Looking at the greyed out quest a bitter feeling arouse in his heart. The quest award was 5000 experience. That would be enough for him to jump two levels or maybe more.

It took some time before his emotions subdued. He looked around and found himself in an unfamiliar place.

'This is...is this still in the dungeon? …probably.' Noil got up and found himself alone in what he presumed was a cave.

'Wait! How did I survive!?' A deep frown appeared on his face. He looked around and found no trace of Helkep.

'No way! Did he...no he...he sacrificed himself!' Noil's eyes started to moisten.

Helkep, who was surveying the outside of the cave for monster, came back and saw someone sitting inside. Thinking it was Noil he asked the hidden boss to go away.

When he came inside, he saw... Noil crying.

Helkep started at Noil and Noil started at Helkep. Both were continuously blinking their eyes.

"Amm! Are you…ok!?" Helkep wondered what could have made him cry.

"..." Nothing, Noil could say nothing.

After one minute passed like this, Noil said, "You are...alive!?"

Helkep after a moment of silence said this, "No, this is my soul."

"..."

After some time passed, Noil got up and walked towards Helkep.

He raised his hand to slap Helkep and see whether he could touch him or not.

Helkep raised his hand, stopping Noil abruptly. "Slap yourself, I am a soul your hand will pass through me." Helkep said, rather calmly.

"Oh! That makes sense." Noil nodded and stretched his arm out, prepared to give himself a crisp slap.

Thwak! "...OUCH!" Noil seemed to have thought that he himself was a… soul as well. He had thought they both had died and were now in their soul form.

Helkep blankly looked at Noil rolling on the floor, his hands covering his cheek.

'Sigh!,' Helkep looked above and thought 'I wonder when I will be able to clean my life from idiots.'

"YOU LIAR!!!" Noil shouted with anger, dusted his clothes and placed his hands on Helkep's shoulder.

"Helkep, lets duke it out. As a man…you must bear the judgement bravely. Don't worry I will go easy." Noil said with a serious face, like a scholar teaching a kid.

"I refuse." Helkep backed away.

"WHY! Don't you feel the man inside you looking at you with contempt?" Noil truly had hit his head in a wall, didn't he?

"No!" Helkep replied, looking at Noil like an idiot.

The two continued to bicker like two lovers.

After some time passed and the two lovers had finished their lovers quarrel, Noil asked finally getting a hang of his...brain.

"Helkep...no lies…how did you save me?" Noil finally asked…that which he should have asked, earlier.

Helkep looked at Noil's eyes and knew it, like a voice that came from the depth of his soul, it said, he's an idiot I will lie.

"Sigh! Well truth be told...when you were fulfilling your role of a football, I ran and kicked a monster, attracting the attention of all the monsters currently there. After that I shouted loudly, causing other monsters to be attracted at the location. I managed to sneak away, as the monster began a fight between themselves for us, took you along with me."

"...You shouted to get other monster's attention? Or did you…use the leec- -" Helkep decided to interrupt Noil.

"You are still recovering, you shouldn't talk so much and rest, we will leave the dungeon at later." Helkep walked out of the dungeon. He stopped Noil as his work had already been done, he had made him assume a situation he himself didn't know he would think of.

'He has a special artifact that allows him to regenerate, practically immortal. I also gave him a high grade healing pill. Sigh! He had all the things needed to initiate the...Sigh! Helkep I didn't know…I owe you my life.' Noil had assumed something…unbelievable.

If he knew what happened, he would drain Helkep's blood for making him so sentimental and thinking like an idiot.

Helkep was currently surveying the outside for monsters, he thought maybe it was because of the hidden boss that no monster had appeared before.

He went quite far away from the cave and what he saw…was the entrance of the gorge that he was all to familiar with.

'The cave is pretty close to the gorge. The monsters I found around the cave…wait there are so few monsters around this gorge…is this gorge...really normal?' Helkep examined the gorge's surrounding and after sometime decided to head back to the cave.

When he reached the cave, he saw that Noil was sleeping on the floor. Helkep also decided to get some rest.

His wounds were mostly healed but he still felt like that area was somewhat sore.

But before going to sleep, he didn't forget to call the hidden boss.

And just like before, the poor hidden boss was forced to watch over the two from far away. But he decided to give Helkep a piece of his mind later.

About six hours later, Helkep woke up. He glanced around and saw that Noil was eating something.

"You…are awake." Noil said, surprised.

"Yes." Helkep replied blankly and sat next to Noil.

"Why are you...not wearing any clothes?" Noil asked weirdly.

