6 Chapter 6: “a talk with Dabi”

(*3rd person POV*)

A mask appeared in front of him. It was a mask in the shape of a skull, it was mostly black but had red lines going down the eyes. By looking at it Jayden could tell it would only cover the top half of his face.

[Item name: skull mask

Description: a mask that conceals the identity of the wearer. The Wearer will look like a different person to the onlooker.]

It wasn't the most useful item, but it was a good item. Jayden put it on and looked at Dabi.

"What do I look like to you?" He asked, Dabi stared at him squinting until he let out a sigh.

"I can tell you're wearing the mask." That's good information, so people can still see the mask. "But other than your clothes and height you've completely changed. You don't have dark brown hair anymore but blonde hair and red eyes, your skin also has a light tan, unlike your almost pale white skin."

He really did change, well it looked like he changed. He pulled the hair in front of his eyes and it was still brown to him, and his skin doesn't have a tan. He normally has dark brown hair, blueish green eyes, and skin that was pale but didn't look like a sheet of paper.

"Thanks." Jayden said. Dabi nodded, and Jayden took the mask off and put it on his desk. He took his phone out of his pocket and checked the time, it was just past ten.

Jayden let out a sigh as he leaned back on his bed, while Dabi relaxed in his chair by the desk as he fiddled with the skull mask.

"What do you think I should do in the future?" Jayden asked.

"I don't know, it's your choice. But you seem to have a similar opinion on people in power to me, they're corrupt. My goal in my world was to make the rest of the world see that as I brought hero society to its knees, maybe you should do the same?" Dabi suggested.

Jayden looked at him like he had three heads. "Of course not to the extent I was going, I can tell you're not like that, if you were you would have killed those guys instead of telling me to do it. But you can expose them, tell the world what they really are, the crimes they have committed." Dabi said with charisma, something Jayden didn't think Dabi had. But I guess he did give that speech while having a mental breakdown.

"They're just arrogant pricks, who think they're gods, and that the world is they're playground. Of course you don't have the power to take them on now and you probably won't for a while. But we can start doing good." Jayden was surprised to hear Dabi mention doing good considering what he was but by the look on Dabi's face he knew how hypocritical that was. "We make good by doing bad, we become hit men or something, kill corrupt people while getting money. I can tell you guys need it, especially now that I'm here."

It was true they needed money, Jaydens ma didn't and rarely bought anything for herself and when she did it was only for her birthday or special occasions. And Dabi was right he wasn't making it any easier on them.

"I'll be honest with you Dabi… I don't want to kill people." Dabi was about to speak but Jayden cut him off. "At least not yet, I know I will have to eventually. It's just now that I suppose my days are numbered before I am forced to kill someone. I want to make sure I make the most of it with my family while I don't have blood on my hands."

Dabi smirked a little. "I get what you mean, I wasn't always this… killer you see before you. I kept delaying my first kill and almost died when I hesitated in my fight against the guy, although he is in a jar now so he doesn't matter."

Jayden was surprised but supposed it did make sense, Dabi was just a normal kid pushed over the edge and he was seen crying blood before because of a question making him think of the family's of the people he killed.

It was just surprising to think about, when you see someone murdering someone easily you don't think of the amount of time they had to get used to that or the amount of guilt they feel when they watch tv and see the family of that person crying about their loss as the news harasses them.

Of course not every killer was like that, but some were, and they did feel guilt and regret. And they just got lumped into the group of killers who enjoyed killing for the thrill of it. Although he knew it was still wrong, he also felt it was wrong to just deny the person that did it for the right reasons.

"I guess I'm selfish for doing this but Dabi," Dabi was brought out of his musing as Jayden spoke, "will you kill for me until I'm forced to or I'm ready?"

Dabi chuckled. "Of course, master, servants are used to doing the dirty work after all."

(*somewhere in America*)

"DO YOU REALISE HOW MUCH RESOURCES WE ARE USING BECAUSE OF THAT LITTLE STUNT YOU PULLED ON TV!?!" A man shouted.

Evelyn flinched a little at it but tried not to show her fright as she spoke back. "Sir, the graves of the system users were already under guarded; this is just another reason to add more security. And this wouldn't have happened if you listened-."

"SHUT UP!" He bellowed, making Evelyn go quiet as the rest of the higher ups looked at her with disdain. He took a breath to calm down although he was still mad. "Don't tell me to listen to you, we are the ones making the decisions here, not you! I don't want to see you for a while, you are going to go back to your home country and take a break. Government funding will be cut off from you and you are to live with the money you have, your research lab will also be shut down until you come back… and if I even see your name pop up on my phone in a message or a call then I will personally get someone to make do on that promise I gave you when we recruited you."

Evelyn looked scared but put on a brave face and nodded. "Dismissed!" He shouted as the rest of the people in the room left as well, most of them were politicians in high positions, and Evelyn was left alone in the room.

"Ireland, here I come, I guess." She sighed.

=========================================

Sorry for such a short chapter, this is definitely the shortest chapter I have written for a book I'm serious about.

But honestly I just didn't know how to make this chapter longer, and I needed this chapter to be here for the story so we have something for the mic to work towards.

It also serves the purpose of giving Dabi more character.

But just to remind all of you, THIS IS A SIDE PROJECT! So, my main focus isn't this.

You can check my main project on my profile, trust me, it's much better than this, or is getting better than this.

Yeah, that's it, thanks again for reading.
