1 The shooting star...

Chapter 1: A new beginning.

She heard sirens… She heard screams. The sky that covered our earth, drowned into the darkness as fairy dust blew itself onto the blanket of night. The screams were ringing in her ears like the whistling of the wind. Suddenly her phone started ringing.

"Ugh! Mom and dad aren't back yet! When are they coming back?" She questioned herself. "Who is calling me in the middle of the night?"

She slowly approached the phone, trembling with confusion of who it could be.

"Is this Lily Graven?" Asked a deep and mysterious voice.

"Who are you and what do you want from me?" She said frightened.

"I'm Officer Liam. Your parents have gotten into a car crash. This has been rated as a murder attempt. We reached the crime scene swiftly and have taken your parents to woodford hospital."

She pinched herself to make sure it wasn't a dream. She questioned whether this was a prank call or not, but thought to herself who could be so devilish.

"So, when can i visit them?" Lily asked

"There is a problem, your parents are in a better place now."

"Wait- what do you mean, where are my parents?" She said hesitantly.

"Honey. I'm so sorry, I didn't know this would happen. Your parents died. They're dead. Gone forever. Because of a corrupt man. I'll bring your case work in the morning. For now get some sleep."

She cried and cried till there were no tears left to cry. Flashback filled her small mind as she sat there regretting every second she didn't spend with them. Remembering all those times when she was little, going on picnics, holidays and more. A few hours later she finally went to sleep… She woke up from a bad dream. She remembered about the emergency letter her mom hid in the safe behind her closet in the little crawl space. There were many spider webs and dust in there, but all she found was a plain letter, no envelope, no seal. The letter read

"Check in our bedroom for the safe we told you to not open unless we never come back."

She carefully walked towards the safe in her parents substantial room and unlocked the safe using her parents favourite number which was 5793. Inside she found a will that belonged to her parents. Her parents were one of the richest people in the country and most of the money now belonged to her. 2 mins later of confusion she heard 3 knocks on her door. Lily looked through the peephole and found a police officer with a name tag saying officer Liam and a tall lady who was holding a leather briefcase. She had no choice but to let them in. The very tall lady and officer Liam walked in and Lily offered them some water. They had some work to do so they refused.

''Hey what's that you are holding?'' Officer Liam questioned.

''This… this is my parent's will'' Lily said with tears in her eyes.

''How about you give that to your case worker over there.'' Officer Liam said.

''O...ok'' Lily spoke.

''Hi sweetie my name is Mrs Sophia and i'll be finding a new home for you.'' Mrs Sophia cheerfully said.

''Thank you for putting your time into helping me.'' Lily thankfully exclaimed quietly

''Well it is my job!'' Mrs Sophia said.
