Changing Appearance

Linkin was fascinated by the magic Lal'Kita just demonstrated. He was itching to drop even more daisai's into the card just to see the magic at work and if he could understand it or not. However, he did not even know how to read this world's language yet so how could he possibly understand its magic?

"If you have any further request, please do not hesitate to see me." Lal'Kita said as she handed the magic card over to Linkin.

Linkin took it into the palm of his hand. This magic card would allow him access to his room, so he would guard it as if it were a precious gemstone.

"I'll see about bringing you some food. Please give me a few minutes to prepare." Lal'Kita said.

"Thanks." Linkin responded.

Linkin felt as if he had not eaten anything in days. It was an understatement to say that he was starving.

Linkin headed towards the room assigned on the magic card. When he entered inside, he found that it was actually more comfortable than he originally believed that it would be.

There was even a bathroom, something which Linkin definitely did not expect to see within the kind of time period this world seemed to be trapped in.

"A world of magic sure does have its fair share of surprises." Linkin muttered.

The first thing Linkin did was scrub himself clean. He had been trapped inside of a dungeon for who knows how long, his entire body was covered in grime and dirt. After all, he wasn't exactly given the VIP treatment.

Linkin began to slowly doze off as he sat in the small bathtub afterward, however, as his face slowly sunk under the water, he quickly woke up.

"It feels like the weight of the world has been lifted off of me. It seems I relaxed a little too much. How tragic would it be to die in one world, escape from a dungeon, and then die drowning from relaxing too much?" Linkin said to himself.

Linkin shook his head slightly to wake himself up. A few moments later, he left from out of the bathtub, dried off, and put on a new set of clothing he had found hidden away. He figured that they were left behind by the previous owner of this room and no one ever discovered them.

Luckily for him, the clothes were a perfect fit and did not look too worn out or shabby. He wore an undershirt with long black sleeves, a black vest with gold trimmings and a few buttons running down its center, and plain black pants.

Linkin had also found a pair of scissors lying around in the bathroom. He used them to cut his hair into a neat and short style. As for his beard, he used a few tricks to turn the scissors into a razor from Earth to shave it off completely.

"Much better." Linkin released a sigh of relief.

After cleaning up his appearance and putting on a new set of clothing, Linkin looked like a completely different person!

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Linkin heard three soft knocks on his door as he walked over to open it.

"I apologize for taking so long, dear customer-"

Lal'Kita blinked a few times before looking around the room. She had managed to obtain a big bowl of soup with bits of meat in it and two rolls of bread.

Although it was a bit more than she was supposed to give, she could tell that Linkin had not eaten well lately and so gave him a little extra.

"My apologies dear customer, it would appear I have the wrong room." Lal'Kita said apologetically.

"No no, you definitely have the right room!" Linkin hurriedly replied.

After seeing and smelling the food in Lal'Kita's hands, Linkin had a hard time stopping himself from drooling. He would not let that food escape!

Lal'Kita was shocked, but she did recognize the voice who spoke as the same man who came in looking like a total mess. However, he looked nothing like he did before! It was as if he was a completely different person.

"It really is you. You clean up quite nicely, dear customer. I had a hard time realizing it was you." Lal'Kita said as she handed over the tray of food to Linkin, with a cup of water placed on top of it as well.

She then continued, "It isn't much, but I managed to-"

Before Lal'Kita could even finish her sentence, Linkin had already started to demolish the tray of food. In fact, he ate the bread so fast that he nearly choked on it and had to wash it down with water.

"Of, sowweh tank chu vermy munch!" Linkin spoke with his mouth full as he thanked Lal'Kita.

Lal'Kita could not help but giggle slightly at the sight of Linkin scoffing down his food so happily.

"Then, if you should need anything else, please do not hesitate to ask. Goodnight, dear customer." Lal'Kita said before she left the room to head back towards the front desk of the inn.

It only took Linkin a few moments to devour the tray of food. The bread and meat soup had filled him up. When one was starving, any meal tasted like a meal fit for a king!

After he finished eating, Linkin laid back on the bed and stared up at the ceiling. So much had happened in a single day. He had died and traveled to another world, almost died as soon as he arrived, escaped from a dungeon, and discovered that magic exists!

"I wonder... what other mysteries await me in this wor... ld..." Linkin muttered.

Linkin slowly drifted off into a deep sleep as he lost track of his words. He had successfully survived his first day in a new world.

I'll be trying to speed up the release rate for this story. :)
