In excitement, Arthur tugged both Sophie and Lucy to the town guild. It was only a short stroll from the entrance of the town and a fairly large building with a wide entrance and stone detailing. There were arched windows and at the top of the entrance was a wooden sign that read 'Fairy Meadow Guild'. Sophie gaped in awe. [Everything is just too cool~]

"This is our town's guild, pretty Missus!" Arthur said.

Sophie cringed hearing Arthur call her pretty.

"Little one, you don't have to call us pretty, okay?" Sophie awkwardly said, but smiling widely, trying her best to hide her embarrassment.

"My name is Sophie. This is my best friend, Lucy." Pointing at her friend. Lucy waved and gave a small smile.

"We're new travellers and we stumbled upon your town. It's our first time travelling so we're not really sure what to do. Could you tell us what the rules are, Arthur?"

"All travellers gotta register with our town guild first! And then most of 'em stay in the guild until they move on to the next place. But if you want I can show you to the guild master!" Arthur said.

"Thank you, Arthur. Off to the guild master then!" Sophie replied, grabbing on to Arthur's hand. Arthur's cheeks were a rosy pink.

The trio walked inside and was met with a cozy atmosphere. The interior was mainly dark wood with white walls and lights lining the hallway. On the left was a dining area, where a chef was cooking in the back and someone cleaning glasses at the bar. There were a couple people eating and drinking with one peculiar figure using what looked like magic to turn the spoon in their coffee. [That's just like the scene in Harry Potter!]. On the right of them, there was a giant board filled with tons of pinned papers, some with the words 'WANTED' and portraits.

"Sophie! Lucy! Our guild master is over there!"

They walked to what looked like the reception area, past the giant board. Behind the long wooden desk was a small woman with curly blonde hair that fell just below her shoulders. She was plump and wearing a white blouse with a red corset and matching skirt. She looked stressed and was hurriedly going through paperwork, her cheeks rosy like Arthur's.

"Ummm, hello there. Are you the guild master?" Sophie asked.

"Huh? Oh hello there! Oh no, honey, I'm not the guild master. He's just over..." The small lady turned and pointed behind Sophie.

"Oh gosh, he was supposed to be in the lounge area! I told him to clean it up! He's probably run away to flirt with young girls again. I swear when I see him next I'm going to-- Arthur, what are you doing here, young man! I told you to stay at home today!"

The small lady walked from the desk and kneeled down to Arthur. She used a yellow napkin to wipe the dirt stains off of Arthur's face. She also murmured a couple of things, that Sophie couldn't decipher. [Probably mum things...poor lady, she seems stressed].

Sophie and Lucy were left awkwardly standing there, waiting for the small lady to finish what she was doing.

"Oh! I'm sorry honey! My name's Alise Blighton. I see you've already met my mischievous son, Arthur. I'm sorry if he's bothered you in any way. It's not the first time he's done something like this."

"Oh no! It's fine. If anything, Arthur helped us two out. I'm Sophie, it's very lovely to meet you!" Sophie replied.

"My name is Lucy. Pleased to meet you." Lucy gave a small bow.

"It's a pleasure to meet you two. I'm the manager of our town guild. Welcome to the Fairy Meadow Guild! How can I help you, two girls, today?

"Ah, yes. You see me and Lucy are first-time travellers and we're unsure of what the protocols are. Arthur said we have to sign up at the guild?" Sophie asked.

"Oh, I see! First-time travellers? No wonder! You two look so young. Well, what usually happens is when you enter a new town, you have to register at the town guild. There's a form you need to fill out that says how long you'll stay and such. You'll also need to show your identification card. Once that's done, you can enjoy some of the guild benefits such as our Inn and dining services, which are open to only adventurers. You can also sign up for any quests that are on the board but note that the guild takes 10% of the reward. Most rewards are in gold coins, but few can be in gems or weapons. But that's pretty much it!"

"Oh, well then that sounds simple enough, Alise."

"Sure, hun. Let me get out your forms so you two girls can fill them in."

Alise trotted back behind the desk. Sophie could finally get a good look at the reception. There was a large clock on the wall beside Alise's head and a vintage lamp on top of the desk. At the wall, there was a shelf filled with several envelopes and packages. [A post box...?]. There were stacks of large books and parchments, with feathers and ink bottles. In front of Sophie was a silver bell and above the reception was a wooden sign that read 'Welcome'. [The design is so pretty and cozy].

"There you go, hun. Here are the two forms you gotta fill out. Do you have an id card?" Alise said, handing out the papers.

Sophie and Lucy looked at each other and shook their heads.

