Chapter 18: Blinded

Mika's P.O.V

The crime happened in an expensive apartment, there are CCTV's every floor and the victim's apartment was on the 5th floor.

Her name was Lyra Franco, a 23-year-old online seller, she sells phone accessories and clothes was found dead in her apartment hanging on the ceiling.

The three of us inspect the whole apartment to look for more clues, if you look at the body in just plain sight, you will immediately conclude that it's a suicide but if you observe the room closely, there is something odd.

Two coffee cups are on the table, the right cup still has coffee, and the one on the left doesn't but coffee stains are still visible, Inspector said that the victim died earlier around 1 am and was discovered at 7:30 am, there are three primary suspects.

Marco Salveja, a 25-year-old man, the victim's lover, visited the victims' apartment around 9 pm because the victim asked him to as she wants to talk about moving to a different city this late, Marco left the building around 10 pm to also pack his things as he agreed on moving.

Next is Anthony Franco, a 29-year-old man and the brother of the victim, He was also asked by the victim but just to accompany her to her apartment until her boyfriend comes back but unfortunately he wasn't able to stay long because of her wife that was on the hospital because of dengue, he was only able to accompany the victim until 11:30 and he said that she begged him to stay but he can't and luckily her best friend came which is our third suspect.

Jasmine Edilio, a 23-year-old woman and a best friend of the victim.

Visited the victim late-night at 11:30 pm and left around 12:45 am, in her statement, the victim was still alive and feeling happy at that time because there is someone who would accompany her and that she never expected that she will commit suicide, she was supposed to sleep in the same apartment with the victim but later the victim said that she can go because her boyfriend texted her that he's on his way.

Marco defended that he did not text the victim like that hence his message content was he wasn't able to come because of her mother having a very high fever.

The suspects are all gathered in the bedroom because the body was in the living room already laying, the victim was wearing a furry black hoodie and a pajama, on the side there were three legs wooden chair that are also laying down and was assumed that it was the chair the victim used to hang herself.

But what's strange is that the floor is wet and a mineral water bottle on the side, I'm not convinced that the water came from the bottle and so as Ryu and Kalix.

"Mika, I found the phone of the victim and when I opened it, the number 911 was the first to shown on the screen, the victim didn't commit suicide, she was murdered and she knows who among them is her murderer and she was about to get help but it was too late"

Ryu whispered to me and Kalix not wanting the police to hear us.

"I agree, how about you kalix?"

"This is not suicide indeed, I found this letter on the victim's side table in her room, it may look like a suicide nite but I think there is more"

Kalix showed us the letter that he found.

'life/ have been short but I would like to thank you all for being part of it, I am more than blessed to have you all and was/ able to bond with you all, having and taken/ all memories with you is such a blessing, especially to my best friend/ and boyfriend I love you both so much as well as my family.'

As soon as I read the message I was able to build a theory on how she was killed and who is her killer.

I examined the body ones more and confirmed one of my suspicions.

"Inspector, where can I get a glass of cold water? I'm kinda thirsty hehe"

"The kitchen is in there Mika, you will find a refrigerator too to get ice" Inspector instructed and I quickly followed where he pointed, and there I confirm how and who is the killer.

I smirked as I called the inspector to informed him to gather everyone to perform my deduction show.

"is it true that you already know who the killer is?" Marco asked.

"Yes, I do know who and how the culprit did it" I answered confidently.

"tss you're just a high schooler how are you getting in these kinds of situation, isn't this a case of suicide?" Jasmine complained.

"Yeah, aren't kids allowed in crime scenes?" Anthony agreed.

I smirked at their complaints...

"Shhh listen okay? your sister's case isn't suicide but was a murder FRAMED as suicide, and one of you is the killer"

"tss go on ms. detective wannabe" Jasmine said sarcastically.

"The water on the floor didn't come from the bottle but came from a block of ice, 3 big blocks of ice were placed on the floor then the chair, the victim smelled a chemical that made her fell into a deep slumber, the culprit set a rope and carried the victim and placed her on the top of the chair and with the rope already on her neck, the body of the victim was able to balance since she was hanged next to the wall, she was asleep when she died, the aircon wasn't turned on making the ice melt quick and as the ice melts, the chair went lower and by the time the ice was all melted up, the victim doesn't have anything to support her and died hanging making it look like a suicide"

I explained the trick that the culprit performed.

"Okay, it is possible since I also check her fridge earlier and saw a few more blocks of ice but who's the culprit that you have been talking about?" Marco asked calmly.

"Isn't it obvious? it's Ms. Jasmin Edilio, may have left the victim's apartment around 12:30 am and the victim died around 1-2 am because the ice takes time to melt and clear evidence? there is a semi suicide letter the victim wrote that is a code, she knew that Ms. Jasmine is going to kill her"

"WHAT?!?!?! I DID NOT KILL MY BEST FRIEND YOU MOTHERF*CKER!!!"

"Oh really? then explain this letter" I showed them the letter and explained how to decode it.

"As you can see there are slash signs on the letter, read the first word before the slash and you will know the killers' identity"

'Life Was Taken Bestfriend'

After my explanation, Jasmine laughed and then suddenly cried explaining that she was jealous of her best friends achievements, later on, she was also diagnosed to have a psychotic illness and have been threatening the victim for almost a week now, Marco and Anthony almost wanna kill Jasmine too but was stopped by the police officers.

The police took Ms. Jasmine to the police station and the case was now closed.

"Well Mika, as expected from you, good job"

"It wasn't only me Inspector but these two young men also helped me"

"Well then, Job well done to the three of you"

Inspector then bid his goodbye and the three just went straight to our house and there we watched movies and chill...
