The Mushroom Forest

Riding their horses, the group of Kentaro was slowly approaching Hayakama village. The group leader, Sora Kusa, was a silent one.

The two other guys had presented themselves as Haruto and Akira. They have been mercenaries for the Kusa clan for three years now.

"Kentaro, we have seen a lot on the battlefield, do you know how shinobi die the most?"

Looking at Haruto's scarface, he didn't know the answer "I don't know."

"It is because a lot of Shinobi over estimate their strength, mostly mercenaries. They want to show their capabilities to their contractors in hope to get recognition and fame. But if you do this, Kentaro, it will be your fall."

Kentaro was going to do just what Haruto explained. He had planned to go berserk on the battlefield to gain some prestige and fame. But shit, if the price was to die in a few seconds then it wasn't worth it.

"You have talked enough, we are approaching Hayakama village. Once we go further than the village, I want everyone to keep their mouth shut." Sora Kusa gave his orders.

The group stopped talking, they had to focus. Riding their horses until they stumbled upon a mushroom forest, once they entered this forest they would be in enemy territory.

"Unmount your horses, they will return to the castle town by themselves."

Unmounting their horses, the group prepared themselves mentally, maybe today was their last day.

"We will move from tree to tree in the forest. Our formation will be simple, three of us, including me, will lead the formation. Two of us will cover us from behind.

We must have ten meters of distance between us, not less, not more, understood?"

"Yes, leader." having received a positive answer from his four man group, Sora pointed to Kentaro and Haruto, motioning them to approach.

Kentaro, Haruto and Sora will be leading in the mushroom forest while Nanako and Akira will stay behind them.

Kentaro saw every one of them tree climbing, he had never done it himself, but he couldn't slow the group down.

Directing his Chakra to his feet, Kentaro placed his right foot on the tree, it was as if he was sticked. Doing the same with his left foot, Kentaro began walking on the tree.

It was hard but he had to adapt quickly unless he wanted to die quickly. Nanako and Akira who hadn't walked on the tree yet saw how weird Kentaro was tree walking, but they didn't say anything.

Managing to get to the top of the tree, Kentaro was given the charge of the centre of the formation. On his left would be Haruto and on his right Sora.

The five of them progressively advanced deeper in the mushroom forests. While they were going from tree to tree, Kentaro was amazed by the forest.

Giant mushrooms were sitcked to the trees and on the ground. It was a beautiful sight to behold, it was also very quiet.

But the the sound of flapping gathered the attention of the group, A messenger bird. There was no danger and the group calmed down.

The messenger bird landed on Sora's shoulder. Taking the message and reading it, Sora soon gave instructions.

"Our scouts have detected ten Kaguya clan members three hundred meters east from our position. We have been assigned to take the group down. Prepare your weapons."

Ten Kaguya clan members! But they were only five, Kentaro had to ask if they were gonna be assisted by another group.

"Leader, will there be another group assisting us to take them down."

"No, we are the only ones available right now. Each of us will have to kill two or more of them."

Kentaro didn't ask any further and prepared his katana.

They advanced east. Spotting ten figures, Kentaro lifted his arm signaling the group to stop. As it was his duty considering his position in the formation.

The Kaguya clan members were sitting and drinking some water. Their white clothes were stained with blood, they surely had killed Kusa clan members not long ago.

"I cut his head off hahahhahaha, but you Daichi, are a real bastard! Hahahaha"

"Well I had to quench my thirst and this woman, who thought she was a shinobi came in handy. You know, she was delicious and her fighting back made it even better. I had a good time with her, hahahaha!"

Kentaro found it disgusting, they were laughing about their companion raping a woman.

"Kentaro, use your Earth style to trap them"

Going down the tree slowly, Kentaro stayed low. When he was at a good range, he cast a jutsu to trap them.

"Earth style: earth dome!"

The earth began moving and splitting while moving towards the Kaguya clan members.

The Kaguya clan members heard Kentaro, but only four of them reacted quick enough to not get trapped in the dome.

Six of them were trapped but Kentaro wasn't finished.

Clasping his hands, the dome began shrinking and crushed the Kaguya clan members that were trapped.

Ding! "+6000 points"

"Good job Kentaro!" the four others were busy fighting the four remaining Kaguya clan members.

Kentaro didn't know what to do, he had killed six but there were four to go. Looking around him, he saw nobody particularly struggle.

But this soon changed.

Daichi, the one who boasted about raping a shinobi, faced against Akira. He kicked Akira in the torso, this made him move back and lose a little bit of balance.

At this moment, Daichi throwed two kunai's in Akira's eyes. Such precision!

Akira who was blinded, was pierced in the heart in an instant. Daichi began performing hand seals.

"Wind Style: Art of the Gust Blade"

Blades of wind howled in the air, cutting everything in their way. Kentaro was too slow to react.

Nanako was cut in two while Haruto got badly injured, a large cut in his back.

Daichi charged forward, cutting Sora in the back of his neck while he was fighting. The situation changed very quickly.

They Kaguya's had now the upperhand. Kentaro had only one thought, run, to run as far as possible.

"Huntaro! Let's retreat!"

Huntaro didn't respond nor did he look at him. Not wasting any time Kentaro made a run for it.

He had to escape!
