"It's not a secret if I tell you." My mother laughed as I tickled her trying to get her to answer my questions. I just wanted to test her if she would lie to me.

"Are you really not Santa?" I pouted, hugging her waist.

"I'm not." She replied.

"Lying is bad." I mumbled.

"Fine" She sighed defeated. "Just why is my daughter so smart and cute? You really take after your mother don't you?" She added.

"You're flattering yourself too much." I teased her back.

In this world there's two types of liars. Liars that lie for the sake of others and liars that lie for the sake of themselves.

My mother is part of the first type of liars. She would pretend to be fine when she's not. She would smile even though she's in pain. I would say she's almost perfect. But she lies.

I feel hurt that she keeps secrets from me even though in this world, I only have her and she only has me. I would always wonder why people lie and why they keep secrets and even until now I still do.

At the early age of 8, I was already exposed to the world without any filter. My mother named me Utopia for I was born when the nations have united and society was in "perfect" balance but isn't it ironic how the world I live in revolve around greed, lies and ego?
