1 Chapter 1

Morgan POV

Upon Awakening, I rub my eyes and stretch. I creak my neck and fingers while I rise to my feet. It is about six-thirty AM and today is the first day of the new school year. I could not be less excited about this. My sister and I had plans set in motion for this year. This year we are turning 18 and have jobs that we have been saving all of our paychecks to throw the biggest birthday bash. It's like the hoorah of our high school life. We both feel that after high school is done we will wait to figure what we want out of life before trying to enter college. On the plus side, since we already have jobs, we have also been planning to move out. My sister and I have had our eye on a place that we have been hoping to buy since it has been vacant for so many years. This year will be our bitch.

Once I found an outfit to wear for school today, I walk across the hall to my sister's room. I bang on her door to wake her up. Anna is what you would call a night-owl. She prefers to sleep the day away and be up all night. I, myself, am not a much of an early-riser but still not a night-owl. I am a little in-between.

"Get up, Aine Crescent Lupine!" I shout, after realizing that banging on her door was not going to work.

Without much preamble, her door opens, and a shoe comes flying out. I duck, the shoes nearly decking me in the face. Before I can say or do anything, the door slams shut.

"I'm fucking up now." She yells.

I smirk and walk away from her door, heading for the stairs. I knew that would work; she hates her full name to shouted like that. Now before any confusion is placed, let me explain why I refer to my sister using two different first names. Aine is her legal first name that is on her birth certificate, but she goes by Anna because so many could not pronounce her first name correctly that she chose to pick an easier name. I also do the same. My legal first is Morrigan, pronounce Mor-ri-gan. It is very similar to Morgan, which is why I chose to go by Morgan. It makes things less confusing for others and less irritating for us.

I make it downstairs, and I head for the kitchen. My mom is standing by the stove, cooking breakfast for everyone. I come up behind and hug her.

"Good morning, Mama." I say, before taking a seat at the breakfast island.

"Good morning, pumpkin." She says, turning to smile at me. "What is the plan for today?"

I shrug.

"There is no plan for today. It is just the first day back since the summer break."

She nods, flipping a pancake.

"Alright, then. Mine and your father are the same as usual. Him, going to work in the office. Mine working on a couple of projects that need finished."

"What project are you working on? Is it that wedding that you are almost done with?" I ask her, leaning forward.

She shakes her head.

"Oh no, I can't work on that until I see the bride on Thursday for the final fitting. Today I am working the dress for Mrs. Lane's daughter's Awakening." My mom informs me.

My eyes widen in shock.

"I did not realize that her Awakening was this year."

Mom nods.

"Yup, so you know that must be done with grace and speed."

I nod, before falling silent. I could not believe it. Mist's Awakening was going to be the most significant event this year. She is going to be summoning a familiar and joining the ranks in her coven. Things could not be derailed, or there would be hell to pay. I shake my head. Shit if work themselves out well there will be no issues.

"Good morning everyone!" My sister yells as she comes down the stairs, our dad following behind her.

Mom smiles, as she plates the food.

"Good morning gremlin." Mom says to her.

Anna sticks out her tongue at her. Mom chuckles, handing her and me a plate of food. I grab and look at what one the plate. She had made pancakes, cheesy eggs bacon and sassauge. Score, I thought fisting pumping in head. Without any more thoughts I dig in and groan when the food hits my tongue. The best thing about my mom is that she cooks the best breakfast.

No ones says anything while we eat, so for the most part other the smacking of our lips there is not much sound. I clear my plate and stand up grab my sister also empty plate. I take the over to the sink, placing them inside.

"So how did everyone sleep?" Dad ask, taking a sip of coffee.

"Awful." My sister and I say at once.

"Those wolves rain terror on one's ears." I say.

"Right! Plus on top of that they don't know when to stop. Howling at all hours of the night." Anna says.

Dad sighs.

"I am sorry to hear. But you guys know that the wolves are protecting from an even worse evil." He says.

I scoff, crossing my arms over my chest.

"Yeah does that mean they get a pass for not being able to control themselves?"

My dad rolls his eyes and says nothing to that. I high-five Anna. He knew that I was right. This is very small town so everyone knows all of the town legends and stories. Many believe in the stories and they tend to stick to the old ways of the town. This town is paranomarl central.

We home witches, Fae, shifters and vampires. If you are any one of those then you belong to the small population of humans that lives here. Mom, Anna and I are apart of that small population. We can't be too sure though because not much is know about our birth. To let you in on a couple of secerts our family has only been living in this town for about five years. We moved here before Anna and I were out of middle school. Dad had wanted to leave the city because being a quarter Fae made things hard living in the city. He was unable to handle so much iron and smog in the air, so we moved and learned of the secerts of this town. We love it here despite us being looked at as the newcomer still.

Anna and I now head off for school in Anna's car.