When he woke up and looked at the sleeping Helkep, he saw that he was sleeping with no shirt and even his jeans were torn.

He had realised at that time, that even when they were talking earlier, he was in the same state, he had just so many things in his mind that he forgot to ask about it.

"Oh! Well I did have to hold the monster's off for sometime, in the battle my shirt was torn and my jeans were also damaged." Helkep once again nodded inside his mind, the spot of someone stupid in his life was definitely fixed for Noil.

"…I see…but you didn't have any portable clothes?" Noil asked, his face showing his confusion.

"…Portal clothes?" Helkep asked, blinking his eyes, making his cluelessness apparent.

"This." Noil placed his hand in his pocket and brought out a pouch, he opened it and took out a white circular pill with a weird design on it.

"What's this?" Helkep asked, he had never seen anything like it before.

"Seriously!? Have you been living your life under a rock?" Noil said as he poured water on the pill.

Helkep didn't know where he got the water from, they had brought nothing when coming inside the dungeon after all.

But what surprised Helkep more than the water was the pill, when the water poured on the pill, it enlarged and turned into…clothes.

"…" Helkep pointed at the clothes and before he could open his mouth to speak, Noil said.

"This is what's called portable clothes, you really didn't know about it? It's been in the market for about 5 years. Now other than clothes, even water, food and all types of things are found in the capsules." Noil looked at Helkep, like looking at a clueless monkey.

"…Oh!" Helkep said, blinking his eyes cutely.

"…" Noil could only stare at Helkep, who was acting like a girl who was found having a secret crush on someone.

Helkep looked at the food and guessed where it might have came from. And the water as well.

A thought appeared in his mind, 'I guess I have been …left behind. I have no use for these items as I don't go inside dungeons.'

After having their fill, Noil said, "So should we leave now?"

"Yes. If we don't the academy will send someone to search for us." Helkep said, while looking outside.

Though he wasn't checking out the time by looking at the sky, since time was fix in the Volcanic Land.

It was afternoon when they had entered, it was afternoon even now.

"Okay then, let's get moving." Noil got up and looked at Helkep. Helkep gave a nod and got up as well.

Noil took out a compass and started navigating. A dungeon floor was quite large after all, if students wandered very far away then how were they supposed to remember the teleportation circle's location.

For this purpose, a special compass was designed, that detected the location of the nearest teleportation circles.

It was a guess but Helkep thought that an innate skill was used for creating the compass.

Soon they reached a very familiar location, the gorge's entrance.

"Oh! For the sake of…Sigh! I swear when I am strong enough, I am gonna rip this gorge apart from inside out." Noil walked away, making a promise to destroy this gorge one day.

Helkep also took a moment to stare at the gorge before he started walking behind Noil.

The walk wasn't completely uneventful, when they were on their way back, inside a small hole in the ground, a fire goblin was curled up, it was trying to go to sleep.

When Noil's eyes fell on the goblin, his eyes lit up and he immediately went and captured the goblin. It was the same fire goblin child that he had found on their first visit in the dungeon.

"Hehe! Where have you been, my special monster?" Noil asked with an evil laugh. At least he thought it was evil.

The goblin just stared at him. It seemed to remember what had happened a few days back.

It stared at Helkep for sometime, before it hugged itself and fell asleep.

While Noil was busy with the goblin, he had missed out on seeing Helkep's shadow moving. And a lizard like creature, suddenly appearing and walking around Helkep's shadow.

When Noil came back, with a cage in which resided a goblin and saw a lizard like creature walking around Helkep he asked, "Oh! You found something you like as well?"

"…" Helkep chose to keep quiet, he had been trying to get the lizard to go away but it was glued to him and not leaving.

When the two came out of the dungeon, the guards looked at the monsters they had brought with them rather calmly.

There were quite a few students who brought out a monster from dungeons with good stats to form a contract.

"You will have to pay a fine for bringing out a monster and sign a form for the responsibility of any damage that the monster might do." The guard handed them two pens and some papers.

Without wasting time Noil signed, not caring what was written on them. Helkep did the same, even though he didn't want to.

Both of them payed the fine, which wasn't much, for them at least and headed for their dorms.

It was nighttime, and many students were walking around with their friends.

Noil said, "See you tomorrow!" Before walking away.

Helkep continued walking, the lizard like creature following him.

Helkep saw the students walking around with their friends. They were all laughing and chatting about various things.

He asked himself a weird question, 'When was the last time…there existed someone, I could call my friend?'
