10 A New Day, A New World

Linkin slept for nearly 36 hours straight before he finally awakened. As he sat up in his bed, the first thing he heard was the sound of his stomach. It sounded like a beast was in the room growling as if it were getting ready to attack.

"Ugh, how long was I out for?" Linkin grumbled.

Linkin's body felt heavy and sluggish. It was most likely due to the combination of sleeping for too long and having no energy in his body from not eating for nearly two days.

At the moment, it was bright outside as the sunlight peeked through the window. Linkin stood up from his bed and wobbled a bit as his legs almost gave out on him, however, he managed to maintain his balance. He let out a small sigh of relief as he slowly walked over towards the window.

He squinted his eyes when the sunlight first hit them, but after a while, he got used to it and the feeling of bathing in the sunlight had become refreshing to experience.

"It feels like it's been ages since the sun has hit my body. Well, this body at least..."

As he looked out the window, he noticed that the town was bustling with activity. There were carts moving up and down the roads, a crowd of people walking to and fro, as well as, shop owners shouting and trying to sell their goods.

Linkin stood there for a good fifteen minutes taking in the sight. Afterward, he closed his eyes and cleared his mind. He truly was in a new world! One that was considered as a mere fantasy back on Earth.

However, Linkin did not feel dejected or even sad at having been dragged into this world. In fact, he felt excited when he thought about what other surprises this world had in store.

"I wonder if dragons exist here. I sure would love one as a pet. Hahaha."

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Hm? Come in." Linkin called out.

The door opened as Lal'Kita entered inside holding a tray of food in her hands. When she had visited yesterday to make sure Linkin had settled in alright, all she heard was the sound of loud snoring. She did not wish to disturb Linkin as he sounded exhausted.

However, she became a little worried when he had not come down nearly all day again. After all, when she first met Linkin he devoured his food so fast that he did not even bother chewing most of it. Therefore, she figured he must be starving by now.

"You've already missed breakfast. But, I've brought you lunch." Lal'Kita said.

"Marry me." Linkin quickly commented without a second thought.

"Eh...? Ehhhhhh! W-w-w-what are you saying?! Marry you?! We just met and I don't know you all that well... and... and..." Lal'Kita panicked as her entire face turned bright red.

She had never been proposed to before, let alone so suddenly and out of nowhere. She was caught completely off guard and became flustered and mixed up her words.

After hearing Linkin's words, she nearly dropped the tray of food in her hands.

Linkin felt his entire heart drop when he saw the tray slowly slipping out of Lal'Kita's hands due to her being flustered. He did not think that she would take him so seriously!

"Joke! It was only a small joke!" Linkin explained.

"Eh? A joke?" Lal'Kita was able to maintain her hold on the tray as she blinked with a look of confusion on her face.

However, a few moments later it appeared that Linkin's words finally sunk in. A smile appeared on her face; however, it was such a polite smile that it was scary.

"I see, a joke. You sure have quite the unique taste for jokes, dear customer." Lal'Kita said with a smile.

Linkin released a sigh of relief as he walked over to accept the tray of food from Lal'Kita.

Lal'Kita handed the tray off to Linkin with that same smile still on her face as she gave a polite bow before walking out the room and closing the door.

"Hm?"

Linkin looked down at the tray in his hands and noticed that the sides where Lal'Kita was holding it at had been completely crushed! After seeing that, Linkin tried to do the same with his current strength to the other sides but failed to accomplish anything in the end.

'How scary!'

Linkin decided at that moment that he would never tease Lal'Kita in such a way again! Or else, it may not be the tray next time that was flattened, but rather his head!

He quickly finished up his lunch and then went to take a shower before heading towards the front of the inn.

'I'll take this chance to go out and explore a bit. My identity shouldn't be discovered with my new look and I won't risk of running into any trouble.'

As Linkin arrived at front of the inn, he saw Lal'Kita standing there pouting behind the desk. He waved at her, however, she turned her head away as her ears twitched and her tail swayed back in forth rapidly. She seemed to still be upset with him .

'I'll have to find a way to properly apologize... Ha... Haha...'

Lal'Kita had been kind to him ever since his arrival in this place. In fact, she had even gone out of her way to give him food when he was starving after the kitchen had already been closed. Therefore, he wanted to somehow show his appreciation towards her.

Linkin stepped outside as took a deep breath of fresh air before releasing it. It was time for him to explore this town. It was a new day, a new world!
