Chapter Three

"Josh! Josh!, we're waiting for you to come home!" I saw my little sister Lizbeth and My Mom smiling at me, my legs wanted to move but they wouldn't budge. "Ugh come on Josh, move!" I shouted. I looked down for a minute at my legs and looked back up only to see that my Mom and Lizbeth were gone "Mom, Lizbeth!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. "Josh wake up! You need to wake up Josh!" I heard someone shout then everything around me went black.

"Josh Wake up, Dang it! You need to wake up!" I opened my eyes to see Nora, Keith, and Mike in front of me with concerned faces."W-what happened?" I asked as I sat up and took in my surroundings. We were still at the camp but almost everything around us was destroyed. "We woke up not to long ago so we don't really know what happened all we know is that a couple of us died." Nora replied looking down. "How many people died exactly?" I asked. "10 of us." she mumbled. I put my hand on my forehead, 10 of us, 10 of us died for what? We didn't do anything to deserve this? So why are we here? Why do we have to die? Will all these questions I have ever get answered?

"Josh?" I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at Mike. "Yeah?" I replied. "What do we do now?" he asked. "I, I don't know." I said. "Alright as you know we were attacked unexpectedly and we lost 10 Irregulars and our camp was destroyed so we're moving more out in the border to another camp that has been prepared no questions asked." I looked to see the Man who's name I found out earlier was Mr. Hunter, he started escorting groups into vans. "What happened to the bus?" I asked Keith. "It's over there." Keith pointed to a bunch of trees and there it was the bus the other Irregulars rode in was now flipped over with a couple trees on top of it. "Wow….." I mumbled. "Exactly." Nora said. Three guards came over to us and escorted the four of us to our van.

It was about a 1 hour drive so we figured we were way deeper into the border now, meaning even if I were to escape, where would I go? How would I ever get back to my Mom and sister? "Yo Josh snap out of it!" Mike said as he flicked me in my forehead. Just then the van stopped and the door opened. "Alright Irregulars we're at the new camp, so get out!" Mr. Hunter shouted sending only me a death glare. I got up from my seat and got out the car with Keith, Nora, and Mike following behind. "What's Mr. Hunter's deal with you?" Keith whispered in my ear. "I don't know." I replied. "Isn't he the one who escorted you to the other camp?" Mike asked. "Yes." I said. I looked around to see where we were and saw rocky cliffs, canyons, and sand on the ground. "You're kidding?" Nora said. "Welp we're in a desert." Mike stated as he patted Nora on the back. "This place is to open, if we were to get attacked and try to run away they will spot us just like that!!" Keith shouted. I put my hand on his shoulder and looked at him "Don't worry at the next attack I have an idea." I said with confidence. "What kind of idea?" Mike asked with a grin on his face. "I'll tell you tonight." I replied. I had an idea, a good idea, an idea I hope works, because if it fails we will all die attempting to get out of here.

That night we sat in a circle in our cabin, "Ok I have a good plan but if it fails we all die." I said. Everyone nodded in response "So basically we can't have any problems happen during this escape plan?" Mike asked. "Nah stuff." Keith replied sending him a glare and smirk. "Can we just get to the plan!?" Nora shouted. "Right so at the next Attack there will be chaos everywhere, so if we're able to run away while we're under attack and make it the canyons we might have a chance to get away but we have to do it when there's a full moon so we can see better." I said. 'That…...that might work." Keith mumbled, "But the Society knows everything." he added. "Sure but only certain things and if we play our cards right we could make the Society think we're dead." I replied with a grin. "Think we're dead how?" Nora asked with a confused expression on her face, "If we leave something behind outside on the ground I'm pretty sure they'll think we're dead." I replied. "But what about our bodies?" Mike said. "Hmm hopefully our cabin explodes and maybe they'll assume our bodies exploded leaving nothing behind." I said. "That could work." Nora replied. Once our plan was set we went to bed with smiles on our faces ready for a Full Moon and another attack.

I woke up to some shouting outside, I looked over to see Mike, Keith and Nora gone. "Are they outside?" I asked out loud. I got out of bed and walked out our cabin to see a crowd of people surrounding something or someone. When I got closer I saw a body laid on the ground, it was that boy who called me a punk, his lips were blue and he had blood coming from his head  "What happened to him?" I asked as I leaned to feel for a pulse. "No one knows everyone just woke up and walked out here to find him dead on the ground." A girl replied. "Yeah and it looks like he was stabbed in the head with something and died instantly." Keith said who was now standing next to me with his hand on my shoulder. "Just leave him!" I turned around to see Mr. Hunter. "We can't just leave him out here on the ground!" I shouted. "You're Irregulars! Do you think I care!" he shouted back. "Well you must care considering how your here watching us!" I replied clenching my fists. "It's not like I had a choice!" he said. "Still! The least we can do is bury him!" I started digging at the sand with my bare hands, and noticed that Keith, Nora, and MIke started digging as well.

