1 Neptune's Court

Tall. Intricate. Colors of pale ocean blue, sky blue, blue-gray, moss green, lime green, charcoal black. Tile floors of cloudy patterns of black and white marble. Statues of beings of appreciation of the Gods. Siblings, parents, relatives, and friends of the one whom this immaculate temple belongs to depicted on each risen podium. The ambiance of the air was calming, but tension and commotion was so tight it could have been plucked like the string of a guitar at the heart of the temple.

A large man who sat at the helm of the room on a great throne. He was shirtless exposing his muscular build and his pale white chest hair. He has a long white beard and a short cut of hair on top of his head. He wore a robe over his shoulder and down to his feet. He was sitting with his right arm propped up supporting his head as he was invested in the meeting at hand.

In the center of this room were 12 women talking and bickering to each other. Each women looked like they were between the ages of 20 and 30 and were each beautiful. In a way, the man of room describes them as perfection. Just, not at this moment.

"My Lord," A woman with dark skin and sapphire hair address the man in the throne, "Could you please input something to this conversation? You've just sat there this entire time not saying a thing."

"And what could he say, Beth?" The woman with fair skin and white hair snapped. "Abagail is gone. She left us. Abandoned us."

"No she did not," The woman with fair skin and scarlet red hair interjected. "I keep telling you that's not what she's doing."

"And what exactly is she doing, lover girl?" Beth mocked. "She was your girlfriend. Freya. You don't seem as distraught about this situation as the rest of us and she was the closest to you."

Freya sighed and said, "The monsters of this world are pursuing her more than they are us. Yes, my heart is broken that she has left us, but you need to understand that she did it to protect us. Not to burden us."

"A load of shit if you ask me," The dark-skinned woman with dark brown hair laughed.

In a deep bellowing tone the man said, "Language Amanza. Language."

"Well I'll be damned! The brute speaks!" Amanza yelled. "Please bless us with your wisdom our Lord, King Neptune!"

King Neptune sat up straight in his throne. He is the creator of this world they live in. Or the planet Neptune. His domain. The women in front of him are the Siren's of Neptune. The highest celestials of the planet and divine beings walk the ground. The only ones to have a direct line to the God of this planet.

In the beginning, he and his wife, Saturn, separated, but as a parting gift, she gave him a large blessing of her power. With that blessing, he intertwined it with his powers and created the 13 Siren's. He then breathed life into the world, the Newtonian humans. Men and women in the form of he and his Siren's image. Humans' technically as the supreme beings he and his brethren God's agreed were the supreme races they would create in their domains. From then on, he formed lands, directed the seas, and placed animals all throughout.

This court conference, taking place 1,000 years after the start of the planet Neptune's beginning, is about an unforeseen circumstance King Neptune has no control over.

Stray meteors fall to planets on regular basis; it's normal. But these God's only have domain over planets they can make inhabitable. That does not mean life does not exist elsewhere. As much as the Siren's have found out, a rogue planet, a planet not belonging to a solar system, exploded somewhere and a meteor that crashed to their planet carried many survivors, and they are evil. They quickly adapted to Neptune's environment and resources to bring war among the humans. Once they had learned about the existence of Sirens, their goal of war turned into a manhunt for them in pursuit to take their power for themselves.

"They can't take your power," King Neptune started. "I know this for a fact. These 'monsters', they don't know that."

"Is there a way we can tell them that? So, they can stop hunting us? Like they're not just hunting us, they want to kill us," The siren with white hair spoke again.

"I wish it was that simple, Madison," King Neptune sighed. "No God or deity had power of these beings' world. And by the laws we God's created; I cannot intervene. Only you, my Sirens, and the humans can."

"And that's why we're here," The siren with darkish light skin and forest green hair finished.

"Thank you, Brenda," King Neptune said. "Yes, that's why you're all here."

"All of us but Abagail," Beth corrected.

King Neptune sighed again, "That is a matter. I understand about what you all are concerned. A few of you more than others," he said with a look at Freya and Beth. Now addressing them two specifically, "I understand she was your lover Freya, and your best friend Beth, but I have to agree with Freya here. She did this on her own account to protect not only you two, but the rest of you here. If we've learned anything in the past 1,000 years, Abagail is good at surviving. Thanks to you, Brenda," he said turning his head. "The siren of combat and stealth has surely benefited you all."

The smile on Brenda's face from King Neptune's praise was beaming.

Starting again, "Despite the current absence, I'm still calling this as an order. Humans alone do not possess the power to fight these monsters as a threat. But with your powers, they do. So, to pass on, an embodiment of your powers will flow into a human to possess the power and when they mature at the age of 18, your power will awaken inside of them where they can use it to fight against these foes."

"Does that mean we die?" Siren with fair skin and rose-pink hair speaks up.

"In a way, and not, Miriam," Neptune replies.

"He said our souls live on in a human," The siren with fair skin and lavender hair says.

"As the siren of phasing this must seem pretty normal to you doesn't it, Maya?" The siren with dark skin and pale blue hair says.

"Izaria, Girls," Neptune interjects. "Please. The bickering is exhausting. I imagine you'd all adopt many human traits in the past 1,000 years. Bickering and bantering is one of them I had no idea you would all adopt and it's worse than I thought."

"We're really unsure about this, My Lord," Beth asks. She then rubs here head then asks, "I think our frustration is, are we dying?"

"No," King Neptune replied. "You can all live out the rest of your days as Mortals. Grow old and die. Possibly find love, start a family. You will still retain all your knowledge, memories, and wisdom of your lives thus far. But will be able to create new ones."

 "So mercy?" Freya asks.

 "Exactly," King Neptune responds.

Hours went by as the Siren's came to terms with passing on their powers and becoming mortals and then lined up in front of Neptune. "As I perform this task individually, you will then be teleported to a continent to start a new life. I loved you all like you were my own daughter. Farewell."

King Neptune summoned his mighty Trident and pointed it down the line to each of the Sirens to Freya on the end. One by one down the line an essence would float out of them, and they would disappear. All but one.

"Um, King. I think it's broken. I'm still here," Freya said. She summoned a ball of fire in her hand and then snuffed it out. "And I still have my powers."

The King was smiling at her and then said, "My dearest Freya. There is a reason why I saved you for last. You are the strongest of all the Siren's. My task for you is different. I blessed you with more power."

 "Sweet," she smiled.

"You will pass on, don't get me wrong," The King said. "On your own terms. You will continue as a Siren and when you find the perfect candidate, you will then pass on your power to them and eventually guide them to become a powerful siren. More powerful than you."

"So someone to take my place?" She asks.

"The greatest Siren," The King smiles.

"However long it takes?" She asks.

"Even if it takes another 1,000 years," He says.

She bows and says, "I will do right by you and choose the perfect Siren."