"That's alright. We can sort out the cards later. There's some pens and feathers over there in the lounge area, so take your time filling the forms out. When you're finished just bring it to the desk, hun."

"Thank you so much, Alise! Will do."

"Now, Arthur I think that's enough playtime for you. You should go back home. Mummy's working and will be finished soon, okay?" Alise turned to her son.

"But mum-" Arthur complained.

"Now that's enough. Today, I'll be making your favourite too, mushroom stew and garlic bread."

Arthur's face did a cute pout. Sophie couldn't help but giggle. [He wants to join us, but he can't resist the food. Feelz].

"Arthur, I think you should listen to your mummy, okay? You've done an excellent job helping me and Lucy. But mummy needs you to protect your home now. For being such a good boy, I'll give you a reward okay? But afterwards, you need to go back home and wait for your mummy."

Arthur's face still pouted but now his eyes were beaming in excitement.

Sophie opened her bag and reached for the gold pouch. Taking a single gold coin, she grabbed Arthur's hand and secretly placed the coin.

"Keep it a secret okay?" Sophie winked and made a "shh" sign with her hands.

Arthur slowly opened his hand, the gold hitting his eyes. Arthur made a little gasp.

"Now, off you go okay? Listen to your mummy. You can come to visit us another day."

Arthur quickly nodded and ran off outside. Sophie and Lucy laughed. The two girls grabbed the forms and headed to the lounge area, that was situated after the dining place. It was an area filled with couches, chairs and mini tables, designed for people to chat and socialise. By the wall was a standing desk and chair, stocked with stationery such as pens, feather quills and ink bottles in various colours. The two of them grabbed a seat.

Placing the paper in front of her, Sophie read the form. All the usual details were there such as name, age, gender and dates they were staying in town. What was unusual was the following details like occupation and race. Several labels were 'magician, cleric, warrior, hunter and scholar' and a few more Sophie couldn't recognise. Others included 'elf, dwarf, human and halfling'.

[Some of these, I know from fantasy games, but the others...what the hell?]. Sophie turned to Lucy, she seemed puzzled as well.

"I just realised we should probably make up our last names or something. I think putting our real birthdays are fine. Also for the other stuff, let's just tick 'human' and 'magician' since we still don't really know what we are. Also, I think we should stay here for at least a week. It gives us some time to do some house-hunting." Sophie said.

"Agreed. Let's put a fake last name just in case bad people track us down." Lucy replied.

Sophie proceeded to fill out the form, writing neatly, 'Sophie Hart' in the name section. Lucy decided to name herself 'Lucy Potter'. When the two girls were finished, they gave their papers to Alise.

"Thank you, hun! I forgot to tell you but staying at the guild costs 1 silver coin each. Since you girls will be staying here for 7 nights, that's 14 silver coins. That includes the price of our rooms and food, so you'll be taken care of. There's also a deluxe room if you girls want for 28 silvers."

"That's okay, Alise. We'll just take the normal room. Will the room have two beds?" Sophie asked.

"They will hun, don't worry."

Sophie grabbed her coin pouch once more and discreetly gave Alise the coin.

"Sorry, Alise we only have this." She apologised.

"Hmm..oh! OH! Honey, that's not a problem. I'll come back with the change." Alise's eyes widened seeing the gold coin, but quickly understood, quietly going in a back room.

Alise came quickly with a large pouch of coins. As quietly as they both could, Sophie tucked the pouch carefully back in her bag.

"Before I give you girls the keys, here are your identity cards."

Alise handed the two girls, silver cards. Roughly the size of a business card, their names were engraved alongside their occupation and birthday. There was also a strange-looking logo on the right side of the card.

"That's the Guild association engravement. If your card happens to be lost, everyone will know to return it to the nearest Guild. Here's your key, girls. You're in room number 106 on the second floor."

Alise gave a gold key to Sophie before speaking again.

"There's no curfew at the Guild, but house cleaning is at 11 am every day unless stated otherwise. Breakfast is served from 7-10 am, lunch at 12-2 pm and dinner at 7-10 pm. The bar opens from 7 pm till late. You can eat outside those hours but it'll just be an extra bronze coin, but most travellers just eat outside. Guild rules are just no fighting and to be respectful of one another, but I'm sure you girls will be fine. It's those hot-headed boys I'm worried about." Alise sighed.

"But that's that! Enjoy your stay here girls!"

"Thank you so much, Alise!" Replied the two girls, smiling.

[Oh gosh, I'm so excited! I can't wait to see our room!]. With that, the two girls, went up the staircase, eager to see their new room.