"Look at his neck." I heard Mike mumble, we all leaned over to look at the boy's neck. There right at the back was a hole, "It looks like the back of his neck was cut open." Nora said. "Yeah but why?" Keith asked. I took a moment to think. The Society knows everything about us but how? How do they know everything? The back of his neck was cut open…...the Society knows what we dream about... "The Society did this…." I mumbled. "What?" How do you know?" Nora asked. "Think about it, The Society knows everything. Even what we dream about but how? Well it could be something they put inside us when we're born." I replied. "So, they put something in his neck when he was born and the Society killed him, and collected his data by taking whatever they put in his neck out." Keith mumbled. "Yeah that pretty much sums it up, but it's only a hypothesis." I said. All of a sudden I felt a fist impact my face making my head jerk back leaving a bruised eye. "You better watch what you say boy!" I opened my eyes to see Mr. Hunter glaring at me with an angry expression.

"Leave him alone!" Nora shouted as she stood in front of me "He didn't do or say anything bad!" she added. "I didn't ask you Irregular!" Mr. Hunter was about to swing on Nora but Mike and Keith came in "Back up!" they both shouted at the same time as they stood in front of her protectively with their fists up. "Tsk you're gonna pay for that." he said as he stomped off. All the other people around us who were in shock shouted and cheered "You just stood up to Mr. Hunter!" One of them shouted. "Yep The Super 4 never back down!" Mike shouted with a smirk. Nora smiled and kneeled down next to me "Looks like you're eye is bruised but knowing you, you won't let a bruised eye keep you on the ground will you?" she asked as she offered her hand to help me up. "You know me so well." I said with a grin as she helped me stand. I looked around and spotted Mr. Hunter talking to another worker about something and once he spotted me looking at him he sent me a smirk and walked inside one of the worker cabins. "What are you up to?" I mumbled.

That Night I waited for Keith, Mike and Nora to fall asleep. Once they did I snuck out of bed and walked out the cabin without a second thought. It was cold and dark outside, there was a crescent moon in the sky "How much longer do we have to wait for a Full Moon?" I asked out loud. A cold breeze passed by making me shiver as I walked to the worker cabin Mr. Hunter went in after sending me a smirk. I know he's up to something but what? I looked through the window of the cabin to find that no one was in there, but just to be safe I stood there for a couple seconds longer before walking in. When I walked in the floor creaked making me freeze in place, I waited 5 seconds before walking more. "What are you doing?" I heard a voice say. Fudge Crackers! I turned around to see a boy with light brown hair and brown eyes. "Who are you?" I asked. "Names Ethan now answer my question what are you doing?" he replied. "Just seeing the scenery of this nice cabin." I said as I looked around the cabin. He walked up to me with a glare making me take two steps back. "I take it you're an Irregular right and Irregulars aren't aloud in the Worker Cabin." he said. "Um….well I uh...ya see...." I couldn't think of anything to say so I just looked down at my shoes. "He's with me!" I heard a familiar voice shout. I looked past Ethan and saw "Mr. Hunter?" I mumbled in confusement.

Me and Mr. Hunter were walking deep into the woods together in silence. "Um where are you taking me again?" I asked. Just then he grabbed me by my arm sending me flying into a tree. "What are you doing!?" I shouted. "You're a smart kid Josh, you really are smart maybe to smart." he said. I attempted to stand up but pain flowed through my whole left side of my body. "Crap….." I mumbled. "You know what happens to people who know a little too much?" he asked as he took out a knife. "I don't know…" I replied. He walked up in front of me "They die." he said. I felt a chill go down my spine. Ok so I'm injured, I don't know where I am, A guy with a knife is standing in front of me. I have no weapons. What do I do? Just then a foot kicked him in his lower area, making Mr. Hunter fall to the ground with a thud. A girl with brown hair and a smile stood there with her hands on her hips along with 2 boys walking up behind her. "Nora? Keith? Mike?" I said in shock and confusement. "We're a group we don't do things solo." Keith stated. "Yeah you really thought you were gonna be able to sneak out without us knowing?" Mike asked. Nora walked up to me and put my arm around her neck "You're lucky we followed you Mister." she said, I could tell she was mad. "You guys seem like a tough group maybe you'll finally give me a challenge." There next to a tree stood Ethan.
