other two powers." I nod and say, "Lily what about you?" She smiles, "I can move through walls and objects, create weapons suited for any situation, and I can heal other players!" I look at her and say, "No offence but your powers stink.." Kai then laughs smugly, "I told you Lily!" I look at Kai, "What about you?" He smiles, "I can fly, control the elements and Morph into the shadows." I smile and say, "That's actually pretty good, but you could  have done more with that." He frowns and says, "What do you mean?" I then say, "Well you could have made it where you can teleport to anyone's shadows, as well as something I'd have called Shadow Bond, which would allow you to harm another player by attacking their shadow." He facepalms then says with a sigh, "Dang it.." I then say with a frown, "Also considering your build your skills are not suited for your powers, sure you can morph into the shadows, but since you are a tracker elemental powers won't help much, nor will flight, you should have either gone with the ability to activate thermal sight on command, and the ability to place a target on those you have seen allowing you to immediately pinpoint their location." 

He looks at me shocked and says, "Dang that would have been smart…" I nod and then say, "Mark what's your powers?" He looks at me and then looks down, "I can move at fast speeds, easily break large objects, and attack with nearly perfect accuracy." I facepalm and say, "Wow… you really wasted your powers, everything you just said is what you get from increasing a stat enough.." I then look around and say, "Considering the way you all have your powers built up, Hector 

activates your Overdrive and shields Mark and Lily, and If you get badly hurt then Lily can heal you. Kai I need you to merge with my shadow and be with me, I have a plan, but keep in mind when I tell you to jump out of my shadow and attack, do not hesitate, is that understood?" I watch Kai nod then merge with my shadow then I dash into the trees, Arrows fly at me and I deflect them while adaptation activates. I raise my palm and a barrier forms around my weak points stopping arrows from hitting them. I then hear the rank up sound and I know that my team is gaining the same points that I would have. I dash for the clearing and I am approached by 7 swordsmen who are smiling expecting to take me down with ease, I open my inventory and equip the rare sword Razforia, which has the ability to deal both physical and nonphysical damage nullifying the zero damage effect from powers that make ones body nonphysical, or as some might say is like a ghost. It is a sword that I had to find all on my own, I read an article on the systems update and added lore, which contained all that was needed to be known after the MMORPG update. The blade was said to be forged by the bones of a being who could break through reality. The sword has a pitch black handle with a red pulsating stone in the center, and has a blade that is made of what appears to be bones, so the lore seems to fit the description, and when used the only part that becomes ghastly or seems to break through reality is the blade. I obtained it by clearing a temple that was being raided by a group of bandit players who thought that they could take me down. Fun fact of that matter is not only did I get everything within that tomb, but I obtained their stuff as well. I look at the blade then at the group of swordsmen and smile. They dash at me and the fight has begun
