38 [Bonus chapter]Execution

Alaric had Sonic watch over the now knocked-out Penne Ryder and entered the Ryder estate alone. Now, he only needed to handle the Ryder children and wife.

'Pamela and I will be enough for this, just a rank-1 wielder with a weak specialist-type talent and two kids.' Alaric thought.

The Ryder estate wasn't too large, only 3 stories high. The hallways too weren't that long. He opened every door he came across.

'Kitchen.'

He opened another.

'Bathroom... actually I need to use it.'

A few moments later, he continued forth. Soon, he felt a mana signature nearby. It was on the floor directly above him, probably inside a bedroom.

"Sense that Pamela? A rank 1 mana signature, looks like we found Mellie Ryder."

The change slime on Alaric's finger vibrated, an indication of its excitement.

Alaric sprinted towards the stairs ahead and quickly arrived at the mana signature on the 2nd floor. As he got closer, he felt that he could hear a woman crying in the room in front of him.

"That damned Penne... leaving me here on the 2nd floor and even having fun with a new mistress every day," the voice cried out.

Another voice sounded from within the room, "Mother! You can't speak ill of father, it's dangerous!"

"Ignore her, brother. Mother is being rather weak, don't you think? Father's happiness furthers the prosperity of the family!"

"You don't understand anything, Penny! Stop acting as if you do!"

Alaric quickly lost any fun there could be had in eavesdropping on this conversation since it was much too personal. He wrapped his hand around the golden handle attached to the heavy wooden door and opened it.

"Who?!"

When Alaric arrived inside. he saw 3 people. 1 was an older woman, while the other 2 were children— a boy, and a girl.

The girl suddenly spoke up, her blond, coiled hair jumping as she did, saying, "Dirty clod, why have you entered my noble mother's room?!"

The boy to her left, seemed a bit disappointed in the girl beside him. He had a pair of glasses, green eyes, and black hair, the same color as the woman behind them.

"Penny! He must be here to clean Mother's quarters, what did I say about calling the villagers names? They work hard and sustain our family!"

The girl, presumably called Penny, seemed as if she wanted to argue, but faltered as the woman behind them spoke. Alaric knew this to be Mellie Ryder, Penne Ryder's wife.

"You aren't a villager, nor are you a servant of the estate. Speak, what do you want?"

Alaric ignored the two children and immediately responded to Mellie, "I have detained your husband, Penne Ryder. For his sins, you and your children must be executed."

After notifying them of their fate Alaric walked forward and unsheathed his blade.

The girl called Penny immediately began to panic, questioning Alaric, "Detained Father?! Impossible! I order you to cease this play immediately!"

"Penny, I don't believe he is joking."

"Shut up, Arthur! Father is invincible, such a thing wouldn't happen! He told me so!" Penny shouted, seemingly on the verge of crying.

As Alaric walked forward, he asked, "Any last requests, Mellie Ryder?"

Her dead eyes told the entire story. It was as if Mellie had completely given up, and was expectant of this very situation.

Alaric stopped in front of her, waiting for her to speak, and so she did.

"My husband did not act with prudence, but the children are not responsible for the sins of the Father. Please, spare them."

Alaric looked at her coldly, and said, "No can do."

"I see..."

Without killing the children, an heir to the Ryder reign would exist. The villagers absolutely hated this bloodline, and Alaric couldn't cement himself in their hearts as a leader unless it ended.

Alaric, with a swing of his sword, beheaded a woman, and 2 children all at once. The women had already seemed dead before being beheaded, but the children had looks of despair washed upon their faces. Especially Penny, whose worldview collapsed upon her death.

'I've personally killed and bloodied my own hands. This is all in preparation for what's to come.' Alaric thought.

He forced the vomit threatening to release itself from his stomach down, picked up the 3 heads by the hair, and left a trail of blood in his wake as he withdrew from the Ryder household.

As soon as he exited, Alaric ordered Sonic to bring Penne Ryder, whose physical form had become normal once again, back to Ooze Village and keep watch over him. He would personally interrogate the tyrant when he was back.

Soon, Alaric arrived in front of the group of villagers outside of Ryder Village. Immediately, all of them noticed the severed heads of the Ryder family in his hands.

"He really did it?!"

Alaric nodded in Clarus's direction, and Clarus immediately used the megaphone as if reciting a script, "The almighty Ooze Village Chief, Alaric, has put an end to the Ryder family's rule! From this point forward, Ryder Village is under his control!"

The crowd of villagers quickly erupted forth, some in disbelief, others in excitement. Some of the people related to the village guards had even forgotten that Alaric just killed their family members.

"We're free!"

"Their reign is over!"

Of course, to those villagers, a change in the village chief didn't mean much. They assumed that Alaric would simply be another tyrant, but it couldn't be as bad as Penne Ryder, right?

Alaric threw the three heads at the group of villagers and walked back to the Ryder estate.

'Their treasury has been my goal from the beginning. Time to calculate the returns.'

Although the issue of a low population had long since been fixed, Alaric found that the addition of 20 slaves from Boss Beard's caravan would still be appreciated.

In fact, Alaric needed more people in order to get started on the next step.

'It's time for Ooze Town to be born!'

Alaric rushed into the pure white estate, steeling himself for the difficulties to come.
