5 Lug in a Dream

A bellowing scream pierces the night.

"It's ok Lug, you're safe. Lie back down next to the fire.", a soft voice speaks trying to reach the large man from across the firepit. The bear of a man, now a mere boy, shakes in fear. She makes her way to him and cradles his head into her arms. The two sit there in silence with nothing but crackling fire and critters giving sound to the world.

She thinks, "He's been having these nightmares since those scars appeared across his abdomen. What is he seeing? What are those wounds? Why am I so useless?"

Lug stops shaking and is lowered back onto his bedroll. He feels her warm hand on his chilled arm.

"I'm sorry Cait", he whispers before drifting back.

A shrill voice declares, "ahhh, you've chosen Lugston Bellows for today's game." Lugston looks around. There's nothing but an expansive white nothingness for as far as the eye can see. He's in his adventuring attire, and there's three other people with him: a red robed elf, a wily Kitsune, and a floating imp.

He thinks, "Where the hell am I? What's the imp saying? Something about a game? Where's Cait?" A wave of light envelops the group.

He thinks, "We've been fighting for hours! Room after room, it doesn't feel like it's gonna end. It's like one of those gauntlets from the arena shows. Hopefully this is the last room. I'm coming Cait!"

He thinks, "Finally, we've made it," Lug takes point in front of the other two and surveys the room, "One last fight, one last door." In between the group and their destination is a 30ft tall reptilian skeleton. As it stirs, Lug dashes forward swinging his mighty claymore. His blow doesn't faze the gargantuan creature as it opens its large maw.
